STOP PRESS - IT'S NOW UP FINALLY !! (18TH APRIL)

GO HERE TO SEE IT ON QVC WEBSITE. and see all the photos!

An unusual one for this newsletter this week!

My QVC blog has a technical glitch and could not post, so it will not go up till Monday. So I thought I'd post most of it here for you! Here you go - enjoy! And see below for the Elemis TSV deal launching tonight (Fri) and through the day Saturday (14th) - it's incredible!

(nb pics will be added later here on main blog on my website and will appear here on QVC when glitch is fixed!)

Lazy Devon Days for the Dogs

Daisy and Gracie have loved being out in the sunshine this week – wouldn’t you? It arrived, then disappeared, then arrived again, and I’m told the temperatures are going to be very promising over the next week so fingers crossed! I hope so as I’m down at my place all next week, back on Sunday! Nice to have a few days longer to enjoy the countryside and fresh air, don’t you agree? These two mutts certainly do!

Plus this week – attending a fabulous book launch party in London, and catching up with my descendants – all three of them! Also – the usual sneaky peeks of the week ahead on QVC…

This weekend’s deals on QVC
Elemis Alert!! Tonight at midnight (Fri 13th) it gets all exciting for me and Keeley – the massive Spring Elemis offer is launched! BUT here’s an Early Bird order link for anyone wanting to see it now, and more importantly, buy it now! Many already gone. It’s a fabulous launch of a new m=night cream too from the pro-collagen range – the overnight matrix – wow. Buy from QVC individually and it’ll cost £218, so for just £59.96 it’s a phenomenal saving of over £152!! Buy early by Clicking here to see it now

Plus on Sunday – a Set of 4 colour changing 2 in 1 solar firework lights, with a buy more save more offer. I must look out for those – it’s handy to have around the garden if it’s solar powered!

By the way if you can, go see my Facebook page, where I will put all the new links for Early Bird links as they happen including one at end of week for Molton Brown – click here to see it – it’s a public page so you don’t have to be on Facebook to read it – but if you are, ‘like’ the page (it’s not my main one, it’s specifically for all things QVC so it’s called Debbie Flint QVC Chat!)

At a brilliant Book Launch (AJ Pearce’s launch – as on last week’s blog

What do you do with a fluffy puppy or cat?
I don’t know about you but my two Labradors have a really fluffy undercoat! They love to splash in the water if I let them near the river down in the Sheepwash meadow, but afterwards for some reason it’s ten times worse. So I thought I’d try these fab gloves which have little nodules on them. They are good for catching all the loose fur, as you stroke the dog – genius! Good for cats too – do try them. Mine are loving the warmer weather and the gentle walks down the country lanes. To see one such walk, go here to my Facebook Vlog of the week – talking about the weather on Friday – isn’t it lovely? (you don’t have to be on Facebook to see it). Here’s our range of pet products – from food bowls to coats and clever brushes, anti-itch shampoos and fabulous food, there’s a lot to choose from.

SNIPPETS

Pic of My Descendants Caught up with my baby granddaughter Blake at the weekend, here she is with my kids Brad, her dad, and Lovely Lauren, who is four months preggers – so technically I have four progeny! Little Blake giggled properly for the first time this week – ahhhhh! And lovely Lauren keeps asking me questions about her pregnancy – it’s so nice to be involved. I only write about the baby on this blog and the one on my website, I don’t do tons of social media about them, so sign up for the newsletters (link top right). More soon. Didn’t really get enough time for cuddles this visit as my brother’s family all wanted a hold. Oh well, next time I hope! And Brad keeps me updated with lots of clips and pics. PS I do think we should have put glasses on the baby as a joke in this pic too though!

Pic of A gong time Had a yoga week this week – with two classes every day! Was so relaaaaaxed at the end of it! Jennie the local yoga lady has also trained to do ‘sound bath relaxation’ and OMG was it relaxing – with joss sticks, and resounding thronging gong chimes I drifted off to neverland. So.. ‘sleepwatch’ – as mentioned last week – I did get a full 8 hours twice this week. Can do better though… When Jennie does more of these for us later in the year, I must ask her to include this therapy again – it’s sooooooo good! Actually ‘tibetan bowls’ on youtube gives you an idea what it sounded like. There must be something scientific about the way it works on the body I’m sure – don’t you find?

