York City Break! And Sneaky Peeks!

Had a fabulous few days in York this week when my adventures-pal, Gill S, and I fulfilled a trip we have been meaning to do for ages. A couple of days exploring the Viking origins, (the top pic is with the guy outside the Jorvik Viking experience) the Victorian street in the castle museum, going to evensong in the beautiful cathedral, walking the city wall, and having some lovely food. And of course the medieval lane, The Shambles – the location for DiagonAlley in Harry Potter, I think.

Been wanting to go to the Jorvik centre since I used to present news round up for SSC television and one of the news stories was this new experience in York where they have smells from the ancient Viking times as you travel round a little fake village in a moving high-tech cabin/carriage thing. A real highlight!

Vlog and posts!

Check out:

highlights of a VERY packed Wednesday!

highlights of our last day

A couple of short vlogs:

outside the cathedral

on YouTube, for those not in Facebook or Insta – a walk along the York City wall!

And finally if you didn’t see this week’s #Thursdaybantz, there’s a complete summary of all the things I loved about York! See it here.

We must go back again! The highlight was definitely Betty’s tea room, and the amazing atmosphere in there. Reminded me of the Lyons tea room in the film Brief Encounter. Loved it. We’ll go back again sometime maybe next year – if you live near York and want to meet up with all of us, look out for the news… watch this space! And sign up for the newsletter 🙂

SNIPPETS

Beadle’s back

My lovely brother Glenn had a flying visit and we had a nice cup of tea and a catch up, the weather was great too for this balcony shot.

Iain Dale Book

Managed to fit in a flying visit to Devon for an Iain Dale book event (Appledore Book Festival). It was a good turnout as well, lots of my friends in this picture 🙂

Massive Menopause Group on the Couch!

One of the biggest menopause guest groups I’ve ever done in one hour. That was last Monday. Lots of feedback coming through, about the products you like, and a request for one of the menopause your way mugs! I’ve put in a suggestion… Watch this space 🙂

Not a Lot of People Know That

So remember Captain Scarlett? Guess who were the voices! Fab insight! #SixtiesKidsTV (See it here).

Exclusive – on this week’s newsletter (sign up to get yours in the inbox every weekend), the exclusive content is a little bit of fun with Kaleb trying to walk along a balance rope in the park!

Watch – A bit of Sophie Ellis-Bextor on QVC! She also talked about her new album with none other than Dannii Minogue on Danny’s social media!  (See her here).

And ‘after the skies opened!’ (See it here).

Funny – I have to say, I howled with laughter at this one!! (See it here).

And this one! Check out the dog! (See it here).

Blooper – and I’m sorry but this has to go in this week. Trust Jackie and Ruth getting the giggles over this word! Mind you so would I! (See it here).

Vlog – rainnnnn!!!!! (See it here).

And a very appropriate product for that night.

Book of the Week – I’m in a little conundrum because I’ve gone on to book 7 of the Anna Travis series by Lynda La Plante, called Bloodline, so I would say that one, but having really enjoyed book 6, I feel I’m in need of a little diversity in my reading. So I’m probably gonna go back to the William Warwick adventures from Jeffrey Archer. Which has been another massive success for him. I think I got up to book six or seven and I’ve just got the last one to read now. When I interviewed him a few years ago he said he hopes to see out the series before he dies LOL. He was joking, but if he’s now written the last one, what’s next for him! I’m sure he’ll have something else up his sleeve. He’s not the most popular person, but he is the most brilliant author in terms of narrative driver and making you want to carry on turning the pages. So I will report back next week.
