My crazy month got crazier last week, as I mentioned in last week’s blog. It culminated in a couple of events at the end of last week when I was in Devon. On Friday afternoon I had my lovely friends over for tea and cake and swapping presents! (See top picture). We had a right old laugh, me and the girls, and I’m looking forward to seeing them again in the New Year if I don’t make it down before Christmas. I also saw Alex my lovely friend, didn’t catch up with Sheena or Jenny this time but hopefully I’ll see them first next time :-).
I’d already had a couple of meetings that week, and then I got to put on an event for 100 people in Tavistock!
Tavistock Town Hall was the venue and it is such a beautiful place. Very historic. I used caterers who did a two course buffet dinner which went really well. Plus we had a super speaker (the exclusive in my newsletter this week tells you who it was! And what happened when I met him! See below about how to subscribe to my regular Friday afternoon/evening newsletter), And an auction and a big raffle. Hopefully it’s helped with a bit of fundraising. It’s always lovely to see my friends down there and I know so many people now, I probably knew 60% of the Hall, which was a lot of people! Anyway I breathed a sigh of relief when it was all over on the Saturday night, as it nearly went off without a hitch. Apart from forgetting to give the speaker’s lovely wife her big bunch of flowers and getting him to sign the House of Commons whiskey bottle for the Auction! Oops! Anyway, good time was had by all and that’s it till next year 🙂
I came straight back to the appointment on the Monday to put in my finished crown in my back tooth, with Satch who’s been my dentist for about 13 years, all of which time he’s been wanting to replace that back tooth! LOL. At least it’s done now. An interesting coincidence – Catherine Huntley worked for Satch as a receptionist I think or an assistant, in a former career! Anyway, he’s very good and I really never have problems as a result of going to the dentist now :-). I’ve kept the teeth to scare the kids with that weekend ha ha.
SNIPPETS
Menopause my way
Hosted another menopause your way last Wednesday, and had a packed sofa and a special guest expert. This is one of the most challenging shows you can do on QVC because there’s so much going on. Had great fun with Jane Scrivner, who is not on often enough, with her super range of skincare. And some lovely guests and chats! Hope you enjoyed it if you saw it. I chatted about it a bit on my #ThursdayBantz this week over on Facebook. I also did a Facebook live on the QVC page, just before the menopause show on Wednesday, just in case you want to go and look it up, some interesting chats with the guest expert Jo Hooper from The Merry Menopause website 🙂
Fab fast catch up w Fiona
Since I was in Dorking I couldn’t not meet up with my lovely mate Fiona Summers of Legmaster fame; they’ve got some really interesting new fitness inventions so do check out their brand on QVC. We chat non-stop and it’s always lovely to see people outside of work isn’t it :-).
Sister’s Salon
My busy week continued with seeing my sister who had been away for two weeks, when I got my nails done at the Westcroft osteopath and spa in Carshalton. She did a really good job but because they hadn’t been taken off for quite awhile, (she’d been going over them and trying a new technique to make them not lift and break because she was going away on holiday) so it took much longer than normal!
Watch – are you kidding? with the week I’ve had? LOL.
Blooper – LOL!
Ha ha, this really made me laugh, and I yearn to be that person on the sofa. Although it probably wouldn’t be Home Alone, I’m not sure what it would be. I quite fancy watching ‘The Family Man,’ the Nicolas Cage film – the kids bought me the DVD of it awhile back. And of course starting to watch some of my regular favourites that I watch every year including The Holiday and Love Actually and Bridget Jones Diary!
Podcast – Go here to get the latest Inside QVC podcast from Will, and the current one if you haven’t listened yet :-). Don’t forget there’s a massive back list to catch up on, too!
This week Will talks to Beauty tools guest, Niki McEwan, and finds out about her early training to be an actor, making the transition to makeup artist history, and ending up on QVC!
Vlog – had to share this incredible view from last Saturday, when I was down in Devon in a place called Ivy Bridge just south of Tavistock, for a morning meeting, where I got voted in as the Devon area fundraising person, helping with events for the whole of the Devon constituencies for my association …and there’s me saying I wanted to step back a bit ha ha. That will come, maybe after the next election, we’ll see. Anyway, I passed over some countryside with beautiful views and the sun even came out so I had to do this post! Enjoy 🙂 See it here.
Book of the Week – I have found a new legal thriller series! The hero is called Jack Kowalski, son of a Polish immigrant brought up in Manchester, with a love interest sidekick solicitor called Lara with a very complicated and unusual backstory. He is more flawed than some of the other heroes I’ve read about previously in other series. But the narrator is excellent so it makes for an easy read. Well done Olly Jarvis, the author! I’m learning quite a lot about legal procedures and court processes ha ha. Well I did want to be a barrister when I was 15. (Until I decided a chartered accountant would be better and then got waylaid into media LOL) I’m already on the second one called ‘Unconvicted’. It is fab!
QVC TOP DEALS FOR THE NEXT SEVEN DAYS
Friday (today) – go to qvcuk.com and search ‘today’s special value’ to see and buy what’s left of the Sanatoer set of two, 10 in one multifunctional scissors. Very affordable, good gift pricing!
Saturday – now this is one I can’t miss, it’s the Dyson airwrap as a today’s special value! My most favoured hairstyling tool. Make your hair shinier, hardly damages it at all, uses less heat, and if you do it right it lasts. Look at the tutorials online if you can’t “get it“ straight away. On sale right now so don’t miss it.
Sunday – after my weekend away with my kids this week, I’ll be back on Sunday night, including at 7 pm with what’s left of the Gatineau Defilift today’s special value, the final airing is at 10 with me followed by the Christmas grotto as we launch well and truly into shopping season for yuletide.
Big deals ending Sunday night
Go to this section of our website each week to discover the current ones which often end on Sunday nights if there are any stocks left!
Big deals are available on air for usually a week, they may be longer online if stocks last. Occasionally they last a couple of weeks but there are new ones every Sunday night so come back again and see them on the link above.
Next week should include:
– style – an apricot Jacquard dress, super affordable
– extra – it’s the McLaren car cleaning kit, gift boxed
– beauty – L’occitane bring us a five-piece gift of Shay collect collection and bag
– main – it’s the Ashwood leather purse and keyring gift set, again at a budget price!
Watch out also for the Acer chrome book with Intel Pentium processor and extras with a new digital big deal that won’t be on a channel so much is on our digital platforms 🙂
Now back to the today’s special values for the rest of the week –
Monday – time for a big High Street brand, monsoon, and the delightful Evie embellished jumper I’m sure you will love it! I think it will go very quickly so snap it up!
Tuesday – Monday night at nine I’ll be launching this, it’s the Mally six-piece two tone shadow stick collection most likely bullet-proof!
Wednesday – cosy home returns with the hooded coatigan, and once more at 9 pm I’m launching…
Thursday –… the Liz Earle 4-pc fragrance and glow gift collection, it’s quite incredible, and very very good value considering it’s got the fragrance in there as well!
Friday – more for you with a brilliant manicure set, from ‘spa–rific’; nano etched hardened glass four-piece manicure gift set.
Friday 9 pm – This will be a deep carpet cleaner and built-in stain remover from shark. And by the time it is on air there will only be just over two weeks left before Christmas! Eek!
Next week – our family Christmas with me and the kids at Bradley’s in Fulham, two whole nights and days including a trip to my niece Chloe‘s baby shower on the Saturday with just me and lollipop. Lots of playing, lots of lovely food and hopefully lots of laughter and not too many tears, and that’s just Bradley 🙂 LOL. Have a great week 🙂
Best wishes
