Debbie Flint

Seeking Santa! And sneaky peeks galore

Had a coffee and a catch up this week with my two ex sisters in law and good friends, Allison and Nicky as well as mum at the garden centre. I had driven back from Devon late on Friday night after my final writing retreat of the year ended, so I could go out with them on Saturday lunchtime and I haven’t stopped since! This is the week where I work eight nights out of nine, Thursday being my day off, and I packed it full of appointments and meetings. Silly Debbie! But to be honest I felt very fulfilled afterwards!

Anyway, the Dobbies Garden Centre in Wallington once again played host to us and our lovely lunchtime get together. It was very reasonable. And I had the best ham egg and chips! Always nice to put the world to rights on our annual Christmas shopping bash! Just like QVC, quite a few pre-Christmas bargains to be had as well!

I’ve got 1 million things to do as you can probably imagine! So I better get started! The kids are coming over, Brad this Sunday, and Lauren on the 21st after we’ve had our Christmas family get together the weekend before Christmas with just me and my kids. And I’ve got to tidy the house. You can imagine! I’m sure… Meanwhile I’ll just finish this blog… 🙂

Mum’s Moments

Many of you have now met my mum Lesley who is 81! Yes I know, no one can believe it :-). Well, she did have me when she was 18).

She did us proud this week because she looked absolutely beautiful when we had our annual Christmas get together for the flats, in Banstead! She and her partner David also won their bowls tournament when they went on an away trip. They were so proud bless them and they got a little trophy!

Festive Fun!

Yes mummy came too and met some of the people from the flats. It was mince pies and mulled wine, and festive music. Lovely, and the first event like this that I’ve had this year, I really enjoyed it so thank you to Anne, Lizzie and Linda for being our festive elves!

Ask an agent – or fancy a Retreats For you Voucher?

If you would like to come I’ve got some belting retreats happening in the New Year. Check out my event page to find out more, and book soon. If you’d like a voucher that’s okay too I’ll sort you one out 🙂 I think next year maybe the last year, if I sell the whole business to somebody appropriate, house and everything in it (well nearly everything). So if you’ve always wanted to come on one now is your chance. More here.

Or have a look at my daughter‘s place in Wales, for a romantic Xmas break. Just Google ‘the Hiveaway glamping,’ you should see some of her posts on her social media, I’m very proud of my girl!

Exclusive – on this week’s newsletter (sign up to get yours in the inbox every weekend), the exclusive content is what happened in my kitchen this week! And a really funny vintage video that reminded me of Joy Mangano… You’ll know who that is when you watch! (Just click on the word newsletter at the bottom of this page, fill it in, and then verify your email address as requested, and you will get a little personal email from me every single week).

Watch – LOVING ‘Day of the Jackal,’ the new one with Eddie Redmayne. I liked the original but this one is really really well done and brought up-to-date in terms of setting. He’s a very good actor. Thoroughly enjoying it. Lots to catch up on though.

At the cinema, at some stage I hope to see ‘Conclave’, sounds like it’s really well done. And of course the new Christmassy things with the kids! But it will soon be time to sit down and start watching Christmas films, the ones I watch every year, what do you watch? Mine include Groundhog Day, The Holiday, Love Actually, and Holiday Inn/White Christmas (both of them!) Looking forward to some me time, nearly at the end of all my busy ‘musts.’

Funny – really enjoyed this vintage black-and-white Beatles sketch when it popped up on Facebook this week – Morecambe & Wise are amazing as ever – but so are John Lennon’s ad libs! Enjoy! (See it here).

Vlog – this week’s #Thursdaybantz: so tired this week, such a busy packed seven days! Find out more here and watch out for something quite unusual… think I was nearly falling asleep at some point! See if you can spot it! Funny. (See it here).

Book of the Week – Oh it’s that most wonderful time! My next choices are hot on the heels of ‘A Little Village Christmas,’ by Sue Moorcroft, which was fab, with some very complex characterisation that was nice and rewarding to read.

‘A Christmas Wish at Woolworths,’ by Elaine Everest, is as enjoyable ever. The Woolworths girls are now in the 1950s, times are changing, but classism runs high as they try to better the lives of themselves and their families. Just love the period touches to this series of books by a fab author.

‘The Christmas Party,’ on the other hand is a psychological thriller, set in a snowstorm in Scotland, when a group of old friends reunite under the shadow of a horrific event that made them all lose touch years ago. Thought it would make a change! Billie Piper is one of the narrators, and Kathryn Croft is the award-winning best selling author, of this audible original production. Very good so far!

Highly recommended!
