Film Fest n Family Fun!

Another packed week but then they always are, including going to the cinema (see the top picture, then read my film recommendations below).

Went to see the kids after returning from Devon. Blake now plays netball which was really good fun to watch albeit very frustrating, if you used to play netball, like I did when I was a kid. She’s very determined is my granddaughter, and spent ages practising with Brad my son giving her tips :-).

Then we went back to their’s for a bite to eat and I spent some lovely hours making puzzles with both of them, she and her brother Kaleb. I think Blake and I did about six puzzles before little man woke up!

I felt quite pleased that whilst I was there Kari and Brad managed to get out and go for a walk and a coffee together. That’s what mums are for!

As far as my mum is concerned, we went to her favourite café for the first time in ages, and I had cottage pie for a change and she had omelette, not for a change! She wasn’t very well this week and I had to spend some time looking after her and taking her to the doctor and making sure she was okay. She is so rarely ill, catches you unawares. Horrible kidney infection I think. Happily, she’s better by the time you read this, the wonders of antibiotics!

SNIPPETS

June n me

June is head of the Makeup Junkies and we have some right banter when she’s doing my face before a shift. She actually did my hair this week with the Shark equivalent of the air wrap and said she actually finds it makes the style stay longer because it’s a bit hotter, depending on the hair. See below for a Shark deal!

The jackets are back!

Guest Anne Dorrington and I both have lots of the famous Denim & Co jacket, 177 300.

Well, it was back – in different colours! So I thought I might put one of them on. But the dark red won’t be in the studio until this Monday but tune in after that if you want to see it before buying!

Ali K

My lovely mate Ali Keenan sent me a picture of herself on holiday with her black version. Looking lovely as ever! She said she misses everyone but is enjoying her time away. I do hope to see her soon – maybe at the medical detection dogs event! Details further below, come if you can on the 12th of November in the afternoon.

By the way, the exclusive over on my newsletter this week is a funny picture that a cameraman took of a shot he had created, not for General viewing! (If you’d like to get my email in your inbox every Friday, just follow the link when you click the word newsletter at the bottom of this page)!

Watch – I had a film night!

Decided to see two films last week, one after the other! Lovely friend and ex sister-in-law Allison came with me for the first one – that’s us in the top picture! The film was ‘The Critic,’ starring Ian McKellen, that I said I was going to see last week, it lived up to expectations, and was absolutely perfect. Set in the 30s, an era which I love and brilliant, brilliant acting and some nice plot lines 🙂 highly recommended – 8.5 out of 10!

Then I stayed on and watched Kate Winslet in the movie about a model photographer who takes some of the most stunning but terrifying pictures of World War II after the war ended, when she visited camps in Germany and photographed what she found. But the movie isn’t really about just that – that’s just towards the end. It’s more about her fight to be recognised as an equal to some of the other guys, and her relationships. Plus the setting for it is really interesting as well… I won’t give the game away 🙂 go and see it, Kate is awesome as well! 8 out of 10.

Funny – just had to include some of these funnies this week!

Vlog –  See it here. Hosepipe accident…. Oops! 🤪😁

Book of the Week – Well, after the triumph that was, ‘We Solve Murders,’ Richard Osmond’s latest one, I raced through an Audible members freebie by one of my other top authors, Joy Ellis (she writes Jackman and Marie detective thrillers), which was only five hours long it turned out. ‘One More To Die’ introduces a new detective, Kate Carter, who has a stalker who is more than he seems as she begins to investigate some murders all linked by the discovery of what they find near the bodies… Very good. And now I’m reading Jean Fullerton, once again, an author I always, always look out for. Her latest one is called ‘The Start of The Story,’ where a master of stories, Rowan, comes up against a hardened professor of Roman history, Connor – and what ensues. Hopefully a happy ending!
