How lovely it was last Sunday to be invited along to Fiona Summers’ house (Leg Master guest and old friend) originally to see her and her hubby Neil but also they invited the neighbours round and we had a really nice grown-up Sunday lunch! She did wonderful burritos (if that’s what they’re called) with delicious pulled pork. And it was really nice having a banter with some very different people. I had a nice catch up with Neil himself as well, I haven’t seen him for ages. We met originally in the 90s when he came on QVC with his back stretcher device, you may remember it if you have a long memory! Anyway, it was a lovely group.

And just one of many things that I did this week socially! I’ve been a busy bee!

My son and I also went to the theatre, for my birthday, and I opted to get tickets for Stranger Things, which came up at a very reasonable rate on the day. It’s always sold out and I’m not surprised. It’s a gobsmacking amalgamation of special effects, video, and very clever staging, some of which I still can’t work out how they did it! It’s a prequel to the famous TV series so even if you’ve never seen Stranger Things on the telly it doesn’t matter. And if you have seen it it’s even more meaningful. Highly recommended, I’ll probably see it again with Howard one day!

Plus I had seen my girl and her family for a little birthday get together in Wales at the end of the retreat last week when we diverted for a night on the way back to London. Flying visits are always tricky but we went out to an outdoor fish and chip supper with them all on the beach in New Quay, and it was obviously great to see the kids. Then I spent some time with just lollipop on the Friday morning before coming back to QVC in the evening. And we are seeing Howard’s family this weekend, at a fate in his village in Sussex, and all of mine here, are coming over on Sunday for my birthday. Busy busy busy!

Quiz Quandary
Had a lovely time this week with H as usual, and ended up attending the pub quiz. Very proud of myself that I got one of the questions that no one else did – and they weren’t very many of those this week! I remembered a character called Mumsy who was in a certain Channel 4 show back in the day. Do you remember it? Answer at the bottom of this blog! By the way it didn’t make a huge difference cause there was so many I didn’t know, Maria was the star. On one round H knew practically all of them! My marshmallow menopause brain really doesn’t remember nowadays, which is a shame, but at the same time I’m not bothered anymore! Ha ha. Good fun all the same!
H and I also regularly do a quiz that my family sends round called the Joe Friday quiz, here’s this week’s, sign up for it if you’re interested in this type of thing. The sports round always kills me, so I never get top marks like my brothers do, but now H is with me we tend to get a few more than I used to on my own! See it here.

Jasper’s Art, aged 4 and a quarter
Look at these drawings, bless him, he is such a funny little boy. Very knowing, listens to everything. But I can’t believe the youngest grandson is now so grown-up! Bradley used to create some fabulous drawings when he was about 4 1/2, of houses, and he’s ended up working in building and project management! Perhaps Jasper will end up with a job in “elf“ and safety ha ha ha ha (okay it’s a bit lame but I couldn’t think of anything else LOL)!

Flashback 80s
There’s lots of pictures going round on social media of people in the 90s and 80s, this was me with one of my nieces Heather. I mentioned this week on air, when Alex was discussing liking the idea of being blonde, that I used to be blonde in my 20s! I eventually realised I needed to go dark again when I reached 30, and the year before I’d gone to a holiday camp and the ‘funny’ guy in charge of the talent contest said to me when I was auditioning, “do you have to pay much to get your roots dyed Brown…” AND I didn’t win – he wouldn’t get away with that nowadays! Lol
Exclusive – on this week’s newsletter (sign up to get yours in the inbox every weekend), the exclusive content is pictures from being at the seaside with the kids and Howard in Wales!
Watch – cannot wait to see Devil Wears Prada 2, next week! I’ve been too busy to watch much else in the meantime! Packing, getting ready for our holiday!
But I always try to catch up with Clara Batton on Instagram, watch this, she does one of these most Fridays. I love it! See it here.
Blooper – the demo we did has not been put up Online unfortunately, so I haven’t got it to show you, but this week I was with Andrew doing a Gatineau show. He was making some serious foam shapes out of the bubbles created by their wonderful aromatique handwash duo. And the camera was focused on this little column he was creating that just got bigger and taller and rounder and longer… You can imagine what everyone was thinking! I just said ‘be careful what you’re creating there, Andrew!!’ and he flattened it in short order! Always fun being on with the boss man from Gatineau!!
Plus, another set of bloopers from the movies, this time in keeping with what I’m seeing on Sunday! See it here.
Vlog – it’s not quite a Vlog this week, it’s my little link I did for the Laura Mercier show on Thursday this week (unusually I was in on Thursday because I needed to be off this Sunday for my birthday!) Pity about the ending #Butterfingers! See it here.
Book of the Week – Something a little bit different. A while back I started reading a new series by one of my favourite authors, Ellie Griffiths, who wrote the fabulous forensic archaeologist series about Dr Ruth Galloway. This is a completely different genre, it’s based on time travel! The second in the series, The Killing Time, takes special detective Ellie Dawson back to the 1850s again, minced a hunt for a killer in 2024. Great fun!
