Big news for Liz Earle fans! And sneaky peeks…

(If you want to see the exclusive content each week, too, just become a subscriber – sign up to the newsletter to get it in your inbox every Friday, just press ‘newsletter’ at the bottom of the page.) I’m feeling a lot better and I had a great week down in Devon, so far. I’m actually here till Monday, this time round. More about that below. And it was lovely to see viewers Tina, Lee and Lizzie again, in for our taste of Christmas weekend (top pic).

Secondly I want to direct you towards this magnificent new Liz Earle today’s special value… Coming on the 20th of October, this Sunday 🙂 – you can buy it online now – Go here to see more about it then go to our website to get yours, 261100. Under £60!!!

Devon Experiment

This week I have been experimenting. Experimenting at being down in Devon for a whole week. With a weekend retreat on the back of a regular four night one. Gives me lots of other windows to do things with friends thank goodness, so of course I filled it all up! Did lots of stuff I haven’t got pictures for because I keep forgetting! But I did get this one of when my Devon ladies came round! First time in a while we’ve all been together here.

And when I say the girls you know, if you’re a regular, I mean Sheila and Barbara both in their 80s, Penny in her 70s, etc! I gave them a taste of original cake company cakes, a little bit of Churchills biscuits, and a soupson of Calico Cottage choccie fingers. It was lovely to see everybody, they’re going to come out and help me do Sunday dinner this weekend! Should be interesting…

My main aim was to get some good sleep this week and recover, fortunately I have done so. Mostly… well, you know me!

And it was very special occasion for one of my writer guests this week, see below to find out more 🙂

SNIPPETS

Julia and me when I did her regular fashion on Friday on style hour because she was on the main channel with Ruth Langford!

Julia is Coming on 12 November!

A rare chance to meet my pal, colleague and author Julia G Roberts at the medical detection Dogs event in Milton Keynes.

It’s an afternoon tea and there are now no less than six (possibly eight) QVC faces going to be there including Allison Keenan! Gill Gauntlett, Patrick Hoy, Lorna Ko, Marie Françoise Wolff, and Beverley Cressman amongst others!

It’s £49 per ticket because it’s all about fundraising, for this amazing charity which helps humans.

There will be a raffle and a chance to bid in an auction as well, e.g. to spend a day with Patrick Hoy, and more – do come! Tickets here.

Autumn is here

Look at these beautiful colours on the autumn leaves that were kicking around in the car park in Okehampton when I was in Devon this week. It was full on stormy and windy and these were blowing around. Such beautiful colours nature creates, right? I do love this time of year but it was a shame we didn’t have more of a summer!

Fab Fajitas

Dish of the week – I included some of the butternut squash and kale from the night before, in this delicious chicken dish! Must make it more often! I had to bring in a few extra dishes above my normal rotation, considering two people stayed there for the whole seven days! Made a delicious bread pudding as well and this Sunday it will be a proper Sunday roast and Barbara and Penny will be coming to help me do it! Fun! I will report on it in next week’s blog 🙂

Exclusive – on this week’s newsletter (sign up to get yours in the inbox every weekend), the exclusive content is… what I got on my fingers when I was in Waitrose! Bet you can’t guess. Obviously if you already saw the newsletter you will know. You will also know that there was also a rather cheeky blooper with Jackie Kabler! So funny. And a little bit rude, so I thought I’d put it on my newsletter rather than on my blog! Don’t forget to sign up below!

Watch – I must admit I stayed up a bit too late doom scrolling, and saw so many fabulous funnies featuring pets. But this one, it’s just short, but well worth a watch, it made me laugh out loud! Hope it raises a smile with you too. See it here.

Blooper – I’m afraid I had tears in my eyes when I was watching this this week! See it here.

And don’t forget the funniest blooper with Jackie and Claire who does Skechers, the link is on my newsletter this week 🙂

Vlog – very proud of one of my guests on 15th at Retreats For You in Devon!! Watch this (here) to find out why.

Which leads nicely into…

Book of the Week – Well why not!

The first this year with a Christmas theme, and it sounds fabulous. ‘Christmas at a Highland Castle’ by Rachel Barnett.

Jess goes to house-sit at Christmas but soon discovers the Earl, and King of the castle, isn’t quite what she expected… Forbidden romance, and a picturesque setting – if you like Downton Abbey you might like this! Sounds really good, well done Rachel my lovely Retreats For You guest! (Have a look at our retreat events here). Well worth a try!

I’ve also obviously been continuing the Nadine Dorries’ Four Streets series, set after the war and true to the 60s, in Irish enclaves in Liverpool, with some beautifully drawn characters and storylines. Really really taken to another level though, by outstanding narration by Emma Gregory. Book 3, The Ballymara Road was fabulous, bk 2 Hide Her Name, before that, was compelling and gripping, with twists and turns and injustices that I wanted to see righted, almost as page-turning as a Jeffrey Archer novel. I listened a lot while I was doing manual stuff in Devon so now I’m on Book 4! And really liking it. Well done Nadine.

It’s the stacked dual zone air fryer with smart cook, it’s going to be huge! But the footprint is small! Don’t miss it 🙂

Next week – couple of unusual things for me, organising a zoom for the leadership contest as it moves to the voting stage (the GB News hustings are probably the best thing to watch on YouTube and easy to look up if you’re at all interested, I know many won’t be but some are). And also I’m going to one of my regular checkups at Guy’s hospital for my genetic malfunction, called EPP. They do a liver scan every year for me to make sure that the porphyrin plaque in my capillaries and elsewhere hasn’t built up too much. And another meeting of the directors at my flats in Surrey. No rest for the wicked!

Best wishes
