Debbie Flint

54 years of friendship and counting… and sneaky peeks!

Yes, it was time to get together with my middle school friends, whom I’ve known since I was nine, one even longer. Sharon Foreman, Dawn Hill and now Laura Holmes, (as they were) are in our little Morden Farm Middle school gang going back to the early 70s and it was nice to have a catch up. Although nowadays a lot of it is about who’s ill, what we forget on a regular basis, and grandchildren! I love it! Always a pleasure to see my wonderful old friends. There are only a few I’ve known longer than them, so it’s a pleasure to put it in the diary. Hopefully Denise Barnhurst can come again, to the next one in September!

The rest of the week was taken up by preparations for going away, sorting out the last few tickets sales for June 10 and getting the auction prizes prepared! Like an afternoon with Patrick Hoy, or this magnificent beauty bundle worth well over £500 from Alison Young.

I’ll be posting them all online and if you want to join in you can come and join our Events WhatsApp group even if you can’t go. But do come along, a venue just off White Hall on June 10, midday, buffet lunch included, you get to meet medical detection dogs and hear about the charity, and some QVC faces including Patrick McCoy, Lorna Ko, Ali Keenan and more… the last few tickets are available on this link.

More next week.

SNIPPETS

Congrats Sister!

My wonderful and inspiring sister Linda, graduated from the first part of her degree to be a counsellor this week. Meanwhile she still does her sessions at Surrey osteopath and beauty clinic in Westcroft Leisure Centre in Carshalton, Surrey. There’s an offer as part of the afternoon tea auction prize to get your nails done with Linda, too, actually! She’s worked so hard for so long and really knows her stuff, she will be a great counsellor. Well done sister, very proud of you.

Alison Cork rocks it in the times!

Another inspiring woman. Wow, look at this lady go! We all knew she’d lost a lot but this is really impressive. She’s written a book as well by the way if anyone feels inspired and is that way inclined. Any little helps in menopause, right!? Meanwhile, back to the buffet on the cruise LOL… no, seriously, Alison is really impressive! I hope to be inspired by her by the end of this year. Read more from Alison here.

Bank Hol Games

Played snakes and ladders with Brad and Blake and Kaleb when they were over on bank holiday Monday, and Blake is super competitive. She needed to win so we played until she did! Don’t know who she takes after! LOL. When I come back from my holiday I have them for three nights at the end of that week, babysitting while Brad goes away with his wife Kari, so I’ll make sure I take this one with me! Always lovely to see them even if I did need a lie down afterwards ha ha.

Exclusive – on this week’s newsletter (sign up to get yours in the inbox every weekend), the exclusive content is a little glimpse of how my Mallen streak is coming along! A close-up, without the Colour Wow brush on hair colouring!

Watch – Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning, at the cinema, Tom Cruise on a mission to save the world. Yes, it really is the whole world this time. Very cleverly done, based around AI. Fabulous characters and action, as usual, and all super-impossible in terms of plot and action scenes, but who cares. Suspend your disbelief and enjoy it! I even had a little tear at the end, and it was nice to see some really key British actors in this, three of the biggest roles in fact. They were all superb in their own way in this boy’s only fantasy action rollercoaster. If you loved the others you will adore this. 8.5 out of 10.

Funny – I love these two. I love the Britishness of their style and what they sing about! Have a little chuckle… See it here.

Vlog – had an interesting #Thursdaybantz this week (see it here) where I revealed the auction prizes! There may be an eighth one of a set of novels from the QVC authors. Watch this space, next week!

Book of the Week – Well, I’ve progressed with the Jack Warr detective series, by Lynda La Plante. And very good it is too. She is so good at setting the scenes, I’m learning a lot because this summer I will be finishing my book. I promised Bruce from Bodyblade that I will, so I will! You can keep me to that.… Anyway, Jack gets involved in lots of other cases in the succeeding books, I’m now on book four and I’ll probably have finished book five by the time I get back from my cruise! Very highly recommended and I can see it easily as a TV series. She is so talented.
