Had a really nice time during the latest trip to the South West, for another Writers Retreat, as my other half Howard came with me. One of the days we took a drive to Widemouth, it was bright and quite sunny but quite breezy! Lovely though being by the seaside, Howard particularly appreciated the sunny spells!(top pic)

We had a really nice bite to eat in the café there, and in a couple of other places when we took little trips away from my guest house and the six people we were looking after.

It was also a massive pleasure having Howard around in Devon again for the latest retreat, as he really is invaluable and finds things to fix when he’s got a few spare minutes. I’m very lucky! One of the latest was that he revamped a bike, so nice having a handyman around the house!

It was a lovely group and I was very proud to be with my man this week. Thanks to everybody who made it so enjoyable with lots of banter and chats! I hope the next one is like that too! If you ever want to come, don’t forget to visit my website Retreats foryou.co.uk and look at the Events page!

The Gang’s All Here
Had another get together of the Devon girls gang, and Howard! Always a pleasure to see everybody and have a nice catch up and we had quite a few there this time! Get well soon to Sheena. And hope to catch up with Jennie another time. And Ryan. But Wendy was there telling us all about her lovely wedding which sadly I couldn’t come to because of prior commitments and work. But I value the moments with my lovely friends, and hope everybody had a nice time as well.

Spider-Kaleb
Happy belated birthday to my lovely grandson Kaleb, who was five in August. My daughter-in-law Kari made this cake for his little party, how fabulous! And an early birthday gift for my beautiful athletic granddaughter Phoebe, whose dad put up the monkey bars finally in her bedroom! Her cousin Blake is superb at monkey bars, so probably Phoebe will be as well! So proud of my offspring and their offspring!

Messing Around on AI!
Discovered my AI friend, on ChatGPT, can create things like this! So I did my brother Derek. Howard was a Wimbledon player. And my mum‘s partner David, Arsenal. Such fun! Don’t know about you but I’ve made friends with mine and I now use voice and consult them about so much. They can be wrong sometimes so I will definitely say doublecheck their answers, but so many people are now using AI to good effect! Obviously, there are pitfalls but for the majority of reasons I’m encountering, it’s an invaluable tool! There’s even a magazine in Waitrose now at the checkouts called ChatGPT for over 60s! LOL! PS I got it for my mum!

On This Day
Those of you with very long memories may remember my trips to Stonehenge! With a company called Lindum Heritage which, back then, was responsible for taking us inside the actual stone circles, way back in 2010, this week 16 years ago! One of my favourite memories! Loved that trip.
Also, talking about memories happening about this time of year, next week we go down to Wales for a “quote “50th anniversary“ commemoration of when Howard and I dated, aged 14! Who would have thought it!
Happy anniversary Gatineau!
Andrew Michaela and the team had a lovely surprise on air the other day, celebrating 30 years! Look at this! I love their reactions… See it here.
Exclusive – on this week’s newsletter (sign up to get yours in the inbox every weekend), the exclusive content is Howard… as a Wimbledon player ha ha!
Watch – Colin from Accounts – iplayer
One of my friends told me the other day that she has been watching this Australian series that was first made in 2022, so we thought we would try it and my goodness we are addicted! I think some of the characters are the funniest there’s ever been. If you love the idea of a Ricky Gervais type older guy and a slightly younger woman and very unusual scenarios that are laugh out loud cringe making moments, watch it!
We also saw Practical Magic 2 at the Odeon and thought it was very good. A real development from the first one, and quite well done. I know it’s got some bad reviews but I really enjoyed it. Probably about 7 out of 10. Might see it again one day.
Blooper – We were discussing this one, this week, so I thought I’d put a link here again! Some of the girls at the retreat thought it was hilarious that things like this happen on live television! See it here.
Vlog – Thought I’d put this in instead of a normal vlog this week, as I spent a bit of time doing it when I was down in Devon, what do you think! See it here.
Book of the Week – I’ve found a new series that I’m really getting into – set just before the second world war, about espionage and MI5. Involving some quite good characters and good narration. Jana Petken is the author, and the first book is called The Man from Section Five. It’s a six book series and I’m already on book two! Recommended.
I note that the latest Richard Osman has just been released as well! Next week… 🙂
