At the end of a very long week last week including various meetings and putting on a big event for 100 people(!) in Devon, I headed off to Wales. Had a lovely time with the kids. It was a very hot day on the Sunday morning when we went to the beach about 20 minutes from Lauren.

As you can see in the top picture it was very sunny and I actually had to shelter in the shade for a bit and cover up completely including some gloves. (For those who don’t know I actually have a genetic thing that means I can’t stay in the sun and I’ve spent a lot of my sun minutes driving mid afternoon with the heat blaring down through the windscreen, the day before!) But it was still lovely watching them play, they had a little paddle and so did I, and then we headed back for a lovely lunch in the café.
Little Jasper is such a rascal, he thought he’d show me a trick or two…

Luna the dog is doing well after her knee operation, recovering well enough to not have to be left in the crate all the time! Bless her. And I got some lovely presents from my thoughtful daughter. For more information about what we did, including what Phoebe made for me with her own fair hands, hopefully you’ve got this week’s newsletter! (Click on the word newsletter at the bottom of this blog, to sign up for your weekly email from me in your inbox!)
Never enough time when I’m with them – the visits are always too short, but at least overnight is better than nothing. They come down at the end of July but I hope I will pop over there in June at some stage again, too. That concluded this year’s birthday celebrations, and weren’t there a lot! See last week’s blog if you missed what I was talking about!
SNIPPETS

Devon Events!
Had a very busy Friday, lovely mate Jennie came with me and helped at two events, one at lunchtime for under 26s, and one in the evening with 100 people, for my Association and Area Group, in Devon. The Exeter venue was lovely and the food was amazing. It was very hard work, but we raised quite a lot of money which will be very welcome. Glad it’s over and I’m very proud of what we achieved! We’ve got an 80s event in November, then that’s more or less it as far as I’m concerned for the Association stuff in Devon! Got to write my book. Hopefully I’ll do some of it when I’m away on the cruise at the end of May!

Litty’s Ladies Lunch
Talking about writing books – my lovely friend Litty, whose brilliant YA book, ‘Peoples Choice’, was released recently, was given a surprise lunch by writing pals including my mate Suzy who I know from France. It was a super warm day again and delightful to spend time with the ladies catching up. I must admit I have very much missed being more active in the writing community, actually writing myself! When I make the tweaks I need to make, fingers crossed I have more time to balance it up.

QVC-Towel!
Look at this, how much fun is this tea towel with self portraits of so many of the behind the scenes team. The floor manager gang created this for one of the colleagues who was leaving and I thought it was good enough to put on here this week, they get up to such wonderful things at work! So innovative, well done guys!
Watch – next week I’m going to see Mission: Impossible at the cinema, can’t wait, apparently Simon Pegg steals the show. Meanwhile, funny new ‘baby versions of adults’ AI videos have been a wash on social media! I liked this one from Jeremy Clarkson‘s the farm! Cute! And also the content is really funny. (See it here).
I haven’t seen Clarkson‘s farm and to be honest I haven’t had time to sit down in front of the telly this week but one day I’ll start watching it – apparently it’s brilliant!
Watch 2 – bet you watch this (here) more than once! Thought I’d include it because my sister has been talking about me singing when we go on the cruise and I’m really not sure if I’m going to! Maybe a bit of karaoke, we’ll see.…
Funny – Clara’s baaaack! More autocorrect fails!! This woman is epic! (See it here).
Vlog – guess where I was this week! (See it here).
Book of the Week – Oh my goodness, so having got stuck into book one of the Lynda La Plante series featuring Detective Jack Warr, I immediately romped through the second, Judas Horse, and I’m now on the third in the series, Vanished. So, so well written. The second one is based around busting an international burglary ring, with very dramatic scenes, moments, and tension-filled page-turners. The third one concerns a missing person and the link to murders connected with a drugs ring. I interviewed Linda years ago, I can’t remember why – I want to say it was when I was working for LBC as an occasional reporter in the early 90s. She is absolutely awesome, and it would not surprise me in the slightest to see this made into a TV series. Really empathetic characters, she lets you get inside their lives so you really care about them. Very inspirational to read. Just found out there’s another two after this, so I’ll be well happy for the next couple of weeks!
