Out out… out! And tix on sale for June event!

How lovely that we will be able to meet up if you come to this summer’s medical detection dogs event on the 10th of June at lunchtime/early afternoon. It’s in a special members club just off Whitehall in London, where there will be a buffet lunch/nibbles, raffle, auction, and a chance to meet some of the amazing medical detection dogs and hear the story of how they help humans, in a special presentation. And there will be lots of QVC faces there as well! Please email me if you’ve got any questions on info@ debbieflint.com. Otherwise click here to buy your tickets!

The last one was fabulous and included lots of us including presenters and ex presenters and guest presenters and customers! I do hope some of you will come again to this one and we’ll see lots of new faces as well.

I have to warn you – a fifth of the tickets have already gone on day one!

There’s also a very special event straight afterwards if you want to buy a ticket for that as well, which is a walking tour of some of Patrick’s favourite places in London, and a sixth of those have already gone as well! Hope to see you there!

SNIPPETS

Apart from that I was out out a lot last week! Lunch after lunch after get-together after get-together! Starting with the big event with Suella last Friday, that I ran myself for my Association in Devon, another successful night.

Then it was off to Wales to see the kids and lollipop, for a little early Mother’s Day celebration.

Then back to work all week but with the following interludes as well!

Andy from LA

This is me and one of my oldest buddies, my mate Andy Hollins whom I met in broadcasting school in 1983, and he now lives in LA. We had a lovely lunch on Monday at the Sofitel hotel near Heathrow, on my way into work. He comes over every so often but lives in LA not far from the Royals in Montecito! We go back such a long way and had a really fun catch up. He’s doing really well and I’m really proud of him and his husband Peter. Some proper reminiscing and putting the world to rights over a lovely lunch that he kindly treated me to! And yes if it sounds familiar, my other old mate from the same broadcasting school is Andrew Collins! And I’m going out to the theatre again with him on Friday to see Stranger Things! He’s the one that works at QVC. (Not many people I’ve known for longer – perhaps my school friends – the lunch with them was postponed this week because one of their hubbies was poorly but we’ll catch up again soon).

Then and Now – 25 yrs on!

More memories reinvigorated this week as well, when I did a show with lovely mate Sean Ryan on the gardening escape slot last week and he showed me this photo from 25 years ago! It was from when we launched another channel together, so we decided to re-enact it! It was great fun back in those days and we had half an hour of reminiscing. Tough times though, how we ever got on air I will never know, as the Channel 4 documentary (I think it still might be on YouTube! called Telly Sales?) will testify! He doesn’t look any bloody different! Bless him apart from the obvious beard and he really knows his stuff about gardening. Look at some of the You Garden items on QVC, they’re really good!

Supper Gang!

Had a lovely meal just before going to the theatre (see below). With Patrick and Sara and Christina, in one of our favourite places, yes I was back in the old Compton brasserie in Soho. We were talking about the event in June and several QVC faces have already said they’re gonna come. Patrick was discussing how he will structure a little walking tour of some of his favourite places, which you can go on afterwards, and we had another lovely meal. So nice to have these out of QVC get-togethers with favourite Pals!

Exclusive – on this week’s newsletter (sign up to get yours in the inbox every weekend), the exclusive content is a couple of videos that couldn’t be more different… And one of them is rather, well, shall we say, Risqué!

Watch – on the TV – ‘Last One Laughing’ apparently is a really good show and I’m going to be dipping into it, and I’ve just started watching a new Amazon Prime movie called ‘Holland’ with Nicole Kidman (and Jack Reacher of course! New episodes out on Thursdays). Plus The Apprentice nears its end; apparently this week they had a really expensive foot product to sell; gonna have to get me some proper time to catch up with TV shows , aren’t I!?! (Mind you I’m just too busy with all these lunches and get-togethers!)

However, the thing I really wanted to mention this week was a theatre production I went to see on Thursday with my theatre friends Sara and Christina – it’s called ‘Retrograde’ – the Sidney Poitier story. The guy playing the eponymous hero was really really good and really sounded like him. The other two actors were excellent as well. It wasn’t quite what I expected as it wasn’t the full story, it was just a snapshot of one meeting in one scene continuously, and in one act. But some really heated tensions and a lot of reminders of what life was like back then when McCarthyism was rife and black actors faced a really tough world in Hollywood. Makes me want to go off and find out more about those times and Paul Robeson and Sidney Poitier amongst others. Very thought provoking and intense. I like period drama stuff so I did enjoy it, and I also liked one act! 90 minutes long though, like watching a film!

Blooper – Hahaaa!! So funny Lorna bless you! What a slip of the tongue… See it here.

But not as much of a slip as Katy‘s… Oh my God how funny that was!

Enjoy!! you’ll never see a weeping willow in quite the same way again… See it here.

Vlog – apart from my #Thursdaybantz which you can always find on Facebook, on my Debbie Flint page, I did this one (here) in London this week for you – what music comes to mind?

Book of the Week – Oh I can’t help it it’s another Scarpetta – Book 17 now! I love spending time with the characters and have definitely got my money’s worth out of this series from Patricia Cornwell! Can’t believe there’s another 11 books to go!
