Given how it was a lovely day last Sunday – in between the showers, Mum and I went down the road in Banstead to my niece Becky‘s allotment. I used to live just opposite there and always wanted one, and now she’s got one I said I’d go down and help. It was lovely actually, and mum really enjoyed having a break from being indoors with her knee elevated.
Mum said it reminded her of when we were kids and dad and grandad had an allotment at what they used to call ‘the chalet’ allotments, opposite Mitcham Fairgreen. She said they were really happy times as she watched us all runaround, helping to dig and water and pinching grandad’s tomatoes! Well now she was watching me run around helping Becky clear up, weed, lay black sheets of anti weed webbing, and put together a little mini greenhouse amongst other things!
Hopefully I’ll get the chance to go back over there and help her out, it really is special spending time with nature, and now I only have a balcony at the flat, it’s lovely to get down in the dirt and plant stuff! I gave her a couple of foxgloves which had sprouted in my pots on my balcony – I don’t know if you’ve noticed but it’s a very good year for foxgloves! Becky is hoping to grow some salad plants, and probably tomatoes as well. I promise not to run around pinching them! Fingers crossed we have a good summer for it 🙂
SNIPPETS
Lara and me
My lovely niece Lara came back from Sweden for a few days, it’s her 18th birthday this month and my goodness she’s grown into a lovely young lady. (My brother Glenn‘s girl, who I used to go and stay with at weekends when I worked at QVC during the time I lived mainly in Devon). We had a lovely takeaway, and some super chats and catch ups! Had a super time with my grandchildren as well one night this week when I went and got them after school and we went on a nature trail! This is the exclusive, a little video, if you get my newsletter. See below if you don’t and click ‘newsletter’ to subscribe. You get exclusive videos or pictures every week and a reminder in your email inbox that my new blog is online!
Nadean n me
My fab mate Nadean From Banstead arrived at the flats and we did a little delivery of a leaflet about the local fire station together. My goodness me, going up and down all those stairs I was pooped by the end of it! I needed a fireman to rescue me ha ha. There’ll be a lot more where that came from, I’m sure, given the next six weeks!
Bridgerton name
I haven’t watched the latest season yet but both of my kids are into it so I really must! My Bridgerton name is Lady Lynne Waterton of waitroseshire!! Lol!
Watch – This is fabulous! It’s doing the rounds online this week, thought it would make you smile and fascinate you 🙂 like it did me :-). So many wonderful singers featured, check out this appearance on the late great Paul O’Grady show. Cristina Bianco @xtinabianco1 (See it here).
Also, of course, Bridgerton season three! I need to catch up on season two first!
Blooper – We had so many lovely questions over bank holiday weekend about different presenters and the unusual things they did, and I was looking for some old bloopers of mine from years ago when I was on Children’s BBC (that was one of the questions).
But instead my eye was caught by this one. So funny. And only 2014 – literally 10 years ago. My goodness menopause has got a lot to answer for. And so does Phil Parker and his cheeky question!
And of all the questions posed about the different presenters over bank holiday weekend on QVC, my favourite fact? Ophylia, who won trophies for bingo calling! Amazing 🙂
Vlog – not quite a Vlog but was fun backstage this week with the crew! (See it here).
Book of the Week – Julia’s fun fact (and Jackie’s, funnily enough) was that they both write books and this week Julia’s new one, ‘My Daughter’s Lies’, is Out! What a lovely cake she had to celebrate with her family!
“Do I risk tearing my family apart to keep my daughter safe? Because when my secrets come out, I could lose my precious girl forever…”
A completely compelling and heart-wrenching listen about the strength of a mother’s love for her child. Perfect for fans of Liane Moriarty, Amanda Prowse and Susan Lewis.”
I’ve got it on audiobook and will listen to it soon 🙂