Pic of Me and Linda in garden Mind you, nothing relaxed me more than getting a few rays this week in the back courtyard. It’s a bit of a sun trap for most of the first part of the day, so my lovely neighbour Linda and I had a cuppa and a chillax and I felt myself letting go of the tension in my body and closing my eyes – it was finally warm enough! Yay! Fingers crossed for more…

Book of the Week - I have found a new series! It’s set in Canada, nr Quebec, and the hero is an inspector who talks English with a Cambridge accent – very handy when it’s an audio book! It’s the first of 11, which is always handy – means you get used to the characters and don’t have to begin again each time. Book One, Still Life had lots of atmospheric descriptions of the lovely countryside, and some really good characterisation. Good narrator too, so I was glad to write about it on my Book review blog this week. Off to get Book two now! go here to read it on RiWiSi blog

Watch – The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society – it’s not in cinemas yet, but considering how much I love the war period and books, this had to make an early appearance – doesn’t it look great from the trailers ?! (I just searched the title on youtube to see it - we’re not allowed to link to outside sites now.) It seems intriguing, and has some amazing actors including Lily James and Penelope Wilton – always a sure bet. Can’t wait to see it in the cinema!

Next Week’s Highlights –
Monday – a lovely H by Halston satin trim t-shirt – looks nice! **
Tuesday – JPE Fitover sunglasses are here – showing it’s nearly summer – or at least some nice spring weather! Lol. This pair are a Vintage design though – nice!’
Wednesday – Tan Luxe are back – ditto about the sunshine! It’s a 3pc Essential Tanning Collection and great value as you add it in to other bodycreams! **
Thursday – Coco Bianco bring us a ring-detail short sleeve tunic – beginning to see a sunshine theme here? !
Friday – And on Friday a tasty Real Pie company 12pc best sellers and new spring pie collection – and even this has a 30 day money back guarantee! Lol.

** pics to come

Next week – lots of sightseeing and a trip to the beach – maybe even to famous Clovelly village with my fabulous mates Sara and Christina who are coming down to Devon for the week – can’t wait!

Have a lovely week!

Best wishes

Had an interesting experience this week, when I got a wake up call. Not literally - I was already awake. Well, almost - see below for more on THAT one! But I was delighted to attend the book launch of a lovely writing pal of mine - AJ Pearce. Her first novel - Dear Mrs Bird - has just launched and you may well read about her or hear her on the radio over the next few weeks.

Dear Mrs Bird is all about the friendships and danger during the Blitz when an aspiring war correspondent takes a job as a fake agony aunt in a woman's magazine publishers, and all sorts of mayhem ensues. Amidst the bombings and craters, loyalty and love win through. It's very funny, as is AJ and she thoroughly deserves all the success in the world.

It was my book of the week on RiWiSi here - and I'm delighted to say it'll be next week's as well! I'm about to listen to the audiobook version - click here to read a sample -  and I cannot wait!

Inspiration

So AJ has inspired me. So has lovely mentor, Julie Cohen, who was also there last night. Her book 'Together' - reivewed here - has just been announced as a Richard and Judy pick! And now having chatted to lots of other author pals of AJ's at the book launch last night, I'm all geared up to get cracking on my fifth novel - French or Dutch. It's in final stages now, and I'm heading towards finalising draft one. Wish me luck! It's been a packed three years or so since I first started it , however, and in that time there have been house moves, weddings, disastrous potential relationships (well I say plural, but really it's just one!) and a whole new life and business down in Devon, as well as being an ambassador for Medical Detection Dogs. Plus becoming a grandmother! whoohoo! All of which mean I only wrote prolifically when away on a ... writing retreat! lol. Last March I wrote 14,000 words in a single weekend (with Julie) in Bristol, and another twenty thousand when away in France in May. A few thousand in June when in Cyprus for a family wedding - it was more wedding stuff than writing, that one. But apart from that, I have found that running a writing retreat (see below) has not been conducive to... writing. So a kick up the proverbial was needed - and AJ's launch, and some sterling words from Julie, has done just that. I hand in version one next week, with more to follow. Watch this space...

Squiffy eye.

Meanwhile, my poor red eye was conjunctivitis. Blimey it's been a year of it, that's for sure! Not enough sleep, and over working, under relaxing - you know the usual. I got so tired recently I found myself able to close my eyes and just drift off to dreamland, mid afternoon! So enough is enough. I have booked a WellWoman 360 health check (basically every orifice plus bloods and all the usual health measurements) in June. The end of June. After my next summer hol, so by hook or by crook, I will be Freedom Eating and Bodyblading my way to a healthier place by then and I swear this year is going to be a well one...

Book of the Week - Let me Lie by Sunday Times bestseller Clare Macintosh. The ex-cop does it again, with another tense psychological thriller that will keep you guessing - go here to read my book of the week blog.

Just read a thrilling psychological drama from Clare Macintosh called ‘Let me Lie’ – this week my book blog reviews the latest tense novel from top author Clare – with a twist at the start as well as at the end! I really enjoyed this one, especially the relationship with the detective and his wife – you’ll see what I mean if you read it. It’s the number 1 Sunday Times bestseller and I’m not surprised why. Well done Clare.

The police say it was suicide. Anna says it was murder. They're both wrong.

