So much family time this week, more than in half a year! Had the most lovely few days with my son. Firstly the Theatre – went to see Mrs Doubtfire again. Secondly I got to look after Blake, my oldest granddaughter, just me and her for two whole days (exhausting but wonderful) and saw Brad again when he dropped her off. Then this weekend I’m spending the weekend with Lauren & co as well, all at Brad’s, because it’s our family early Christmas! Lucky mummy/NanNan!
He loved Mrs Doubtfire (which I saw last year with the QVC theatre gang and have wanted to go back for sometime!) and we had a fabulous meal beforehand too. We started before 5 o’clock which meant we had tons and tons of time to catch up. Really love spending time with my boy.
Then Blake and I had lots of fun oh my goodness we packed it all in! Santa’s got her at the garden centre… where they “elf“ wanted Blake to play a game throwing snowballs, and then Blake said to her now it’s your turn! The young girl went bright red and did actually join in bless her, but made me smile given that apparently no one else said that to the girl at all the time she’s been doing it, at dobby‘s garden centre! That’s Blake!
Plus we went to the theatre, saw a jolly short panto at new Wimbledon theatre studio. Did a bit of shopping. Blake performed little dances and songs for me lots. Saw relatives. And she helped me wrap presents! What a lovely couple of days. Looking forward to the weekend now. And then some time to myself… 😉
SNIPPETS
Happy birthday sister
It was also my sis Linda’s birthday last week and I was lucky enough to get some time with her because she’s so busy nowadays training to be a counsellor. She came to the garden centre with us when I had Blake (which is why I could not go to their family meal thing that they planned) but at least I got to see her! Lovely sister. Happy birthday Lin!
Archive pics in the bar
The bar of the Shaftbury theatre, where we saw Mrs Doubtfire had some fascinating archive material and historical facts about the last century. I love stuff like that don’t you! See if you can read it, hope it’s not too small. It’s a wonder some of these places are still around considering everything that’s happened!
ALERT
Beware – gift cards in shops
A little alert regarding tampered with gift cards where someone takes the number and wait for you to load up your voucher then they spend it. Watch this (here) for more details and please check any vouchers you buy in stores very carefully!
Lower Morden Lane Lights!
On our way back from the theatre we swung by Lower Morden Lane, near where I grew up as a kid, and the most incredible light show down much of the road! This was just one of them, Blake was fascinated! I tell you if I lived in the lane I would definitely be joining in with the festivities! (Lower Morden, Surrey – SM4 I think!)
ADHD funnies
Omg I’ve been loving some of these. My friend Caitlyn thinks that she’s the same. So many people are actually! And this is totally totally absolutely 100% me! LOL specially this week with all the clearing up I had to do at home. It was like an absolute hoarders paradise with a little pathway all the way through, and then I stayed up until 7 am one morning finishing it all! Anyway watch this one (here)! And send me some if you find any, that you think I’d like!
Exclusive – on this week’s newsletter (sign up to get yours in the inbox every weekend), the exclusive content is the blooper, yes that one! I was honestly trying to say “smells like a cocktail“ (Philip Kingsley today’s special value, Sicilian lemon and Bergamot!) Eek!
Watch – obviously Mrs Doubtfire! And Blake actually made me watch Happy Feet. It was really quite good, I enjoyed it! When I haven’t watched actually is ‘elf.’ Seems to be lots of people‘s favourite. Must have a try! But this is the time of year when I will be watching loads and loads of lovely Christmassy movies including Groundhog Day, Holiday Inn, White Christmas, It’s A Wonderful Life, The Holiday, Love Actually, and more!
Also here’s something cute from my gang at work. Well done to Lorna Ko one of our Besties, this is just perfect! (See it here).
And that song that the BBC refuses to play. It’s a shame though because Lonely This Christmas would have been one of my all-time favourite Christmas songs. (It’s true though 🙂 – wondering if it will still be number one for downloads this Christmas!
By the way there will be lots of messages for our New Year show, with me and Miceal, as I’ve been collecting them from many of our guests and fellow presenters!
Blooper – apart from “that one”, (mentioned on the newsletter this week and all around the building at work!) some giggles for you if you click here! One of my favourite Christmas songs, I’ll never hear it the same again in future! (See it here).
Vlog – not so much of Large but just thought this would make you smile, this transformation! It’s actually my present to myself this Christmas, the Dyson straightener. So you may be seeing more of this style in the New Year 🙂 (See it here).
Book of the Week – Been loving the Christmassy ones again. Hopped onto ‘New Beginnings at Christmas Tree Cottage’ by someone I know, and really enjoyed it. Has quite an interesting premise, an RNLI connection, details about craft and art, really interesting attention to detail too – from a lady who writes as Georgia Hill, who comes to our writing retreat in Devon. I’ll definitely look out for more from her and I hope there are lots on audiobook! A family moves to a Dorset town to escape London and memories on Christmas Eve. A case of mistaken assumptions leads to the perfect conflict between a couple who are made for each other, and some interesting stories thrown in with other characters like the mother and the daughter amongst other things. Well worth a try!
