What a busy week of going out out – Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday I was in the West End at the theatre! On Tuesday with my new other half seeing ‘The Book of Mormon’ – excellent as ever. H liked it a lot, it was so irreverent and un PC! See below for more.
On Wednesday, not only did I go to the Pompeii exhibition with my lovely friend Gill, I also went to the theatre in the evening with the wonderful Charlotte Avery, one of our super guests at QVC, and my mate of 40 years, Andrew Collins, a producer at QVC (top pic). And my lovely friend Christina who runs Bowden PR company. We had a fabulous supper at Brasserie Zedel first.

Then we went to see the parody of the movie Titanic, Titanique! Which was very, very good. Purging almost into panto a couple of times, but amazing, amazing performances and three of them were understudies as there’s a lot of sickness about! I must say it was my favourite of the week. On Thursday it was the turn of “just for one day” with my son Brad, for our Christmas get together. This was excellent in terms of feeling like you were at a rock concert, and apart from a couple of woke castings, it was very nostalgic, telling Bob Geldof’s tale of how live aid came to be and featuring some of the best music from the massive event in 1985. I spent it with some of the other Timmy helpers from Piccadilly radio, at Timmy Mallett’s house! (I used to work on Piccadilly Radio).

More about that over on my newsletter. It’s been nothing if not hectic! I’m going back to work on Friday for a rest! LOL. Hope you’ve been having a lovely time as well.

Pompeii Immersive Experience
Following our fabulous day out at the equivalent Tutankhamun exhibition/immersive experience in Excel earlier this year, my excursions mate, Gill treated me to an early Christmas present of the Pompeii virtual reality experience in the Excel. I’ve always been fascinated by this topic and went to Pompeii on holiday once. (Blimey, 20 years ago next year! Bloody hell.) This did not let me down. See this week’s Vlog below for more. Had a lovely lunch too, and a fabulous catch up, always lovely to spend time with one of my besties who has known me since I was 19!
Judith’s last shows
You probably know that Judith Williams announced that she was no longer going to be selling on QVC UK, for personal family reasons as she needs to spend more time with one of her family. Here’s a message in case you missed it. She and her range will be missed. Feel free if you’re a fan, to snap up the rest of the stocks now if you can!
Btw there’s currently a Liz Earle cleanse and polish pick of the month! Here’s my post about it…
Lorna’s Latest
Keeping up the Christmas theme, here is lovely Lorna Ko’s latest concoction, featuring many of the people in QVC, in front and behind the cameras! She puts in so much work I thought I would give her a shout out. Kudos to Ko!!
Exclusive – on this week’s newsletter (sign up to get yours in the inbox every weekend), the exclusive content is a bit more detail about going out with my handsome son Brad!
Watched This Week:
Love Actually – well, der. Of COURSE we did! One of my top five Christmas films ever! Hoping to watch over the next week or so – The Holiday, and Groundhog Day! (Regulars will not be surprised)…. (PS also started trying to watch (Netflix?) series about a girl who gets premonitions with Dakota Johnson, but the spider connection made it a bit silly, so have aborted that for the time being, may return to it in the future… Perhaps.) Love Actually is right up there with Bridget Jones Diary, Groundhog Day and Frequency as some of my favourite films!
Theatre: as above but also went to see ‘The Book of Mormon’ – with The Man. (My new other half, people who got my newsletter last week will know more!) It was every bit as funny as the time I went, years ago – especially the guy who plays the geeky Mormon who keeps getting the girl’s name wrong! If you’ve been you’ll understand! Very irreverent, very un politically correct, and very worthwhile seeing if you fancy a laugh (as long as you are not easily offended!)
Blooper/Funny
Charlie remembers this Joan Rivers moment as one of his best on air! (See it here).
And ANOTHER from Jackie this time wiyh Abby Horne and a particularly problematic morning issue…! (See it here).
Vlog – here’s an experience from inside the Pompeii exhibition! Immersive or what, felt like you were really there in some of the virtual reality headset installations! Highly recommended, go if you can! (See it here).
Book of the Week – Lucy Dillon – Are You There, Beth Cherry
Lucy’s love of dogs shines through as ever in this super new novel from one of my favourite easy-reading, happy-ending romcom authors.
Beth is recruited as a writer for a project called The Story of Your Life, she starts to gain more perspective on her own life. Run by the local retirement community, some of the stories she hears are heartwarming, some are heartbreaking. All of them, Beth notes, reveal a little more than the teller realises. And when she is sent an anonymous story of first love that threatens to destroy more than one family’s identity, Beth has to decide: is it sometimes better to keep a secret than reveal the truth?
Plus I also started one of Cathy Bramley‘s Christmas ones – ‘A Merry Little Christmas’ – as Christmas approaches and secrets come out, pregnant Merry finds out something about her best friend’s partner that may upset the apple cart forever… Very good so far!
