Yes, I was away for a day last Sunday, with a flying visit to Birmingham for an event that started too early for me, and I don’t think I’ve caught up yet! Really takes it out of me nowadays, but I went to a one-day conference which at least meant when I was at breakfast (that’s where I am in the Premier Inn in this top picture!) I could surprise Lolly and her kids with a quick FaceTime! They thought I was a mirage…! Anyway it was a good outing and nice to catch up with some mates from my Devon area.
Followed soon after on Tuesday, by a trip to Devon for my writing retreat with a brilliant brilliant scriptwriting tutor called Lucy V Hay. Lovely bunch, as usual, and I took these pictures as a snapshot of the week.
Very busy again, gathering about all over the place as usual, but had some lovely long sleeps in my really comfortable room with the electric blanket… I spent some time in the garden as well. And with my friends, quite a group of them came over this week!
I’ve said to lovely Barbara who used to live in the village when she was a kid, that I’ll help her put together some kind of booklet with all the photos and memories she’s got if she gets it all together in the first place! There’s a challenge! Anyway, lovely to see everybody and so nice to get some good weather. I hope it’s like that when I go to see lollipop at the weekend in Wales!

Book of the Week – I can’t help it, I can’t help it! It’s the next Scarpetta! It carried on as kind of a two part series. So “Scarpetta” was followed by book 17, “The Scarpetta Factor“. Where an impersonator creates trouble for K, the medical examiner, and her cohort. I like how Patricia Cornwell has made it more about the other characters, and they are also cleverly drawn. I really want to spend time with them in my head, and when I’m doing such manual work virtually all day long at the retreat, that’s exactly what I end up doing! Thank goodness for Audible. Highly recommended.
