Yes, it’s that time of year again! Had a nice day out on Wednesday this week with friends and family, early birthday celebrations for me for the 10th!

First, I had visitors on bank holiday Monday, the kids came over with a lovely pair of earrings and flowers and cards, and sis and Mum and her partner popped in as well!

Then we laughed as the kids did typical kids stuff with all the toys and so on, that I’ve got in my flat, including making this camp! I left it out for a day or so afterwards, so it could make me smile 🙂

It was lovely to see everybody and especially nice to see my boy. But it didn’t stop there! He also took me out for supper and to see a musical at the theatre – which we always enjoy (See “Watch“ below). The top photo shows us on the balcony outside the theatre in Old Compton Street where, yes, you’ve guessed it we had supper! It’s fast becoming one of my favourite places LOL. Wednesday was a nice balmy evening, and the pavement café culture was definitely evident in Soho that day – lovely.
This weekend I am going to have lunch on my actual birthday with my siblings, and see Bruce from Bodyblade on Friday! Looking forward to it immensely! Hope you are enjoying the sunshine if it returns any time soon! I’ve always loved having a birthday in May, partly because the weather is often good. And thanks to everyone who sent me a card at work (QVC London W4). And thanks to those of you who wished me a happy birthday on my WhatsApp group which is for people who don’t do Facebook. (Email me to find out the link to join and introduce yourself, my email address is on this website just look up to the top I think).
Also had lots of kind wishes from everybody on this week’s #Thursdaybantz, my Facebook live that I do weekly and I’ve started giving you sneaky peeks on there! (See it here). You don’t have to wait to get the blog to find out! Although, if you do read the blog as well, you can then have a proper recap of the upcoming offers. We realised it was five years since the VE day singalong I did during lockdown. Goodness me! How time flies. Enjoy! Happy birthday to you if it’s yours this week 🙂 birthday buddies!
SNIPPETS

Literary Lunch with Litty
Yes, my friend the author of ‘People’s Choice’, Litty Williams came with me to celebrate my birthday and her book launch. Do try if you can! It’s about a dystopian future where lower class citizens can work their way up, win valuable resources and medicines, in a harsh reality show. But there’s a real ‘defending the indigenous people’ twist to the plot and she wrote it several years ago! We also had lunch in Soho (at the, ahem!, Old Compton Brasserie! Lol). It was a great day. She signed one of the books to the winner of my Facebook competition, well done Allison Halfhide. Do feel free to pick up a copy by ordering it at a bookshop or online, here.
Goose babies at work
That’s goose babies, pictured at my work. Not babies being put to work! LOL at least I think they are geese? Or some elaborate duck! Took this out of the window in our presenter lounge the other day, when these little darlings were parading around the edge of the pond in Chiswick! Let’s hope they are protected by their parents from all the urban foxes and they’ve got somewhere safe to be! Cute, aren’t they? Don’t you just love this time of year? Plus all the lovely flowers that are in bloom – the cherry blossom trees, the lilac and wisteria, bluebells emerging, too – and there will be a few shots soon of the amazing floral extravaganza down our drive in Banstead as the rhododendrons start coming out as well – stunning colour therapy.

Naked Gardening Day
Another floral display on view – thank goodness that’s all that was on view lol! Lovely Lorna Ko posted this on ‘naked gardening day’ – good old Lorna, very arty! And obviously fellow guest, the very fit Tommy Cross, got in on the act as well, … can you imagine? After seeing him during one of the gardening shows, many people didn’t NEED to imagine! And as a special treat, that’s the exclusive on this week’s newsletter (sign up to get yours in the inbox every weekend)!
Problems receiving emails?
Please note you may now need to tap the tab at the top of your inbox to see ‘all mail’ – e.g. on the Apple mail app, it recently changed so you have to tap till it shows “all mail“, in black on the right. Rather than “primary“ in blue on the left at the top of your inboxes, which restricts it to individual messages that have not been sent anywhere else. Or else you might not find my newsletters 🙂
Watch – ‘The Ages of Adaline’ – I’m watching it on Amazon Prime although I saw a really interesting trailer for it with a long clip of Harrison Ford emoting… and whenever he emotes, that’s fine by me! Looking forward to watching it in full. (He is in my top five ever, ever, Ever, of favourite actors; he has been, ever since Empire Strikes Back, LOL)
Watch 2 – theatre time again, and this one has Michael Jackson hits galore and some brilliant performances in MJ the musical. Brad used to absolutely love the song Black or White, when he was about six, and knew all of the words of the rap section. I still remember them myself, even now! So with great pleasure we went along to watch this amazingly staged, really well done, musical, set in the countdown to the ‘dangerous’ tour, interwoven with scenes from his childhood and early 20s. Really well cast I think and my goodness can that lady who played his mother, sing! Highly recommended if you were a fan of Michael Jackson’s music and can focus on just that part of his history.
Watch 3 – I’m sorry I just have to include this. Hard man Alan Ritchson, Amazon’s Jack Reacher, is an incredible singer! Listen to this (here)! Blooming amazing!
Vlog – from when I was walking up the West End on the way to the restaurant this week – I have seen so many West End shows now, it turns out I had seen most of the ones in my eye line! Here’s the Vlog I did that day. Apart from Hadestown I had seen retrograde, Les Miz, Oliver, not HadesTown… see how you compare… (See it here).
Blooper – thought I would bring you some fabulous QVC bloopers this week!! Hehe!
Funny – one of the best scenes in Friends was this one, absolute comic genius at its very best. They don’t come much better than this, it just got better and better as the scene went on. Could watch these clips on Facebook all day! And sometimes I do… LOL #ADD (Watch here).
Book of the Week – The Seven O’Clock Club by Amelia Ireland.
Saw this one this week and I’ve added it to my reading list! Looks good. Also the new one by CL Taylor is out and she’s always amazing!
At seven o’clock one Tuesday evening, in a perfectly ordinary tower block near Westminster, four strangers meet for the first time. They each have three things in common: all suffered a traumatic experience six months earlier; all exhibit a dogged inability to put it behind them; and all accepted an invitation to attend tonight’s counselling session with the unconventional Genevieve – a determined woman with an unusual theory to test.
A novel about friendship, strength and love, The Seven O’Clock Club is a reminder that life can give you hope. Even in the darkest of spaces. By Amelia Ireland
Also I’m looking out for the next one by Merryn Allingham in her Flora Steele mysteries collection!
