It’s silly me even starting with the words “another busy week” isn’t it? Or maybe I should make it the way that I always start my blogs! Ha ha!
Anyway it was…
Firstly, a massive weekend of big offers including the annual x-mas one from Neom, and on Saturday a really special Ninja that stacks!
Plus only two weeks left before it’s the Milton Keynes afternoon tea where you can find out about medical detection dogs and we still have 12 spaces so if you know someone who you think might love to come, let me tell you that my mate Julia Roberts is now joining us along with Alison Keenan and other QVC faces!
But first the serious stuff…
This week I was summoned to Guy’s Hospital just outside London Bridge station, for my annual fibroscan (google it, it’s quite interesting) aka liver plastography (or something like that), all to do with my genetic medical condition called EPP. To make sure my most important detoxing organ is not being overwhelmed by the residue of my body not creating a certain enzyme. **
Anyway, I quite enjoy going there, because it is an expedition that is something completely different to anything else I do all year, and I end up with results that usually confirm I’m doing okay, basically.

It doesn’t make a lot of difference to anyone other than me, but I was very pleased this time round, because my measurements from the fibro scan are well within the normal range, not fatty liver, low signs of scarring/damage et cetera. (I guess the plaque somehow can create buildup and damage to the liver in some people with EPP). And I’d treated myself to a lovely spaghetti Bolognese dish with lots of vegetables and a nice cup of tea in the Bermondsey wing atrium restaurant! Here’s what I did when I was walking through the area!
Vlog – my annual check up (See it here).
That’s it for another year, hopefully they’ll be good results again next year! Bearing in mind there’s only 250 people in the whole country that have got EPP, it’s unlikely there will be a cure but the exciting thing is that this time round the doctor I saw who filled in all the tick boxes this year, said that there may be the chance to be part of a trial next year for a tablet you take and it helps against the effects of the inflammation caused by an episode. So you never know, I might one day get to finally go diving in the Egyptian seas before my time is up!
SNIPPETS

15 years of friendship and writing!
Believe it or not it’s 15 years since I went away to the Watermill at Posara, for a Mills and Boon writing course where I met some super ladies. We’ve stayed good friends.
Lovely Alix down in Devon is another of my besties, and the rest of the team are these three,

Maureen (aka Merryn Allingham, writer of the book Shop murders successful series), Litty Williams, about to have her debut novel published, a YA fantasy set in a dystopian world), and crime writer Carolyn Mahony, (who’s also been writing books for years and you can find them on Amazon. Amazon!) We had a lovely lunch in a place called Tozi near Victoria station, and cut the world to rights and talk about all things novel, and our memories of the last 15 years. Look them up online if you fancy a new book. What a lovely time we had!
Also…
So I had my hair done… (See it here).
And by the way when I was in there I unusually looked at a Vogue magazine, the latest one for October. And guess who should be featured with an article about their attempts to conceive and early hysterectomy, none other than our previous benefit guest, Lisa Potter Dixon, top make up artist! I sent her a message when I read it! Very interesting, poor girl. But inspirational, well that’s Lisa!

5 mins to Fabulous Hair
And then I got rained on, slept on it, and it looked like this (in the left of the picture!) But… The excellent thing is that with my trusty Air wrap, I’ve not only managed to turn my unruly mop into bouncy curls, it only took five minutes! Five minutes! I know! Just love my Dyson.
Exclusive – on this week’s newsletter (sign up to get yours in the inbox every weekend), the exclusive content is a lovely picture of my son Brad when he was little, that I found when I was excavating the loft this week! And the shocking state of my loft in Devon, that I have to clear out soon because we’re having a woodworm treatment done, eek! Sign up for the newsletter below (where it says “newsletter” at the bottom of the page :-))
And don’t forget you can catch up with me regularly every Thursday on my Facebook page with my #Thursdaybantz! Usually around 10 pm. See this week’s here, talking about something stupid I did in the kitchen!
Watch – Watched two things on the TV this week, unusually, but I needed some downtime. The first I just flicked on while I thought I’d look for something else and got a bit engrossed, which was the BBC’s ‘The Plot to Kill Margaret Thatcher: the Brighton Bomb documentary,’ or something like that. It was very heavy in parts, as you’d expect, and morbidly fascinating. However, I just love nostalgic programs about the 80s and this had lots of old footage and news clips and things like that and I remembered what I was doing when this all happened, almost exactly 40 years ago. Scary times back then, but some memorable times in more ways than one.
Blooper – This made me laugh, on Alex Kramer’s insta!! Lol (See it here).
Book of the Week – Well I finished reading the final book in Nadine Dorries’ four streets series, and loved it, focusing on different characters this time. Then I realised this…

Look, I have downloaded 700 audiobooks during the course of my membership! 700! I’ve read most of them too! So I’ve got three on the go at the moment, and they are…
The new one by Julie Cohen, with a brilliant title, for a story about a female serial killer of bad men – can’t wait to start on my old writing mentor’s, ‘Eat, Slay, Love!’
The new one by Lee Child, this is one of the highlights of my year – the latest Jack Reacher.
‘In Too Deep’ popped up on my app after I pre-ordered it earlier in the year, what a lovely surprise! I love it when that happens! And I can’t wait to devour this one – Reacher gets inadvertently mixed up with a murder as the criminals think he is an accomplice… They will rue the day! I can’t wait to find out how. You can always rely on Reacher for revenge and retribution!
And I’m dipping in and out of Boris’s autobiography, not because I support everything that’s in there but he’s really quite a funny writer and it’s interesting seeing the other side of the coin. An eclectic mix this week!

** EPP
Erythropoietic proto porphyria.
Porphyrin build up.
Regulars will know what that is, can’t stay in the sun as I have a buildup of plaque inside my capillaries because my body doesn’t make a certain enzyme that would use up the porphyrins and otherwise avoid the plaque. Extended violet light exposure explodes the plaque and my hands puff up and feel like someone’s ironing my skin. So there you go! (See it here).

Bottom pic when I can feel it coming on, top pic is afterwards once things have got bad and it feels now like someone’s ironing my hand!
PS want to subscribe to my newsletter? Click on the newsletter button at the bottom of this blog. If you are AOL, Sky or Yahoo, you may have to add me to your contacts in order for it to come through, and sometimes even then it doesn’t. So if you can subscribe with a different email if you don’t get it between Friday night and Sunday night each week, that might help. One lady told me she didn’t get the first one but she did get the next ones. Exclusive content just for my newsletter posse! Thank you all 🙂
Meanwhile if you cannot do that, maybe follow me on my social media where each week I will post with my new blog goes up
