I’m spending this week still trying to catch up on my life admin including selling tickets for events that are coming up soon, finishing newsletters, getting more people to come to my retreats, chasing and paying bills, and trying to see family. I’m going to see my adorable little grandson Kaleb on Friday afternoons in September, since, as you may remember from last week, he just started a new school and needs picking up early on Fridays. That will be fun, he is such a giggle.
But on Tuesday night I managed to get along to a dinner being held near Trafalgar Square with a really good friend of mine called James Wright. One of my best friends in Devon, Sam Penfold was also there, as were a few other people I knew.

A shadow minister was making a speech and it was quite interesting. The food was absolutely amazing, it was in the ‘farmers club’ – a place where, naturally, farmers can go when they’re in London. I do love going to events, especially when I’m not the one that’s arranged it!

Afterwards I went back to QVC and got myself a Dyson sample, it’s a V 15 and it’s the new bargain of the week kicking off on Sunday! That will go swiftly! It’s their top of the range and it features a detection mechanism that shows you what size particles you’re picking up, in other words how dirty the surface is! Here’s a little sneaky peeky (here) – and if you wanted one for ages although they are expensive, if you maintain them right they last for years, now is the best time to get it when it’s this kind of an offer!

You can’t make old friends!
Met up with my school friends again this week, lovely Denise, Laura and Dawn, all from Morden Farm Middle School, class of 75 (the year we left). We had a lovely catch up at Chessington Garden Centre, and some of the conversation was inevitably about illness and ailments. People around us with issues. It really makes me more likely to keep everything in perspective, so that when members from a little volunteers group of directors declare war over different opinions on responsibilities and what essentially amounts to the same thing, it makes it very easy to say get over yourself and get a life! I love meeting up with my school friends. You know what they say, you can’t make old friends! I’ve known them since 1971!

Another ‘old Pal catch up’ in Taunton
Caught up with one of my favourite people in the last eight years of being involved in my Association work in Devon, John Gray, on the way home from Devon on Saturday. We stopped to have lunch at the Miller and Carter in Taunton. Had wonderful food, I had the most amazing burger. It was so nice to have a catch up and he was really interesting, talking about classic cars and his involvement in the gay classic car club where he met his partner. I’ve always loved classic cars and it was really nice to see how happy John is, and enjoying life outside of the political sphere. That will be me in a year or so! LOL
Huge and Scary!
For those who don’t realise, I have a YouTube channel that you can follow as well, (especially good if you don’t do social media – although if you didn’t realise already, most of the links I post on this blog that lead to Facebook or Instagram, you can still watch without having to have an account). However, this is the post that got a lot of likes and views this week. It’s huge, and it’s scary! Watch it on the YouTube website, and see some of my other videos while you are at it. Press Subscribe to follow my channel.
Eeek! I never kill a spider if I can help it, but roll on the days when they’re not coming inside looking for warmth. The weather has been biblical this week hasn’t it, with some absolute torrential downpours! I went off on a walk in the woods in search of dappled sunshine (See Vlog below.)

Menopause your way, Mondays 7 pm through September
I was on the MYW couch with the girls last Monday, great fun as usual. Put Monday at 7 pm for the rest of September for weekly ‘menopause your way’ shows, do try and join me. Lots of chat about menopause, pre and post, and sharing and stuff! And some good products as well! Special offer on the ‘fresh wipes’ at the moment – can’t be without them! I’ve got lots in Devon where I particularly use them, also great for quick freshen ups and to keep in the car. Lorna was fabulous as usual. Big set of 10 currently online – see if you can get them, Google “fresh wipes, QVC”.
And with a nod to the menopause here is Melanie, the internet sensation, with her latest from the ‘we do not care’ club! So funny.
We Three Kings n Cozee Queens!
Have you noticed QVC social media has started doing some funny little skits lately which are going down a bundle on Instagram et cetera? This is a funny one (here). All in Cozee Home tgrows… Well done Craig Black, the producer in the middle who has spear-headed many of these! He is funny.
Exclusive – on this week’s newsletter (sign up to get yours in the inbox every weekend), the exclusive content is the latest on tooth fairy’s workload for my redheaded Phoebe, my little granddaughter! And a focus on my YouTube channel, for those who don’t do Facebook et cetera!
Watch – So many lovely things to watch on telly at the moment. I actually found something different last week though, when I was relaxing down in Devon on Friday night at the end of the retreat. I allowed myself an indulgence of two hours of watching “murder 24-7!” It’s on Netflix or iPlayer or something like that and I’ve really enjoyed it so far! It’s real life, following the police around from the investigation point of view, as they pursue perpetrators and crack crimes. Considering how many detective books I’m reading at the moment, this is brilliant!
This video online (Part One: here), is also quite genius and very, very watchable, just one of those flash performances, but check out the young boy’s guitar solo!
See Part Two here.
Finally, I thought this next one (here – nb Contains swearing!) was a good one for anyone struggling with menopause at the moment! Remember, that through September, I’ve got Monday night 7 o’clock shows featuring menopause your way! Try to join me 🙂
Blooper – a little slip of the tongue from Michaela from Gatineau on with Will Gowing last week! Thought it would make you chuckle 🙂 See it here.
Vlog – I started doing my walks again in the woods near me in Banstead and had a lovely one in the sunshine this week with lots of news about this weekend’s deals! See it here.
Check out my YouTube channel for the brand-new sculpture of Narnia’s ‘Lucy and the lamp post’ in the woods nearer the car park (the link to the video I did is also on this week’s email newsletter! Sign up by pressing the word newsletter below.)
Book of the Week – Well… If I say I’m enjoying the latest Robert Galbraith “Strike” novel, it is the understatement of the year. I’m loving it beyond belief! So carefully crafted. Such clever writing. Such canny plotting, and such compelling characters. Plus it’s a really long one too, which is so satisfying, especially when you listen to mostly audiobooks! Another genius novel from J. K. Rowling. Looking forward to the next Strike TV adaptation as well.
Meanwhile, here is an alternative book of the week, a new release that sounds really attractive, from one of my ‘Retreats For You’ guests.
Magpie by Georgia Hill

Never turn your back on a witch or a magpie…
Two women. Two centuries. One house full of secrets.
When Beth Loveday retreats to a shadowed corner of the Devon coast, she hopes to rebuild her life in peace. But the old timbered shop she buys—Tenpenny House—has other plans. Strange objects hidden in the walls. A book of forgotten remedies. And dreams that feel like memories.
Looks good!