One year ago, Caroline Johnson chose to end her life - a shocking suicide carefully played out to match that of her husband just months before. Their daughter, Anna, has struggled to come to terms with her parents' deaths ever since.

Now with a young baby herself, Anna feels her mother's presence keenly and is determined to find out what really happened. But as she looks for answers, someone is trying to stop her. By digging up the past, she'll set in motion something that can't be stopped and will soon discover that sometimes it's safer to let things lie....

The stunning, twisty new psychological thriller from number one best seller Clare Mackintosh, author of I Let You Go and I See You.

Highly reviewed too - I must say I enjoyed the earlier parts with a supernatural theme very much, and when that changed I was pleasantly surprised not to have guessed the reality.  Will you?

Funny pic isn't it! Well the sun finally started coming out this week in Devon, and very nice it was too! Daisy dog obviously thought so! I've been not very well lately with a bad cough so apologies for delay in getting you the newsletters. To make up for it, you're the first to see some beautiful new pics of my bubba Blake, grandbaby number one, who is now two months old. Gosh how time flies! She's so bootiful. Obvs I'd say that!

Been really busy at the retreat too - had a crazy week when Wendy and Linda my friends, neighbours and helpers were both away at the same time, looking after six people on my own!

Decided I must get more sleep - and to that end, I've been reading a fab new book - Why We Sleep, by Matthew Walker. Did you know you're more likely to get cancer or alzheimers or put on weight if you cross a vital threshold of too few hours of sleep. Do read my book of the week blog all about it. Also on that blog, if you'd love to read a free chapter of my own book, I mention the nice review on a romance blog which posts a sizeable chunk of one of my chapters, so you can get a flavour of my writing before you buy - and by the way the book, Take a Chance on Me, is on offer on Kobo this Easter weekend too. More about all that here.

Another topic that's been a hot one in our debates online of late is statins. I know there are a small proportion of people for whom they are good, but all I'd say is do go and please do some research, especially if you are told you 'might as well' take them, or if you started taking them and haven't felt great since, or if you think you might need them in the future. I'm not saying DON'T, I'm saying do more research. One such study worth reading for that purpose is being discussed on my Facebook page (don't worry you can read it if you're not on Facebook) - do look at some of the comments and see which you agree with. We all have to work out what's right for us individually, don't we. Go here to see the Facebook post debating statins - it's scary.

I made a big boo boo again this week with my culinary skills - the first one for ages, admittedly ... but it ended up with a creation akin to the Easter Island Stones... yes, another bread boo boo! Hope it doesn't happen when I'm on the designer kitchen this weekend!

Retreat for Three nights just after Easter Just a last minute shout for anyone wanting to come along to Retreats for You in Devon -

- Tuesday to Friday (3 nights £90pppn full board inc wine at dinner) rest and relaxation in front of a roaring fire, nice walks, doggy therapy if required (if they're not out sunbathing!) And great beds! Tuesday 2nd , lunchtime till lunchtime, leave Friday (self catering option over weekend possible)

- Yoga Week 9th -13th - two sessions of stretching a day for writers wanting to get loads done but not feel stiff at the end of the week! £395 special offer, usually £420 - email soon.

- last places left on the Photography Weekend on April 20-22 - dinner Friday till after lunch Sunday - trip out to Dartmoor for picturesque sights, workshop on getting the best pics, plus help with photoshopping - bring a partner and they can stay at home to write or relax whilst you go out clicking!

email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. - we deal with it all that way but do check out the events page on our website for more info about all the themed events coming up.

Am back on QVC Thursday pm, early evening, plus Good Friday, the off for Easter! Relatives coming down to stay - hope you have a nice time too and hopefully get some good sleep!

I'll leave you with a couple of pics of my son Bradley's bubba - and don't forget to read the QVC blog coming out Friday - click thi link after about 10am Friday.

Have a fab week!

Book of the Week. This was recommended to me by one of our lovely regulars, and my friend, Jill Dowding Walker. It is called ‘Why we Sleep’ because it's full of the new science of sleep and dreams by Matthew Walker and is fascinating. I have decided I need to ensure I get more sleep. The trouble is I get a second wind around 10 PM, I blame all of my late shifts. The other night I went to bed quite early but ended up doing ancestry.co.uk updates until around two! They say 'Told from alternating viewpoints, Debbie Flint's Take a Chance on Me is filled with funny banter between the two whip-smart main characters. This passionate and gripping story will have readers glued through the last page.' - how lovely!

They also feature a sizeable extract of a chapter from further in the book  - if you fancy a little sample of my writing!  Plus Choc Lit have told us that Kobo are going to have my book and others from my fellow authors, in an Easter special offer - just click here to find out more. Was £2.99, now 99p for Easter weekend!

