Been here there and everywhere this week! Tuesday went out with friends for lunch and theatre in the evening, see below. Then Wednesday after a day of doing emails I joined 11 of my lovely esteemed QVC friends and colleagues to go to a gala or in the age of the women’s refuge charity, organised partly by Anouska.
What a lovely time it was! A big Porsche hotel in a big marquee with lots of lovely food and it was really nice as well. And everybody looking very glam, lots of laughs, dancing, joking laughing talking sharing, empathising, explaining, And so much more.
I ended up giving lovely Ali a lift home, so many of the girls look gorgeous in sequence. I wore my Deborah dress (the style is actually called Deborah!) lovely velvet and pockets! I bought the wrong shoes but hey I was comfortable and that’s what counts.
Here is Lorna’s little montage.
And here is lovely Ali Keenan’s!
I hope if you had a nice event this week you also had a smashing time!
But the countdown is on…

Out out #2
So, time for celebrating! Went to Devil Wears Prada at the theatre!
Had such a lovely time and such an amazing meal. The old Compton restaurant I think it’s called, with the most amazing online bookable theatre menu, £29 for three courses and a glass of something. Patrick and my friend Sara and Christina and I all loved the theatre production. Really amazing performances, comic turns, drama, and impact 🙂 loved it very much and will probably go again one day 🙂 highly recommended 🙂
Out / in –
Coffee with Gill… and penguins!
Went for coffee and lunch with my lovely friend Gill and admired the penguins at Chessington Garden Centre. We worked out it’s our 43rd Christmas of knowing each other! Scary! So were the penguins, a little bit! Shame I can’t get in with the kids (quite different from being down wiv da kids!) to their grotto thing. Looks really good.
Maybe another year. Got to work out what to do with Blake and Kaleb on the 23rd somewhere near Coulsdon/Croydon/Sutton. Any ideas?
Elevate Brain Training
Look at this chart showing over the course of time how my brain is actually improving. All these little exercises and training processes, all amounting to making my brain more sharp with those specific processes. Not anything else though I still left my keys behind… 🙂 LOL
Exclusive – on this week’s newsletter (sign up to get yours in the inbox every weekend), the exclusive content is the Photo Booth picture from the gala ball, and what the most unexpected symptom of ADHD was, for me! (see below) Hope you’ve got yours through okay!
Watch – With so much out there, and so much on the telly, I thought I’d just give you a simple one this week – how ‘do they know it’s Christmas’ – the song that kept Last Christmas by Wham! off the top spot that year – could’ve sounded very different had it not been for George Michael’s suggestion… See it here.
Funny – And this send up is quite a funny version as well!! Quite clever! See it here.
Funny – 2 – been looking at more things to do with ADHD and finding a lot of it resonates with me, it’s not to say I am terribly terribly high up on the scale, but definitely am a bit… well, some of it. Three drinks on the go at the same time, poor timekeeping, messiness, hyper focusing on one thing but only for a while; amazing lateral thinking problem solving, or juggling so many things at once… Does that sound like someone you know! Well, several things that are listed, just describe my world! It’s really weird when you read something about other people and go oh my God that’s so me! And it really is.
The specific issue with being late, a thing about not being able to gauge time, made me stop in my tracks – as I listened to a professor talking about it. He said for an ADHD person, “there are only two times: ‘now,’ and ‘not now’!!! And we don’t act until it’s nearly ‘now,’ then we panic. But panic brings on adrenaline. And apparently adrenaline is similar to the drugs with which they treat ADHD. So when we leave it to the last minute we’re actually self-medicating! How about that! Anyway watch the video on my newsletter or look up on Insta for a couple that make me laugh, @adhd_love and see what you think 🙂
On my #Thursdaybantz Facebook Live this week, a couple of people said that it was them to a tee, as well and they only just discovered it. Comes on worse with menopause apparently. See it here.
I’m down for the first Monday of January ‘menopause your way’ show, looking forward to it!
I’ve also been collecting little messages from people for my New Year’s Eve hours, see you in the New Year with me & Miceal on QVC, if you can!
Vlog – a little reminiscing as we walked to the theatre on Tuesday night! See it here.
Book of the Week – Interesting one. Have been reading the latest one by Nadine Dorries which is burging on a little bit depressing to be honest, called ‘Downfall.’ Really well written and put together though I think. It’s no wonder her fiction books do so well. I finished Audible original, ‘The Christmas Party’ by Kathryn Croft, superbly narrated by Billy Piper. I liked it and it’s worth reading if you’ve got a subscription because it’s free. But definitely not a jolly Christmas cheer type story!
‘A Christmas Wish at Woolworths’ is going well, more of the same, spending time with the community in and around everything in Kent, by now in the 1950s. (I ended up reading this one without reading all the ones in between because it had the word Christmas in it, and then when I got into it I thought I’ll just carry on! Suddenly some of the younger children are all grown up and married! Oh well!)
But I’d like to say thank you to Elaine who left a comment on my blog last week, recommending, ‘It Always Snows on Mistletoe Square,’ by Ali McNamara. Looks good!
By the way something that popped up when I bought that one is completely different, if you remember this is going to hurt by Adam K, he has a series of Christmas diary NHS recollections, called ‘Twas the Night Shift Before Christmas!’ Read by him as well. I listened to the sample and it’s very funny. But it’s only two hours and 20 minutes long. You might like it as a little light entertainment though and something completely different!
If you have any really really well written Christmassy Audible recommendations for me, especially where the female narration is not from a trebly high-pitched voice who doesn’t do male dialogue very well, I’d love to know!
