Plus a brilliant new debut novel and a competition to win one! And a super Sealy mattress/bed today’s special value on Sunday. And don’t miss Bruce with Bodyblade, back during the daytime next week, to get your body, summer-ready.
But first, it was time for That’ll Be The Day – our Annual songs through-the-ages /& sketches show, at Epsom Playhouse, with mum, sis, relations and friends. Trevor Payne the main guy, celebrates 40 years of his touring show next year, featuring covers from the 50s and 60s onwards, with a supporting group and singers who are all absolutely excellent! Another super night of skits and send-ups – his Mick Jagger was particularly funny this year!

It reminds me of being at a holiday camp when I was a kid! That kind of entertainment. Just about on the right side of occasionally bawdy, and proper performers, like they had in the olden days! If you can catch the show, please try, they do a Christmas one as well, but apparently it ends next year, as one of them retires. Well he is nearly 80! Same as most of the audience, including Mum and her partner who were bopping away and singing all the words!

Thank you mummy for another super evening!

Well Done All
I’m having a bit of a change in my voluntary work, this year, following eight years of helping my Association – and Area Management Executive – in Devon. I’ll be calling a halt to volunteering as an events organiser and laterally a chair, after one of the toughest county elections ever. So much hard work, and not even their fault that many didn’t get re-elected. Well done team you tried your best! I will stop being chair in the summer. At Area (whole of Devon) level, November’s 80s event organising (going to be such fun!) will be my last. It’s been an experience for sure! But I need to spend more time with the grandchildren and that’s the best reason isn’t it? I’ve loved working alongside Sam Penfold, one of my besties down there, and Debo, Marion and co!

Peculiar Experience
These are from my daughter this week after I felt a little wobbly following a weird experience at QVC. Whilst doing a midnight hour, I was accidentally given boiling water to drink and took a big mouthful and swallowed it before I realised! Then promptly had what must’ve been a panic attack. I had to go off air for seven minutes – poor Abi Cleeve from ultrasun – thank goodness she was able to keep going and fill-in! I came back on, and said ‘thank you for covering my coughing fit,’ but it wasn’t that, I was hyperventilating in the back model room! I don’t want to repeat that again in a hurry! (More about that on this week’s Vlog).

VE Day
Five years since we did our famous lockdown VE day tea party and wartime singalong! Thinking of the fallen on the 8th of May, always significant in our history.
Exclusive – on this week’s newsletter (sign up to get yours in the inbox every weekend), the exclusive content is Lee Hohbein in shorts! And a rather rude autocorrect funny!
Watch – I know I said it before, but this time I started watching it – Yellowstone! And it’s every bit as good as people have been describing. If you can get it, or whatever series you can access, give it a go. My friends said to me it’s okay you can watch Yellowstone first because the generations are so far removed, you don’t have to watch them in order. (The prequel are called 1883 and 1923 – the latter having Harrison Ford and Helen in it! Definitely going to be watching that next !)
Blooper – Charlie turbie – hilarious!! Specially when he gets all dizzy LOL
Vlog – I’m afraid it’s a bit of a must watch if seeing someone crying with laughter is your thing! It’s a long one, but there’s a lot packed in! (Including the in-depth story about how I got the flowers above) This week’s #Thursdaybantz… see it here.
Book of the Week – Firstly, one of my tutors at Retreats For You in Devon, is Rosemary Dun and one of her books has been re-released this week. ‘The Trouble With Love’ is about love’s messiness, with quirky characters and difficult decisions.
But now I need a big drumroll, for one of my writing pals (friends since 2009), Litty Williams. She has finally released her first paperback novel! I have a copy to give away in a competition on my Facebook page! Go here to enter.

It’s really good debut novel called ‘People’s Choice’, set in a dystopian future. Litty Williams’ debut comes after more than 15 years of study, honing her craft, and it’s really well written. Compelling characters, a precarious setting, and it pulls you straight in from the beginning. It’s good for 10 to 18-year-olds as well. Her characters live in a dystopian world where gaining credits on a harsh reality show, is the only way to gain life-saving resources. Highly recommended!
