Well, it had to happen sooner or later, didn’t it! Having had an immaculate record with never losing my phone, breaking my phone (completely) or having it stolen, this week I gave it a dunk in the sea. How did it happen? Oh my goodness, you should’ve been there. It would’ve been a complete ‘you’ve been framed’ moment, however no one was recording it. H was watching, and decided that he thought I was either having some kind of funny turn, or mucking about because I literally couldn’t get out of the sea. To find out what happened in full, watch this week’s #thursdaybantz (which soon may become #fridaybantz, watch this space). But basically we took a trip to Widemouth near Bude, which turns out to have very long incoming waves that suddenly surprise you… Think Neil Kinnock, and you’ll get the idea! See it here.
Fortunately, I had some spare clothes in the car and I was able to join Howard in the Widemouth Café for a bite to eat. He was playing around with some photos and AI and produced a really good picture of us (see the pic at the top).
Anyway, it was a lovely week, you know what the weather was like midweek don’t you, well it was beautiful in Devon, just beautiful. We had some lovely times together as usual, I’m really enjoying being around this man and having him in my life. 😊

This week’s retreat group were learning all about the scriptwriting, from talented tutor, Lucy V Hay. I did some lovely dinners again, and Howard was the most perfect partner in crime helping me out brilliantly and he’s so good with people and talks to everyone.

If you ever wanted to come to my retreat, please feel free to take a look on my website, retreatsforyou.co.uk, on the Events page and book up as quickly as you can, especially for the memoirs one happening in August!
SNIPPETS

Bluebells in Banstead
Look at these, aren’t they lovely? Haven’t they appeared early this year! Saw them in the woods next to my flat in Banstead. Bluebells have been a theme on the garden shows I’ve done lately because apparently Spanish Bluebells are taking over English ones. So if you feel like planting some English ones feel free, QVC have some brilliant ones. Just search ‘QVC UK Bluebells’ on your search engine and you’ll see some of them. Some of the best are called ‘in green’.

Brad-leb
This is my lovely boy Brad when he was a kid and I’ve got to tell you, He looks so much like his son Kaleb. Only Kaleb is very blonde and has slightly lighter eyes. According to Kaleb, however, in a self portrait he did in school this week, he has fangs for teeth and very unusual hair… It’s the other exclusive on this week’s newsletter!

Chipstead Cafe
Simply Delicious café in Chipstead near the station, did us proud again last week on our long woods walks – we stopped off for a coffee and a snack and they are really lovely. If you’re anywhere near, do go in, they do lovely lunches and brilliant burgers!
Exclusive – on this week’s newsletter (sign up to get yours in the inbox every weekend), apart from my grandson’s self portrait, is when H came in to QVC to wait for me last week, a sneak at the guest lounge!
Watch – Project Hail Mary at the cinema. Created by the same people who did The Martian starring Matt Damon, I read this book ages ago and it’s made a fabulous film! I have to say I would go and see most things that Ryan Gosling is in. But this is really well done. It could’ve been so much more cheesy with a different actor, but he was absolutely fantastic. I will probably see it again sometime! The sun is failing and a teacher is sent on a space journey that leads to disaster, can he save the Earth… Literally! That and who he encounters on the way there, makes for some very entertaining, and hilarious in places, scenes. Highly recommended. 8.75 out of 10.
Plus from former QVC presenter Anne Dawson, watch this. Then read her story in the Telegraph, the link is on her Instagram post (here)! Well done Anne!
Funnies! Heheeee

Vlog – here’s what SHOULD have been the record of my trip to Widemouth beach just over the border of Cornwall on Wednesday last week! See it here.
Book of the Week – Well, I got to the end of my Lynda la Plante epic series. And found out that she only wrote novels around the first three scripts for Prime Suspect series. And I’ve read all of those! All of the Jane Tennison novels followed by Prime Suspect one, two and three. That means I’ve got to now watch the rest of the Prime Suspect series from season four onwards, to find out what happened after that!
So in the meantime, I’ve started a new book … ‘A Higher Duty’ by Peter Murphy, a Ben Schroeder series, this is book one. An outsider tries to make his way in the world of barriers to become a QC and be accepted against all odds… The premise is like the beginning of the Simon Michael’s Charles Holborne books, I enjoyed those so I hope I enjoy this one! I’ll keep you informed. But when I’m with Howard, I don’t actually read as much on Audible because we’re always talking! But I’ve got my long week coming up at work and that means that for eight out of nine days I will be making the journey in to QVC and home again so I usually catch up a bit!
