Sis is Sixty! And Christmassy presenter fun on QVC!

By the time you read this, this will be nearly Christmas! Hope you have the most wonderful time of the year, so to speak. Hope all the presents you ordered from QVC before 8 pm on Wednesday arrive okay. Hope you get some proper me time and a proper break.  And fingers crossed you get what you want from Santa!

Lorna Ko had some fabulous fun enticing several of her fellow guest presenters and some of us, to participate in this adorable video she and Michael Perry did with the help of Patrick Hoy as widow Twinkie LOL, and the rest of us joining in with the countdown to Christmas! Click on this link, it’s well worth watching – see who you can spot! Lorna and some of the guys on this video are some of the nicest, best colleagues ever! Love them all 🙂 well done everyone 🙂 and especially you, Lorna.

And it was another busy one…

Sis is Sixty!

So this was the week in which my lovely sister was 60! She has had a lot of wonderful holidays and celebrations, and I was delighted to take part in the big family one on her actual birthday. She’s been on holidays, had tons of dinners and lunches and outings and celebrations and cake. On Tuesday, her actual birthday, when she was 60, we went to her daughter Stephanie‘s house, where we were also spending Christmas. And she brought in a bake at home chef who cooked everything and even cleared most of it up before he left. It was really lovely and lots of the family were there.

It was a surprise to her because Glenn, my brother, wasn’t supposed to be there, neither were some of the other brothers or mum, so she had a little weep! Mission accomplished 🙂 . It was a great night and thank you very much to niece Steph for arranging! Linda loved it and it was a very special night.

She means so much to me and I’m so lucky to have her in my life and I’m even more proud than I’ve ever been before of her – esp of the fact that she is now training at age 59/60, to get a degree in counselling. Just like my other two brothers. So mum will eventually have five children who all managed to finally get a degree. Some kind of record for our family esp considering no one had ever really gone to uni, apart from uncle Jeff, before me. Here’s my tribute to my lovely Sis and a happy birthday, here’s to the next 60!

SNIPPETS

Naughty but Nice!

Someone else who was 60 this month was lovely Patrick Hoy one of my best friends at QVC. Love this guy! He’s got lots of fashion shows coming up over the Christmas and New Year period so look out for him and follow him on his social media, he is @patrickHHoy! Check out this video of his very clever Christmas jumper. If we had sold them they would’ve sold out in an instant! But it’s the model’s own. Looking forward to my next shows with him, he’s always full of fascinating facts.

Had a girls get-together on the Saturday at Mum’s Bowls club, they did the most delicious lunch! It was truly tasty! We saw our sisters ‘ex-in-law’, Alison and Nikki, and had a really good time! Yes we’ve had a lot of get-togethers this week! Had another one on Monday lunchtime when I went to meet up with one of my best friends, Gill S, to exchange presents and have a catch up, and who should come in but none other than mum! She features in most of my pictures this week! It was lovely to get together with my friend Gilly and looking forward to going on more excursions with her again next year. We are due to go to Lyme Regis again in March, looking forward to it!

Christmas tree of the week

Had to include this one. A handmade card, created by some of the children who live in the refuge, given to me by the lady who collects the clothes and toiletries I supply them on a regular basis. A third of the residence of the women’s refugees are actually children. Remembering people are so much worse off, puts a different light on any of our problems, doesn’t it? Best wishes to all of them this Christmas and to anyone in a similar position. We are thinking of you all.

Watch – This week I watched ‘The Holiday,’ well it had to be done! Whilst I wrote some cards and did some tidying up. I also started ‘Vigil’, and ‘Reacher’ – they won’t disappoint! Yes, I know they’re not Christmassy, but next week there will be more than enough! But watch out for the review next week of Wonka! Or ‘The Wish’, whatever I end up going to see with granddaughter, Blake, and my nieces when we go out for the day on Friday the 22nd!

Hope you enjoy the telly over Christmas, we are spoilt for choice aren’t we!?

Blooper – Lots of laughs this week! Jilly described to me what happened to her this week when she was selling a mattress item in the launch of the today’s special value during the 9 o’clock show – she fell off the end of the bed like Charlie did the other week, leaning back on the headboard. How funny! But it was out of vision so nobody knew because she styled it out, and people helped her back up all off camera! but then she did it again, on camera! If anyone’s got the link please let me know!

Also a little funny for you this week, over on my newsletter, the exclusive is a Christmassy joke that is a little tongue in cheek! See below on how to get my weekly newsletter if you don’t already subscribe, it arrives in your inbox by email and lets you know when the latest blog is out each weekend!

PodcastGo here to get the latest Inside QVC podcast from Will Gowing, and the current one if you haven’t listened yet :-). Don’t forget there’s a massive back list to catch up on, too!

This week Will speaks to Michael Perry, QVC gardening expert, about big stories in the world of gardening for next year, January jobs in the garden and the return of my garden escape. Yay – means spring is on the way!

Vlog – If you want a little Christmas song, there’s one at the end of my current #ThursdayBantz Vlog! I did it from work and had full tart makeup on so I’m quite pleased with this one LOL! Makes a change from what I usually look like at home on a Thursday night ha ha. So do have a little watch and enjoy! (See it here).

Book of the Week – Well I started ‘David Copperfield,’ and although it was a free audiobook with a wide cast acting it out, directed by Sam Mendes, some of the early accents grated a little. I’ll try to go back to it again at some stage.

‘Yellowface’ by Rebecca F Kuang was only seven hours long so I finally got to read that this week as well. Sadly although it did make me want to listen to the end, it’s very cliquey to people who know about the publishing industry and about writing novels. Much of the book was also very ranty. The narrator did not have much light shade in her voice either. So whilst I can understand why some authors say it is their book of the year, ordinary people not so much perhaps. Jackie Kabler has also recommended another book for me which was probably her book of the year so I’m about to start ‘The Measure’ by Nikki Erlick, a bit dystopian, a bit sci-fi, sounds good!

Meanwhile if you want something Christmassy I also finished ‘The Christmas Promise,’ this week, another one by Sue Moorcroft. Has some fascinating (very in-depth) facts about hat making – that was the heroine’s trade. The hero is rather gorgeous though, and I enjoyed it! Give it a go 🙂
