Woods walks & sneaky peeks!

Well, the sun came out didn’t it eventually and the daffodils are out including in my partner Howard’s back garden near Hayward Heath in Sussex.

It was my long week at work so we didn’t get to do as much as last week. But we still had a lovely long meander around Banstead Wood on one of the days. Thought I would re-create Lucy and the Lamppost by being her symmetrical shadow! (Top pic). And once we got to the other side of the woods, at the bottom of Holly Lane we stopped off in the simply delicious café in the Chipstead shops. They make a mean baguette and latte! Lovely little stop off, then we were ready for stage two.

We amassed a lot of steps that day! And are continuing our endeavour to get more trim and in shape ready for our cruise holiday in May!

Fingers crossed!

Salons and Bowls with mum

Not seen much of Mum lately for obvious reasons if you are a regular reader of my blog! So I quickly said yes when she asked for a lift to my sister’s salon in Westcroft in Carshalton. Got my nails done at the same time yay! Then a couple of days later, I got another call. Come down to the bowls club she said. We were just on our way to the cinema (see below), so Howard and I went to the bowls club and who should be there but Anthony and Sandra Berkovi, my employers when I was 16 and I wanted to be a chartered accountant! I worked with them till I was 21 and we’ve exchanged Christmas cards ever since but haven’t met up for years and years and years! We’re going to go to dinner soon! Also I’m hoping they’ll put me in touch with a couple of the people they still get Christmas cards from who I used to work with and lost touch with ages ago, including a lovely friend called Janet Pepper. Looking forward to it.

EPP check up time

Another year another trip to Guy Hospital for my annual check on my unusual genetic condition called EPP. It looks like the fibro scan was okay – they test my liver every year because of the buildup of Porphyrins. The doctor this year told me that there is an organisation called the BPA, the British Porphyrin Association and they have videos and magazines and a YouTube channel! I said – gosh these are my people! There’s only about 250 people in the whole of the UK who have my version of Porphyria – (EPP means an inability to stay out in the sun because of the reaction of sunlight with a buildup of plaque under my skin, made up of these unused blood ingredients due to the lack of an enzyme which usually uses them up in the making of blood in my body.) Can’t wait to find out more!

Later Nights!

I liked this this week so I thought I would share it – it’s definitely getting lighter in the evenings, noticeably so. We just need some sunshine don’t we!

Exclusive – on this week’s newsletter (sign up to get yours in the inbox every weekend), the exclusive content is one of the photos I took last week in a pub garden with my H, I thought he looks very handsome but I really liked the shot! And other things! X

Watch – more ‘Life on Mars’, an old Norman wisdom film called ‘On the Beat’ that is as old as me and Howard! More of the fabulous series called ‘Shrinking’ with Harrison Ford. But also one of the best films I’ve seen in ages at the cinema….

Crime 101 – ft Chris Hemsworth, Halle Berry, and one of my favourite actors Mark Ruffalo, who manages to still be very attractive even when he plays an out of shape cop! About a jewel thief, an insurance saleswoman and an out of shape cop… I’m not gonna say much except that it has some unpredictable twists and turns. But also a star performance from Barry Keoghan (who was lead in Saltburn) almost steals the show. Really good film, 8.75 out of 10, I’ll probably see it again sometime and H really enjoyed it as well! It even mentioned Steve McQueen and the film Bullitt and the Mustang… another one we watched recently… so he was well happy! But seriously, a very emotional film as well, full of tension and really well drawn characters. Catch if you can.

Blooper – I’m looking for it, so I can clip it and show you, but just in case you did not see it or hear about it, during the two hour handbag show last week, we included a WhatsApp question “what’s the strangest thing you’ve ever had in your handbag”! And I did a big buildup to reveal mine… my asthma inhaler/lung exerciser device…!!

If you’ve ever seen one you’ll know why the director and the producer had a sharp intake of breath when I slowly pulled it out of my handbag a bit at a time, and started saying “oh my G…” before they sighed with relief when the whole thing came out and, whilst killing myself laughing, explained what it was! (If you’ve never seen one before and you don’t know what I’m talking about, go here!) Maybe I should have pulled it out of the bag with the mouthpiece showing first… LOL! (PS they really work!) If I find the clip I’ll let you know next week!

Meanwhile here’s a little ADD funny!

Vlog – my weekly #thursdaybantz (Facebook live) is here… featuring a surprise appearance from somebody special!

And here’s a quirky little clip! Fancy that! A woman interviewed in 1977, who had been born in 1868! And it’s not AI! See it here.

Book of the Week – I’m onto the final Jane Tennison book before it turns into the ‘Prime Suspect’ series, it’s called ‘Whole Life Sentence’ but I’ve just started it. She’s up against some very misogynistic colleagues as she scales the ladder in her career. But I thought I would mention this in terms of book news… When I grow up I want to be Jackie Kabler!

Congrats to her and looking forward to her next book out in May!
