Faux tan mishap!! And Devon days n sneaky peeks!

So this week just before I went on TV, I had a fake tan mistake, which could only be rectified by rubbing it in some more. Talk about Goldfinger! Serve me right for wearing a pair of shorts! I probably could’ve got away with slightly white legs, but instead by attempting to make them look browner since I was showing my knees for a change, I ended up doing my own impression of The Oscars statuette! Or that’s what they said in my ear anyway. I haven’t seen people crack up like it for a long time including Abby Horne, during the actual Dyson show and at the end of the night, Alice backstage, who had tears in her eyes laughing up close at my poor legs! The poor makeup lady, Natalie, who had tried to help me blend it all in (once it was applied and it was too late to get it off) ran around not knowing what to do, looking at the monitors when I was in the studio and saying “what am I supposed to do, her legs are green!” I won’t do that again in a hurry! I’ll stick to Tahitian glow by Laura Geller in future instead of using an old cream faux tan!

Anyway, had a lovely week off down in Devon, some pictures are below. Been organising the leadership hustings for Devon and a bit for the South West for members, so been busy as usual! And had a houseful learning about micro memoirs or personal essays, an easy bite-size chunk way of writing your story. It was a fabulous group, lots of laughter as usual. They enjoyed their tour around the village and took some lovely shots inside the rooms at my place Retreats For You. The tutor was great as well, Margarita, I hope she comes back next year!

Btw the exclusive on my newsletter this week – what women can do and men can’t do, on video! Fabulous! (Nb See bottom of this page, click “newsletter“, to sign up if you don’t get them already, and you will get an email each Friday in your inbox).

SNIPPETS

Lovely Lily

Look at this breathtaking colour on my balcony this week, absolutely stunning isn’t it! The chard is continuing to come up really well, also!

Judith’s gang

Had an extra unexpected hour when someone was poorly last weekend and ended up being on for a whole show with lovely Judith Williams who was over from Germany. Her brand guest Raphaele, gave me a nice arm massage with one of the products, it was lovely! Try her retinal serum super-Duper size for the month of August!

Pretty Pink

And sticking with the theme of pink, this lovely monsoon top was also on this week, item 408101 – very nice, even without the broom! LOL. Not really dressed for sweeping up using the TSV JML broom that day, but the other end blows 🙂 literally LOL.

Watch – How is this even possible? – songs turning 50 in 2024! (See it here).

Meanwhile me and the school friends I have known for 53 years at least, are due to meet up again beginning of November, yay!

Funny – with the sequel to ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ confirmed, Meryl Streep having her birthday this week (and me having booked to go and see the theatre version late autumn with my mates, hooray! ) I thought I’d show you this funny:

Let’s hope the new film is as good as the reunion at the SAG awards earlier this year, of the stars of the film, Emily Blunt, Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway. An all-time classic. It got me onto reading several other books by the same author, Lauren Weisberger, which I really enjoyed, back then – including Harry Winston, Château Marmont and ‘Everyone Worth Knowing.’ I’ve just noticed there are a couple of others which I will have to go back to as well! I love it when a favourite author has a book out that you don’t have to wait for, don’t you?

Vlog – Instead of one of mine this week, watch this interesting little talk about mind and body connection 🙂 (See it here).

I found out about all this stuff 10 years ago this year. Amazing how time flies 🙂

Book of the Week – So my friend Gill does love her first edition. So I signed her up to the Goldsboro Books book club. Once a month a really deluxe hardback arrives. And this month it is a really special story that I think you will love if you like what I like. It is called ‘A Little Trickerie,’ by Rosanna Pike. Clever writing, excellent narration, unexpected ups and downs, following the journey of a girl born into vagrancy (initially) in the time of Henry the seventh, not long after the little princess disappeared from the tower. We follow her through her life, growing up through twists and turns, showing what life could have been like back in the day – harsh. And one girl’s search for love against adversity, freedom against oppression, and happiness versus expectations of what her little life would turn out to be… really loved it.
