Oh my goodness what an amazing festival James Murden organised in Chipping Sodbury last week/weekend. Any of you go? It’s called the Good Times music festival, across six days with three artists or more every night, including some big headline names. We went on the Saturday night to see none other than the amazing band Madness – it was smashing! Lovely QVC friends were there including Lee Hohbein.

And here’s a little video (here) telling you more about what it was like with some highlights from not only the festival but also from the lovely Airbnb that we stayed at. I can’t remember what it was called, it was just a couple of minutes down the road once you get off the M5 at the Bath Junction but head north instead. Anyway…
I highly recommend going to next year’s – just ask @jamesmurden or google Good Times festival next spring! James was an excellent compere too!

We also had a smashing night out at the theatre this week and an afternoon matinee & supper with a gang of QVC pals too.
What we saw in the afternoon was pretty amazing!
WATCH #1
I’m moving the Show Review this week to the top of this blog because I have to say, on Wednesday afternoon, we saw the matinee performance of one of the best shows I’ve seen in a long long time at the theatre. Aidan from Poldark and Lesley Manville are the two lead roles in Les Liaisons Dangereuses at the National – but only till 6th June!

QVC guest and pal Charlotte Avery was one of the ensemble, and managed to secure some fabulous tickets for the five of us. My lovely colleagues Lorna, producer Andrew, and presenter Miceal were all there.
It was outstanding, in terms of staging, costumes, music and sequences (it was not a musical), and the acting was absolutely superb, particularly Aidan Turner. Oh my God he was brilliant. It was funny, emotional, dramatic, and more than I could’ve hoped for. The Lyttleton Theatre was also super and… Air-conditioned! Given how hot the days have been, it was a welcome relief.
I highly recommend seeing it if you adore high theatrical drama.
Then part two of the evening began!
We went off for another theatre show and supper with an even bigger gang of Qvc people … and my Howard – who enjoyed it the whole ‘Debbie day’ very much. (See below for the second production)
I also spent a lot of time at Howard‘s house this week, given our feet haven’t touched the ground lately, there were still lots of to-do’s… we’ve made a packed to not arrange so much. Although he goes away in a few weeks time for 10 days on his Annual European motorbike tour with his usual biker Pals, so we trying to pack in what we can in the meantime!
Life is good people, life is good!

SNIPPETS

Supper in Soho
The supper gang included Lee and Patrick (featured in my newsletter exclusive this week, see below.) plus Catherine Huntley, and producer Mark and his partner Andy (who by amazing coincidence used to work at Wimbledon police station in the eighties.. with Howard’s dad!)

Bank Hol Big Hat
Spent bank holiday Monday with Mum and Sister and co., It was very, very hot but made use of the huge hat some of u may remember was bought for me last October in Cyprus by my funny siblings! It was lovely to just relax enjoy the warmth… in the shade!

CT me
Had another First this week with a CT scan of my sinuses to see why I keep coughing all the time. Very weird laying in that machine! The best thing about it was that the room was really air-conditioned!! Also had a echocardiogram on my heart, which was similarly incredible! Look at this! See it here.
They said there was nothing obviously wrong at first glance. All of this is just a follow-up from my annual 360 Nuffield health check , on my QVC health insurance (thank u QVC!) And they tend to get you to go along and just have a checkup and a follow-up to make sure there’s nothing wrong rather than Leave things. Very lucky Debbie.

Exclusive – on this week’s newsletter (sign up to get yours in the inbox every weekend), the exclusive content is Lee Hohbein and Patrick Hoy camping it up during our supper in Soho! More photos from our super theatre day.
Watch – We also saw ‘operation mincemeat’ at the theatre in London after a splendid supper with everybody. It was a cross between a tongue and cheek production of 39 steps which I saw a few years back with my son Brad, then a smattering of Hamilton, and a splash of cabaret! A very good production and I would see it again although I must say it wasn’t quite what I expected. There are some absolutely genius performances including one that brought me to tears with a woman called Hester performing a song about a lost love in the first world war. It’s based on a true story of something that really happened in the Second World War, catch it if you can!
Blooper – Reliable as ever, here’s my colleague Jackie Kabler having issues with shoehorns!! See it here.

Vlog – I thought I’d be writing this but I actually went to a bike meeting this week! On one of the hottest days of the year, over 400 bikes and bikers turned up to the Five Bells (I think) pub in Chiddingly. We had a chat to a couple of Howard’s mates – he used to go to this on a regular basis and we turned up on his massive Valkyrie bike! Have a look at this for a little blog to tell you more! (Remember there’s a way of watching this if you are not a member of Instagram just look out for the buttons to click). See it here.

Book of the Week – I’m reading another Anthony Horowitz novel in the series about Hawthorne the detective. Really enjoying this series. This time, ‘A Line to Kill’ continues the adventures of real life Anthony with his fictional detective, as they take a trip to Alderney to get embroiled in a murder, the ‘first one ever recorded’ on this Channel Island! Very cleverly written, and the characterisation is superb. An excellent performance again from Rory Kinnear. Loving this set of characters!
