Went to a conference last weekend in Plymouth, with some lovely friends in my association, had quite an interesting couple of days but the best bit is always seeing some really good friends I’ve made over the last seven years. Had breakfast up high in the Crown Plaza Hotel, what a view across the bay! That was part of the treat. I even went swimming in the hotel pool. Well done to the organisers, my friends Sam P, Sam D, and Marjorie B, who did most of it 🙂 – a good weekend!
Then on Saturday late afternoon I decided to drive to my place an hour and 15 minutes away, rather than driving straight back to Surrey. I thought, I must get some fish and chips, it was exactly what I felt like. I was really hungry. Then I thought I would start the fire in the wood burner and have a lovely cosy evening watching a box set. So I ate the food, started the fire, got cosy, couldn’t make Netflix work on my TV in my lounge and ended up falling asleep on the couch… Till 7 am! LOL. No problem though because I still went back to sleep afterwards till midday. It was so nice to spend time there on my own though, usually I’ve got a houseful! Glad I made the effort though, must do it more often.

Panto with Patrick
Very excited about Saturday afternoon, I’m going to see Gabby Bradshaw in her annual charity Feb panto, this time with lovely friend Patrick Hoy! See if you can make it, near Honor Oak Park station in SE1! More news next week 🙂
Mummy Time
Me and my sister Linda made sure we went out with mum one of the afternoons this week, ticking the box of mummy time! After our errands we ended up in the garden centre and another cup of tea or coffee and a slice of cake! This time it was the Blue Diamond one in Lower Morden Lane, round the corner from where we used to live growing up. So we took a little diversion past what used to be our middle school and is now a housing estate. Very Nostalgic!
The Ultimate Classic TV trivia Quiz!
Here’s a good one to try! My family WhatsApp group always dip into the Joe Friday quiz but there’s often a lot of US centric or sports questions so I rarely get more than about 12 or 14 out of 25.
This quiz is based on vintage TV, only a couple of the questions are purely US-based, and out of 60, I got…. Hang on, the result is at the bottom of this blog, but try it for yourself first and see how you get on. (Try it here).
I tell you what, it just reminds me how much telly we used to watch back in the day, when everybody in a family did the same thing, rather than sitting there with everyone on different devices – in silence! To be frank, even when my kids were growing up there weren’t any devices to distract either, just a desktop computer or two in slightly later years; fortunately mine were never really into them.
When I was growing up, the eldest of five, we would all sit there at night, in front of the fire (no central heating), with our feet against the fireguard, getting warm, laying on our sides propped up on our elbows, watching the 24” TV, all in a row. Morecambe and Wise, Dad’s Army, Fawlty Towers and the rest. What lovely, lovely memories doing this brought back. Yes they are mostly American TV series in the quiz, but we had all of those as well, didn’t we! See how many you get.
Watch – so much to see at the cinema! Must endeavour to get there at some stage. I would’ve done so one day this week but I ended up on Wednesday, my most free day, having to go and get a tyre fixed because a little chunk of metal had created a slow puncture. Mind you it meant that I ended up being really glad I bought the halo bolt charger! The instant compressor blew up my tyres from 20 psi back up to 33, so I could drive myself to the tire place! More than £200 later, off I went to get my Apple Watch mended (the top had mysteriously come off), and they couldn’t repair it either so I bought myself a new one, another few hundred pounds! Then the check up at the dentist which wasn’t cheap. Goodness me what a day! I drove past the cinema, does that count! Anyway, there is ‘The Holdovers’, Emma Stone’s marvellous ‘Pretty Things,’ and Andrew Scott (the priest from Fleabag) in a new romantic drama. I hope I get the chance to have a bit of a cinema fest in the next week or so. Mind you it is Jasper’s birthday, he’s two on Tuesday so I will have a flying visit back to Wales mid week! It’s all go!
Funny – Literal Education… saw this funny on Facebook or Twitter, made me laugh! Can you imagine! Sort of thing I would do 🙂

Vlog – I need peoples’ help with my conundrum, so take a look at this week’s #thursdaybantz (here), where I explained the choice I have to make, is a difficult one! About next week’s calendar. And an invite I might never get again! The exclusive on the newsletter this week is the result, what I decided to do! And also on the newsletter for my subscribers (see below for details how to subscribe), I ask what should be the new picture on my social media, from the choice of two given by the team! Sign up to make sure you get the regular Friday emails with exclusive content!
Book of the Week – Been liking the latest from Elly Griffiths – ‘The Last Word’. Featuring three of the colourful private detective characters previously introduced in the Harbinder Kaur novels, and Harbinder herself – familiarity lending me a nice jump start to getting into the story. Now if you loved the ‘Thursday Murder Club’ then this style of writing will be right up your street! Funny, quirky, endearing and harmlessly enjoyable – it’s a standalone but I bet there’ll be more! Elly wrote the Dr Ruth Galloway forensic archaeologist series, one of my faves last year. Worth a try!!
