What a super day! With so many of my lovely QVC friends. I list them below, thank you everyone of you. Yes on Tuesday this week we eventually had the charity afternoon tea that I’ve been banging on about for ages, and we ended up raising £1,800! We had demos with the dogs themselves.
Watch these two reels to find out more (here and here).
Loads of lovely faces and events to enjoy. Auction, raffle, talk, meeting partnerships, meeting the dogs, and of course my lovely mates –
Jilly, Julia, Alison Keenan, Kathy Tayler, Patrick, Lorna, Gill, Marie Francoise, Suzy Adams, Beverley Cressman, Tracey Krieger and lovely viewers. A wonderful behind-the-scenes team and an excellent organiser in Ruth.
Special well done to Ali Keenan who came along with Kathy Tayler, lovely former colleagues, and Ali made the most amazing cake!
A good time was had by all indeed. And June 10th at lunchtime in London will be the next one so put it in your diary and watch out for announcements and tickets going on sale because it will be limited to 40 to 50 :-).
There’s a WhatsApp group which I’ve called the Holding group, with nearly 40 people in there already, do join it now and hopefully you’ll be able to get a ticket nice and early! (Join here).

Brain show
Had the most amazingly busy day straight after the Mdd afternoon tea extravaganza on Wednesday, I went up London for three different events. Mainly it was because in the evening I was going with my friend June who runs the Makeup Junkies at work, to a Frances Creek Institute talk about the connection between the gut and the brain and there was a brain exhibition near their café as well.
Will definitely look out for more things like this! The exhibition goes on till next year by the way 🙂 And if you didn’t know already, the gut and the microbiome are probably the most important thing for our health hereditary stuff. Just look on YouTube for “gut health and the brain connection.”
LJ n me!
Finally met up with my lovely old besty, LJ Rich who I haven’t seen for years.
So so nice to be back in her company, she’s so talented. She used to be a guest on QVC now works for BBC Click and goes around the world talking about AI. We had an interesting discussion about how AI can help women with menopause brain! And it really can! But more importantly we had a delicious lunch and a wonderful catch up in the Bafta restaurant and ice cream place afterwards, and I do hope I see her again soon.
Ask an Agent Weekend
Lovely Megan Carroll from the literary agent Watson Little, met me at a lovely venue, the library café in the standard building near Kings Cross. What a lovely place, I’ll definitely arrange to meet people there again in the future! She was talking with me about coming to do an ‘Ask an Agent’ Weekend for authors at my place in Feb, it should be fun! We got on really well and she’s very interesting. I really think she’s not your typical agent and I’m looking forward to hosting her in February (go to retreatforyou.co.uk/events for more info about my monthly retreats for writers, including one for beginners this April).
The stag is back
The huge Christmas decoration in the shape of a stag means bonfire night is over and we’re in the countdown to Christmas, at Chiswick Park where we work in London! We’re on the street now! Don’t forget to check out all the wonderful deals on QVC, if you’re looking for something special start there!
Exclusive – on this week’s newsletter (sign up to get yours in the inbox every weekend), the exclusive content is a picture of what made me need to keep ducking this week! And separately, a little bit of serendipity…
Watch – So much to see at the cinema, haven’t seen Heretic yet but hope to. Gladiator too, obviously, that’s got to be on the list. ‘Red One’ too, which is a Christmassy thing but it’s a 12 so I can’t take the kids to that.
So I’ll probably end up seeing Paddington and I’ll report back next week!
Funny watch – Meanwhile, here’s one of the best, most iconic scenes in the history of television, especially if you are of a certain age! (See it here).
Science Watch – an extra one for you this week since I didn’t actually make it to my quantum physics day on Saturday, too tired! But this is interesting! Good for a pub quiz as well LOL. (See it here).
Funny – I just love this challenge, can you do it? If you’re a guy? Video it and email it to me or post it on one of my social media platforms! And no cheating! (See it here).
Vlog – I’ve been out and about quite a few times this week in the woods and around and about, this was on the day I went to London! (See it here).
Book of the Week – Well what an unusual one I have been listening to. My eye was caught by a little ad popping up for an audible original. Four different voices and some sound effects. It is called ‘Disorder,’ and it’s a bit weird. Part romance, part thriller, part fairytale, I’ll finish it, even though one of the narrators is very amateur and having four different narrators talking about the same four characters in each scene, means that some of their accents vary, depending on who’s reading which is annoying. but some quite gripping stuff happens and the structure is interesting.
But otherwise lots of lovely Christmassy things out nowadays, look out for books by Sue Moorcroft, who has been quite prolific in the Christmas novel arena over the years!

Hi Debbie
I just wanted to say “Thank you” for a lovely afternoon at MDD on 12,November. I came with my friend (who travelled all the way from near Cleethorpes) for the day. I found out as I’m an avid QVC customer and always keep in touch with Ali Keenan via her blog! (I was wearing a bright pink Frank Usher jumper)!
We both thoroughly enjoyed the day and meeting everybody (especially the dogs) and learning about the work the charity does as I myself suffer from fibromyalgia.
Thanks again.
Best wishes
Tina
