Debbie Flint

You’re (not!) Fired! A fab audience show and guess who was on the panel!

What a lovely ideal day out this was. Superb chats and a bite to eat beforehand, Lost In Tv‘s audience show “The Apprentice: You’re Fired,“ in the afternoon; then coffee afterwards, before going off to work, with three of my besties. Andrew Collins, producer at QVC (regulars will remember I have known him for 40 years!) plus Craigie and lovely Patrick – fellow presenter and guest presenter – on QVC. We had a lovely time. Patrick posted this little montage. And how surprised we were that one of the finalists was actually Andi Peters! One of the regulars on QVC who we all know. He did a doubletake when we saw us! Just a pure coincidence.

It was also super nice having time to have a banter with my buddies over a cuppa or two! We always go every year and whilst Ali Keenan was busy this time, at least I got to see her at a very special 50th birthday party…

SNIPPETS

Marky is 50!

You might not know his face but he is a long-standing colleague at QVC – in fact I’ve known him since he was about 18! Mark West, one of our wonderful freelance producers, turned 50 this week and lots of us went along to his celebration. It was so nice to spend more time with colleagues and friends, including Ali Keenan who has now retired from QVC. Lovely to have a proper catch up with Mark and his hubby Andy. Mark went to school with my brother Glenn, and even babysat for my kids Brad and Lauren (when they were small, and I was still married), and that was years ago! He is a fabulous friend and I wish him all the best for his birthday week.

(Check out the exclusive over on my newsletter this week, a 1999 vintage magazine with a picture of me and Mark at QVC way back when!!)

Family Flints Reunite

Also this week, it was once more time to have a get together with my lovely cousins and two of my remaining aunties and my mum, as the family Flint’s had our lunchtime reunion. Really lovely to have some proper time to chat with Pat, Christina, auntie Angela, auntie Eileen, Elaine, Julie, Pat, and Sue (and my sister Linda and Mum went too). My dad was one of seven, and his mum and dad would have been the ancestors of everybody in this shot apart from my mum and auntie Angela! Someone brought along a picture of my dad‘s dad too, and some flashbacks from when my kids were young. A proper week of nostalgia!

Jennie Safari Lunch

Met up with my lovely friend Jennie, too, who was down from London for a job for a week, just outside Chessington World of Adventures at the garden centre! So nice to have the time and we had lots of time, to have a proper chat and lunch. I treated her for her birthday! It’s been a week of it, really, for me, hasn’t it!

Exclusive – on this week’s newsletter (sign up to get yours in the inbox every weekend), the exclusive content is as above, and also quite a naughty funny!

Watch – Reacher – OBVS – Alan Richson back for another season of fabulous modern day hero series, ‘Reacher’, this time based on the Lee Child book ‘persuader’. Just love this! You just gotta watch it and you’ll understand why, especially in some of the more “revealing” scenes! LOL.

Anyway meanwhile, another heartthrob of mine from years gone by (long time ago), Donny Osmond, did this very clever (and nostalgic!) rap recently and it was posted online, chronicling his career in rap! Kind of. Well the Donniest, closest version… See it here.

Funny – this made me laugh! Talking about vintage and flashbacks. I so did this, did you? See it here.

Also, I don’t know if you saw it and I did look for it – but this week there was a proper blooper in the studio during the apricot show! Part of the set fell off at the back! And it wasn’t even like it looked as though it was loose! It was the bottom border at the base of the back wall in studio D, the vertical front of a low ledge, and all of a sudden with the most massive thwack, it just fell flat to the floor! Frightened the life out of us, and was really funny!

I was tired this week on one of the nights and another funny was that I was trying to adjust my earpiece, just before a show, which we obviously wear in our ears, connected to a wire, which connects to a volume unit we hide away. “Can you hear the gallery?“ No, I said, I don’t know what’s the matter with it! Kept checking – the earpiece was in my ear, and I was twiddling away with the volume button, but no joy. They started looking around and trying to test the equipment. Then, suddenly I realised after several announcements that I couldn’t hear them, apart from a very faint buzzIng voice, that I was not adjusting the volume on the earpiece – that part was still safely tucked down my bra! I was trying to adjust the volume… on my AirPod earbud which was still in my right ear! You had to be there…

Vlog – you can go and watch my #Thursdaybantz over on my Facebook page here.

And would you follow me while you’re at it? Then you get updates every time I go live. But instead of a vlog this week just watch this here. I dare you not to laugh out loud by the end of it! I’ll never think of those characters in the same way again!

Book of the Week – Ohhhhhhhh it’s another Scarpetta! This time Book 15, The Book of the Dead! I just can’t help myself, it’s very addictive. This series. The characters are ones I love spending time with, and it’s very intelligently written. In this one though, one of the subplots reaches a question with a relationship between two of the characters that some readers may have been anticipating for many books. You’ll have to read it to find out more!
