Thel-Mum and Louise! Our trip away together to Devon and Wales!

Did a rare thing this week, something I have not done since 2014 when I went on a cruise holiday with just Mum and me – she came with me to Devon and then onto Wales, just us for nearly a week! Mum was extremely helpful in the kitchen (mostly! See below! đŸ€Ș). And great company. Alix, my longest Devon pal, gets on really well with Mum and we went to see Alix for a cup of tea! (Top picture).

We obviously had the fire going, and it made a big impact on Basil, Alix’s grand-dog, who looks like we felt, sitting in front of the flickering flames! (Actually that was the theme of my #Thursdaybantz this week! Go to my Facebook page to watch this weeks, from in front of the fire in my lounge – quite unusual! And if you want to, do join me every week live on Facebook on my main page! Search #thursdaybantz for more. Nb in last weeks one I talked everyone through what happened at my medical/annual health check last week. Apart from the revelation I’m now just under 5 foot three –grrrrrrr – all was as expected and nothing major! Hurrah!)

Also this week, food played a major part in our activities! She’s a rather good cook actually. Regulars will know that my mum often brings me Sunday dinners or little bits left over and drops them off in my kitchen for when I get home (we live next door in Surrey in case you didn’t realise). So it was nice to treat her in return.

Mummy joined in a bit with the suppers with my guests but she was also enjoying watching her bowls and tennis, she’s a real sports fan, and quite happy in one of our little rooms in my guest house in Devon. Retreats for You enjoyed having my mum, and she enjoyed being there which was really nice. Part two – Wales – next week!

SNIPPETS

Happy Birthday Glenny!

Can’t believe my youngest brother is 50! And his wife took him on a marvellous holiday to Morocco, including this trip and a photo he took himself! Bet that’s going to be on their wall at some stage. Or mine!

What a coincidence!

Look who I found, three faces from QVC, two you will recognise, Rachel the model and Charlotte the model-turned-guest, plus Verity, one of the lovely make up artists – all three having Sunday lunch in exactly the same pub at exactly the same time as we were there for Blake’s birthday! We couldn’t have done that if we’d tried – ‘see you soon, yeah we’ll just turn up at the same place in London somewhere at the same time!’ Serendipity
. 👍😁 it was a delicious lunch too in the pub opposite Parsons Green. See below for more about Blake’s special day 🙂

The Girls Are Back!

Yes, my lovely gang of gals in Devon all turned out (Caitlyn came, late, as usual – she is so ADD like me! So she wasn’t in the picture!) And Jennie came the day before but I didn’t get a picture. Always lovely to see Barbara, Penny, Sheena, and Sheila and co, even Ryan from next door came as well!  And everyone enjoyed talking to Mum too, I couldn’t believe she’s only about four years younger than Sheila & Barb! Very proud of my mummy and my lovely group of friends.

Exclusive – on this week’s newsletter (sign up to get yours in the inbox every weekend), the exclusive content just for people who subscribe, is what happened with the scones and the story about the mash!

Watch – Oooo some good movies out right now! Would love to see ‘A Complete Unknown,’ the Bob Dylan story, rave reviews. Also, in the news, ‘Babygirl,’ starring Nicole Kidman, about her business woman character having an affair with an intern and what they get up to behind closed doors! Supposed to be revelationary. (For some of us it’s a distant memory LOL). And also getting good write ups, ‘The Brutalist.’ You can tell it’s Oscar season can’t you!

Also at the theatre I went to The Tempest with my lovely friend Litty, really enjoyed the theatre Royal, Drury Lane, and really enjoyed the spectacle of the production starring Sigourney Weaver. She was actually quite good, a great stage presence but an adequate delivery of Shakespeare. Whereas some of the others were magnificent I thought. And the staging was a bit spectacular! I’ve never seen it before so didn’t know what to expect. It was even a tiny bit panto in places! Like nothing else and people will love it or hate it. I actually liked it a lot! I wouldn’t go again though, but if someone likes Sigourney Weaver and Shakespeare, don’t miss it!

One of the best parts was catching up with my lovely friend Litty though!

Funny – this tickled me 🙂 imagine actually doing it! Dohhhhh! (See it here).

And so did this! So funny! If you’re of a certain age you’ll know exactly what this means! (See it here).

Vlog – Another important birthday this week – had such a lovely day for Blake’s seventh birthday, watched her play netball then went for a delicious Sunday lunch, then for a walk when she tried her new skates. Can’t believe she’s seven! Bless her heart.

Book of the Week – Ruby Flynn by Nadine Dorries. Mum likes a good period novel, and this one is sitting in the late 40s and 50s. Set in Ireland, it is about a girl who discovers her true identity when she goes to live in a big manor house having been orphaned in a storm. It amused us for the full five hour journey down to Devon, and we will listen to the other half on the way to see Lauren on Saturday morning! She’s a good writer that’s for sure.
