Sussex Quiz Time! And sneaky peeks…

Once a month I tend to go to the Horsted Keynes pub quiz at the Green Man, with Howard’s quiz team, a great bunch of ladies. Maria, Lisa and Jane are very knowledgeable and this week we came… Seventh! LOL. Out of about 10 I think. At one point I thought we were doing really well, but then crochet terms came up. It’s always a good laugh and H has been doing it for years with the same gang.

With the advent of the rainy weather it was back to the rain mac and scarf for our walk down by the lakes. Long time since we’ve done that, before the cruise in fact. It was really lovely and made me realise I definitely have to do it more! He makes me laugh so much. Not a day goes by where I don’t!

We did actually eventually have one day of doing nothing (nothing planned anyway and no deadlines to meet) on Wednesday apart from the quiz in the evening, which was heaven. Then on Thursday we had the same except we went to Brad’s to babysit. (On the way there I popped by for the results of my CT scan last weekend, everything’s okay thank goodness – it was only a checkup after all).

Kaleb was on fine form, including sitting for ages creating a big Spider-Man puzzle with Howard’s Help while I chatted to Blake. He also came to the café in the park opposite, in Fulham, then shopping, before we went home to take over from Brad and lovely wife Kari. Blake did some acrobatics, and told me how well she is doing in netball. Bless her. And I showed them both the pictures of my lollipop’s ducks and how well ducklings are doing, in Wales – they are now ‘teenagers’ and look like proper Indian running ducks, rather than little fluff balls. (Although she gets another fluff ball this week – her puppy arrives! I will be meeting Winnie the little cocker spaniel when I go down there next weekend yay!)

H and I also had our massages at a place called AINS in Reigate, I treated him and myself to a scalp massage with this interesting bed that had a pillow for your head and then a sea shaped metal device that squirted water streams over your head after a hair treatment and before a face and scalp and shoulder massage, delightful!

Lastly, on my lazy day, we went to Haywards Heath, did a little shopping and popped into Hart’s country store, a super place for brunch. I’ve really enjoyed my time with H this week! It will be weird not to see him for about two weeks when he’s away… but I will be super busy so it will fly by no doubt.

SNIPPETS

Bunch of beauties

Have you noticed how all the rosebushes are doing so well this year? Well, dad‘s grave was no exception and I gathered this little bunch of beauties for the windowsill at Howard‘s in Sussex. Mum and I visited and did a lot of pruning and trimming and weeding last week, and thank goodness the watering had been done by the heavens! A big change from last week!

Catching up with the girls!

It was really hot when we went to dobby’s tea rooms as a belated birthday get together last weekend. Still really nice to see Allison, Niki and Co.  Next time there’s a heatwave I’ll definitely think twice. Although it was lovely to have the Shark mini fan that has a mister, with us! Check out all the fans available on QVC’s website, there’s a lot!

QVC Beauty Event in London next weekend

Tying in with what QVC are calling glowtopia, beauty month, there’s something special coming up.

It’s not quite the beauty bash, but worth a look if you are near Covent Garden? Go here for tickets, they’re only £15!

Plus it was a super menopause your way hour again this week – did far over target and we had a great laugh once more, thanks to all involved including lots of beauty products. Check out the whole lot on our website and lots more information about menopause your way!

Exclusive – on this week’s newsletter (sign up to get yours in the inbox every weekend), the exclusive content is a sneaky picture of H with his granddaughter!

Watch – as recommended at lunch last Sunday by Howard’s son and his partner Faith, we started watching Legends, starring Steve Coogan. It’s really very good, based on a true story, and stars the guy who plays Cormoran Strike in the Robert Galbraith TV adaptations of the books. It’s how the border force secret operations helped to combat the heroin crisis in the UK in the 80s. Loving it so far!

Blooper – had some fun lately on air but I can never get them off quick enough afterwards to play them to you! Then I forget what they were! Lorna was very funny I must say, during the lighting hour. And there was a little boo-boo when we were talking about “all things fan” in the silent night show that I did! So instead I’m going to give you this little clip which made me laugh!

20m views so far – go Jessica! See it here.

Vlog – icymi – a flashback to the heatwave, in and around Chiswick Park! See it here.

Book of the Week – Jackie Kabler, my clever colleague and successful author, has released her latest. ‘Run for your Life’ is already riding high in the charts because she is such a good writer. Joggers are being murdered, but why! Do grab her book to find out! I’ve just started the audiobook and it’s very good!
