Remember Gerald? Daisy my brown Labrador used to have a boyfriend, his name is Gerald. When my lovely Poggy was alive and living with me in Devon, we would regularly go and see my friend Jennie nearby in Shebbear and her lovely crazy spaniel. Jen made me a lovely lunch and it was great to have a super catch up, the different thing about this lunch was that I actually took time to eat it slowly, (der), and talk to her about lots of things (including a little moan about her parking project in Surrey!) Since we haven’t really seen each other properly since probably April! Can’t believe it’s gone by so quickly. But then I always say that.
Then we retired to the lounge for some more chats. Accompanied by the latest addition to the household who just turned up one day, hung around, then eventually moved in.
Problem is dog is currently severely ‘nose put out of joint’ because of… Cat!
Poor Gerald! Reminds me of those funny videos online where the cat stands like a ninja waiting for the dog to pass by then bats ferociously at its head! So I gave him suitable amounts of love and cuddles sitting on the couch with me, and said it was time to go back and make dinner for my guests.
Yes, Devon was another full on week with another great group. But that’s it now till the end of January!
One thing I did do during the week is tell everybody about my plans to try and find a buyer to take over from me and pick up the reins and continue the good work of retreats for you, been here eight years this month, and need to spend more time with daughter and grandchildren in Wales, and get my fifth book written! I do love it here though, but if someone was going to run it and I could come here as a writer, that would be ideal! If you know anyone let me know. Go to my…
Vlog – … here on Facebook, where I do a weekly Facebook live chat, called #thursdaybantz. Here is this weeks, it was a late one, live from my studio, find out what I’ve been doing and more about the house – do grab a cup of tea and have a little peruse.
SNIPPETS
The Girls Get Together – and dogs!
When “the girls” came over this week, including Sheena, Barbara, Sheila and Penny, Penny bought her two doggies as well! Everyone’s been in the wars lately, so my little moan about parking permits for our flats in Surrey paled into insignificance! LOL. Can’t believe I’ll only be back briefly before Christmas and then it will be the New Year and time to see them all at the end of January 2025! That will officially be the ninth year since I moved to Devon!
Cath Kidston kettle combo!
Had a lovely today special value day this week with some S fixx strip lights. The kitchen set ft none other than the two little bee devices, the kettle boils really quickly, and the toaster which is a thick/thin four slice and has a useful reheat button. I love how they look and it makes everywhere look really smart! And being cream in colour they can go with most types of decor. If you don’t mind a few bees poking their noses into your life! I’ve got them in Devon and I really love how fun they are! There’s also matching earbuds so you can listen to your music or stories in the kitchen whilst you’re getting the toast and the tea done! I do.
Ancestors
Bit more reminiscing as well, when the click free photo editing software created such a brilliant and much more clearer version of the original – these were my dad‘s dad (the one on the end, on the left) and his mum and his siblings around the return of the century. So sweet. The father was Charles Henry Flint (not pictured here, it’s the exclusive on this week’s newsletter, along with the pic of funny food at RFY!) who went away to the war when this pic was taken – and it looks like the family were not too poor. I will let you know if anything else crops up!
Exclusive – on this week’s newsletter (sign up to get yours in the inbox every weekend, alerting you that the new blog is out as well), the exclusive content is a flashback to meet my great grandfather Flint, and some funnies! It’s quite a comprehensive one this week! Hope you enjoy my weekly emails, to sign up below and press the word newsletter.
Watch – bit of nostalgia for you, boomers. Remember Sooty and Sweep? This is really well done! Should raise a smile in most of us! (See it here).
I’m hoping to have a film fest this weekend at the cinema on Saturday night, we’ll see! Very rarely I’m not doing something on Saturdays!
Blooper – I can’t show you a clip but did you see this week with Carla over in style on Monday teatime? Basically I got the giggles when we did a cummerbund on the Kim and Co hour. I said you know what he’s called… Benedict. Get it? Benedict Cummerbund. Carla didn’t get it for a second and then when I was killing myself laughing so much I had tears in my eyes, she finally got it. Would’ve had more impact but I initially said Dominic for some reason – that definitely wouldn’t have worked!
Meanwhile, here’s a lovely second funny for you this week! Almost took me a moment to realise…! And I love puzzles.
Book of the Week – ‘The Little Village Christmas’ by Sue Moorcroft
Sue is an excellent writer, I met her years and years ago (crumbs I’m talking 10 or more years back) and she is a really good writer. I love how she creates conflict in her stories, and how she brings characters back together again at the end. Really enjoyable tale of a café renovation that goes sour and how two starcrossed lovers find a solution, and find love in the process, one Christmas in her fictional village of Middledip. Very good and perfect for this time of year!
