Debbie Flint

Lady Lorna, Duchess Debbie… and guess who?! Plus sneaky peeks!

A fun bash awaited me on Saturday night when I came back from Devon last weekend. Most amazing guests at QVC came on Lorna Ko, we are celebrating her 50th birthday, and we all had to dress up with a Bridgerton theme! Everybody looked lovely, and the venue was spectacular, with the setting sun across the river, as the venue was above a pub, in Barnes – looking out across the Thames! I think Lady Whistledown would have been quite happy with what she saw, especially QVC fashion guest Patrick Hoy! He really pulled out all the stops!

Ruth Frances and Tom Shepherd were there from QVC as well as lots of her friends and family and the most amazing string quartet who played modern songs like Britney Spears’ Toxic, but in an old-fashioned way!

Well done Lorna! A good time was had by all. Including me, which is something of a surprise given how little I like parties, but Lorna was worth it.

Another lovely friend that is worth it is Ali Keenan. She retires this coming week after 20 years at QVC, the last 13 of which have been with me there too! The exclusive over on my newsletter (subscribe below), that comes out every Friday into your email inbox, is the most cute picture taken at the 50th bash, but also a link to my little video tribute to lovely Ali. Good luck matey, I know we will keep in touch! Don’t miss her last show, a three-hour Diamonique special with Charlie on Tuesday at 6 pm!

SNIPPETS

Garden Glamour

What super weather we’ve had this week. I do hope you were taking advantage of the warmth! It was really hot on my balcony in Surrey this week, let’s hope it continues. We even did a shoe and accessories show from outside in the garden, even though where we film from is actually in the shade! Oh well it’s the thought that counts 🙂

Chicken Licken!!

Check the two latest additions out! Down in Wales, two more little faces are welcomed into the world, chicks which will hopefully live happily ever after and lay eggs! My dad used to have chickens, 40 of them one at one point, in our garden, the schoolhouse next Morden farm middle school in suburbia! Very popular with the neighbours… Not! LOL!

Met the Neighbours

Regulars may remember my friend Linda down in Devon sold her thatched house next to me in Sheepwash? Well I met the new neighbours the other day, lovely Hazel the mum and Zara, Jason the hubby and Mabel the dog as well as lovely Glynis, the other mum, who lives in the converted barn Annexe – and loves QVC! Nice to make your acquaintance, people 🙂

Watch – ‘Maryland’ on ITV catch up. Suranne Jones wrote and created this interesting family drama where the loss of a loved one brings two sisters back together again as they discover the person had a secret life. Set in the beautiful Isle of man, it makes me want to go there! Suranne is such an amazing actress I look out for anything she’s in. And was delighted that Stockard Channing also features. – She was Rizzo in grease (lots of surgery by the look of it, but an entertaining watch! Quite compelling!

Also, although I’ve mostly been watching ‘Succession’, I caught the start of ‘The Diplomat’ on Sky. (Alibi?) This one is also set somewhere fantastic, where they speak Catalan! A glamorous port location featuring yachts and jetsetters, and a diplomatic service setting, where they follow the trail of an accidental death that might not be so accidental. Funnily enough the main female character played opposite Suranne Jones, in ‘Gentleman Jack!’ An interesting watch, quite good. Worth a try 🙂

Blooper – Had a giggle at Lorna’s 50th, when Patrick Hoy came as this (photo at the top of this blog)! Top marks for best effort. But did you see what he had written on the little jar he was carrying around which were his “husband’s ashes”? ‘Lord Cyril Traylor…‘  and Patrick introduced himself as Lady Iona… get it? Well most people didn’t. So the funny thing was watching him explain it to everybody he met! Such an incredible guy, and what a fantastic effort he made for our lovely Lorna 🙂

Podcast

Will has done a special tribute podcast with lovely Ali Keenan, and considering her last day is on Wednesday, with a 4 pm show, make sure you listen to this here, and then watch out for her final 60 Minutes on QVC as she retires to enjoy her life and her grandchildren! We will miss her terribly

Vlog – Saturday (27th), is great British brands day. And we were asked an important question by QVC… Taking full advantage of Bridgerton mode, this is what we said! (See it here).

Book of the Week. Another of my lovely writing friends, Merryn Allingham, had a book out this week. In ‘Murder at Abbeymead Farm’,  Flora and her beau Jack, seek the suspects for the killing of a local rich guy – once more in 1950s Sussex. Love it!

Fanfare!! New Book Alert, my lovely former guest at my Writing Retreat in Devon, top-selling author, AJ Pearce, has her new book out! ‘Mrs Porter Calling’, book 3 in the Emmy Lake Chronicles, is hot off the press. Long-awaited, this wartime drama picks up where we left off previously and I can’t wait to read it!
