Can’t tell you how much I was looking forward to the break this week on a proper holiday nr Bordeaux in France. Regulars will know I go here every year and I see all my writing friends. Lovely weather, great food, excellent company, and I am relaxed by about halfway through the second day. Such a nice feeling! Especially walking down by the Dordogne river with a new dog called Mungo and one of my friends Kaz. It’s a Morning routine!
Had some lovely sleep. My God I needed it. First day when I arrived I went straight straight to the room, literally, and dumped my stuff and just climbed on the bed and zonked out, it was that bad! Had some more breakthroughs with my novel and I’m actually not that far off finishing it finally after all these years!
I’m here till Tuesday, so more about this holiday next week! And look out for the montage below and much more on my social media! By the way they’ve got a poetry week in July which they’ve still got spaces on in case you’ve ever wanted to learn, go to @chezcastillon nr Bordeaux, find them online! And the French stick is amazing! LOL
And here is a quick little tour around…
Beautiful isn’t it! I’m loving it.

Menopause Ma’am’s
Had such a fabulous show last week with just two guests to chat to on the couches, Lorna and Adele. Abby was on at the start as well. Such funny moments and a really good feel good factor, with some helpful ‘menopause your way’ type products as well. Look out for a little montage of five of my top tips for products that can help menopausal skin and hair, on QVC’s social media soon – and I will share it as well.
Congrats Lara in Sweden
Look at my lovely niece, my brother‘s daughter, and how she has grown over the years! She turned 18 last month and this week my family went to her graduation from her school in Sweden where brother now lives. Mum went and sister went with their partners. I obviously would have gone but this week was just a clash that I couldn’t avoid. Anyway well done Lara, very proud of you! I will get over there at some stage this year.
Memoir Retreat – write your own life story in Devon this July 1
So if all this talk of retreats is making you think about writing your life story, why not come and join us on July 1, if you’re quick there’s a space. Alternatively in August I think the fifth, I’ve got another four week residential in North Devon at Retreats For You – in the charming thatched cottage in a sleepy countryside village, own room no chores, all food and super tuition. Go to retreatsforyou.co.uk / events page for that and other retreats for novelists and those who want untutored writing retreats to just get their book done that they’re working on. If you know someone who deserves to be treated, maybe get them a present – or part of it, we do vouchers as well! The August retreat may be less daunting, btw, a fabulous tutor again, this time she does something called micro memoirs, a beginning point for building up to your own proper autobiography :-). Join us!
Watch – obviously not watching telly this week, so thought I would include this, some of these little hints are really handy, hope you can see it! (See it here).
Blooper – turned up at the airport having carefully weighed my case, and it was 22.9 kg with a 23 kg limit! How pleased with myself was I! Then I realised that I had actually put myself down for, and paid for, two suitcases to be checked in anyway! Talk about a waste of time LOL funny though :-). See the pic I took in the Vlog link below. X
Vlog – 1st of the little montages of the holiday in France! (See it here). Follow my page on Facebook for more! Book of the Week – ‘Meet me at Pebble Beach,’ by Bella Osborne.
After some quite heavy stuff in the last few weeks, I have enjoyed this lighthearted romcom, about a girl who thinks she’s won the lottery and Jacks everything in only to find she hasn’t, then faces a major challenge in her new relationship. I like Bella’s writing, she’s been to the retreat in France as well I think and my place? I also started reading the Rob Rinder book ‘The Trial’ this week, I will report back next time!
