Went swimming this week for the first time in absolutely ages and loved every second. Reminded me why I need to do it more often! In keeping with my determined resolution to lose some weight by the time I go to Cyprus at the end of September, I’ll be back more now I’m sure! But next time I’ll remember to put a bigger towel in the swim bag in my car… Don’t ask!
Omg blow out!
Well, it’s been over the Internet! The blooper I featured last week in my blog has gone viral, having taken a week to filter through. From parodies and copycats, to follow ups on chat shows and beyond, the QVC US blooper featuring Toni Brattin and her wigs is a phenomenon – (the one where she should have said blowout when talking about her hair but she said something else!!) And it led to a very interesting development.
It has kick-started dozens and dozens of people putting on their own QVC bloopers online, from years gone by.

Family Fun
Lollipop came down last weekend for a couple of days, and bought little Winnie the puppy with her! So nice to see everybody. The kids also met one of their second cousins, brand-new baby Billy.
But of course I’ll be spending a lot more time with them and my other descendants next week in Devon!

Well, we didn’t get to see it where I was, because… well, no eclipse glasses, what can I say. But my friend, Gill from Essex, had hotfooted it over to Majorca, where she took this photo of the 100% eclipse! I was feeling a little poorly because of something I ate, so I wasn’t with Howard sadly; but he got to see it, with some of his friends on the Village Green. Hope you enjoyed it wherever you saw it!

Watch – TV – Reacher – new season out on Amazon Prime and Alan Ritchson is back as Lee child’s ex military cop hero in another adventure based on the best selling novels (all of which I’ve read and consume voraciously!) And just to celebrate he has released this (here), quite good and very funny actually. Follow him on Instagram for lots of similar giggles, and of course he’s not bad to look at either!
Watch 2 – cinema – The Odyssey
We went to see it on Saturday in the picture house in Uckfield. And bearing in mind it’s three hours long, it actually flew by. I’m glad I saw it but I wouldn’t see it again, just because the overall package was not compelling enough to justify another watch, but the visuals are quite stunning and some of the performances are really good – some really well-known faces in it. So, given it is based on Greek mythology, and putting aside a couple of the weird little plot quirks, it’s probably worth a watch if you like epics. 7.85 out of ten.

Book of the Week – The Girl You Forgot by Giselle Green
I’m looking forward to this one – Giselle was at my retreat last month and tempted me into buying this audiobook! She’s written quite a lot of of those heart tugging types of tale, and this is one of her best sellers.
“The doctors give Will one chance to survive – an operation which means he will lose his recent memory. Ava begs him to take the chance, sure that she can cope with Will forgetting her. After all, they have something very special to live for.
But they are also keeping a heart-breaking secret, and if Will loses his memory, Ava will have to carry that secret alone.“
With a good narrator, this sounds like a very good premise and I’m enjoying it so far! Give it a go if you’re looking for some summer reading.
