Every so often a little reminder crops up for the shared history from another life. This week Thomas Frake, Masterchef winner, Gastro pub owner, and chef extraordinaire, and I were having a little banter in the kitchen and we discussed our shared history, both working at Bid TV many years ago (a channel that’s now closed). For a short period he also worked underneath a guy that used to run Ideal World that we both knew (I was there for one year when I left QVC – Ideal World also no longer exists as it was). We shared some reminiscences about our experiences back in the day, and both agreed that QVC is absolutely by far the best place to work!
Thom was representing kitchen, and we have some great deals online going, have a look! This week, I celebrate 15 years back at QVC since I returned in 2009 in September. After I had been on a weeks holiday in Posara – which kicked off my novel-writing journey. Talk about a pivotal point in my history! I can’t believe how the years have flown by, 21 years in all if you count the first six (I left in 2000 originally). If I could do it all again I don’t think I would do anything differently, because although I ended up back at QVC, I had some amazing experiences along the way and met some brilliant people. Some of whom now work at QVC!
SNIPPETS
Jennie n Me
One of my highlights this week was seeing Jennie, one of my best friends in Devon, she always makes me smile. We were catching up after not having seen each other since late spring I think! So we had a lot to talk about. There’s never enough time and I hope to see her again soon – she is a very dear friend.
I also met up with a new friend called Felicity Mercer whose husband used to be an MP. She’s just joined our Association down in Devon and apart from the big executive meeting I had this week, it was nice to have a bit of a social. Forgot to get pictures at both of those, very unlike me ha ha. Same when I saw my lovely mate Caitlynne as well on Monday! And Alix of course! What am I like!
Calendar Girls
Then on Thursday this week I also went to the theatre in Holsworthy to see the HATS production of Calendar Girls with my own “girls”! And very good it was too. Full house every night apparently and I’m not surprised why! Lesley once again hilarious and it was very well done with all the usual faces acting their socks off and their clothes off in some scenes! Ha ha! Bought myself a calendar, well it would be rude not to! And every little helps towards their funding. Thank you to my lovely friend Sheila for arranging it and it was nice to see Penny and Barbara as well.
Fab Weather
I have to say it was a lovely week for weather. The sun shined so often, it was boiling hot on a couple of the days actually. Fingers crossed it continues for a little while longer, I was so busy all week I barely got to do anything in the garden!
Plus the exclusive over on my newsletter this week for subscribers, (see below and press the word newsletter in order to get my weekly email in your inbox!) is something funny that happened to my face down in Devon! Plus a lovely little achievement for my girl in Wales!
Watch – at the cinema I’m looking forward at some stage hopefully soon, to seeing ‘The Critic’ – a deliciously dark drama set in the theatre land in London in the 1930s starring Ian McKellen! Right up my street! Wonderful era for period dramas! And of course ‘Lee’ starring Kate Winslet! I will keep you informed.
Meanwhile check this out (here) from back in the day, who knew they would be so uncannily accurate! #Tomorrow’sWorld
Blooper – One to make you smile from the archives 🙂 Alison Young’s reaction at the end ha ha.
Vlog – it’s this week’s unusual #Thursdaybantz – never done one from here before! See it here.
Book of the Week – ‘We Solve Murders’ by Richard Osman. Since I’ve been missing Elizabeth and Joyce and the gang so much from his The Thursday Murder Club series, I could not wait to get my hands on this from one of my favourite authors. And it does not disappoint! A daughter-in-law and father-in-law, an internationally renowned author (a bit of a cougar), and murders galore, feature in this jet setting, fast paced novel, with his usual panache and flair. Highly recommended! Still enjoying it now.