This week's choice is Anatomy of a Scandal by Sarah Vaughan. About a woman who has to protect her family from the lies that might ruin them, and the barrister determined to make him pay. Gripping psychological drama – just the type I like, especially after I’ve been reading light hearted chic lit. And it says for fans of Apple Tree Yard and The Good Wife. I’d have been a barrister in another life so this appealed to me hugely. Really highly reviewed as well so that always gets my attention, on audible. I like that this one has several narrators too.

"You want to believe your husband. She wants to destroy him.

Gripping psychological drama for fans of Apple Tree Yard, The Good Wife and Notes on a Scandal.

Anatomy of a Scandal centres on a high-profile marriage that begins to unravel when the husband is accused of a terrible crime. Sophie is sure her husband, James, is innocent and desperately hopes to protect her precious family from the lies which might ruin them. Kate is the barrister who will prosecute the case - she is equally certain that James is guilty and determined he will pay for his crimes.

A high-profile marriage thrust into the spotlight. A wife, determined to keep her family safe, must face a prosecutor who believes justice has been a long time coming. A scandal that will rock Westminster. And the women caught at the heart of it."

Well I missed the worst of the snow last week - did you? But turns out I had a nasty surprise when I got back to Devon on Sunday night - a burst pipe! Eeek! Pics will be on my new QVC blog on Friday but suffice to say it was a lot of work and a collapsed ceiling. Boo. Not as bad as some though so I won't moan. Here's a pic of the lovely snowy scene outside in the square, sent to me by Mary my mate.

In London all was well, basically. I went along to see my lovely son Brad who was 31 last week (no idea how that happened! Where have the years gone!) And have some cuddles with cute little Blake, who is now 6 weeks.

Looking forward to Mother's Day on Sunday as it'll be my first 'grandmother's day' too! And Brad's birthday meal. Yay! Plus I'll get to see Lauren - who is... wait for it ... having a baby in September! Yahoooo! Two grandkiddies by Christmas - aren't I the lucky one!

The other thing I've been discussing this week is Four in a Bed, the Ch 4 series about bed and breakfasts. I was asked to do it but I can't due to my QVC commitments, but it would have been fun! I'd have done it with Sheena, my mate down here in Devon with whom I go on adventures, but never mind. Instead we went to a painting class this week - the first in yonks. 41 yonks in fact! Eeek! It's amazing how everyone's pics differed - here we all are down at the Cranford Inn near Torrington. Not bad for a first effort, but hopefully the next one next month will be better!

Book of the week is actually a couple this week! Well done to my mentor Julie Cohen for winning the best Contemporary Romantic Novel with 'Together' - a truly thought provoking read. Plus Jane Lovering - another one of my top authors - won one of her categories - she had two nominations, and they're both on my book of the week review! If you like recommendations that win awards, try these books. Go here to read my RiWiSi review blog.

RNA Magazine Mention. Retreats for You got a mention too from the RNA in their latest Romance Matters magazine, with a feature on my taking over the retreat and trying to do my own writing here! Thanks to Adrienne Vaughan for the feature. I'll be running a competition later in the year to win a free stay, so do watch out for it. PLUS the latest newsletter for RFY has just gone out - go to the blog post to read it all and find out about the latest retreat offers! Including one place left for the April 9th Yoga week and a tasty cauliflower dish from Wendy's kitchen! click here

Finally, do check on my Facebook page for regular updates and special offers from QVC and Retreats for You - or just email us for more info - This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.  - maybe we'll have a painting weekend at some stage! We've already got a photography weekend coming up at end April!

Watch out on my new QVC blog coming out Friday for sneaky peeks and lots of nice catch ups. Meanwhile, am on Thursday night (tonight) with Amanda Holden and her lovely Today's Special Value trunks set - the ones that featured on Craigy's wind up show that was on Saturday Night Takeaway with Ant and Dec last weekend!

go here to get them now.

Have a fab week!

Another top story from one of my fave witty romcom authors, Jane Lovering. Jane is fresh back from this week's RONA awards (Romantic Novelists' Association Dinner was on Monday.) There, she won 'shorter romantic novel' category award with 'Christmas at the Little Village School,' so I'm pleased to include that one too as a second Book of the Week! Go here for more info and congrats to Jane!

Also to Julie Cohen for best Contemporary Novel award! See previously for the review of her fab novel Together, and do get it if you want a truly thought-provoking read.

However since Jane's Little Teashop of Horrors, also a second nomination for her in the Romantic Comedy category, is the one I've just downloaded on audiobook, it's this week's main choice.

Amy Knowles has always been the plain sidekick to her pretty best friend, Jules. And whilst the tearoom they both work in on the Monkpark Hall estate in Yorkshire is not exactly awash with eligible bachelors, it's obvious where the male attention is concentrated.

There is one man who notices Amy. Joshua Wilson also works at Monkpark, where he flies his birds of prey for visitor entertainment. He lives a lonely existence, but he has reasons for choosing isolation - and in Amy he may have found somebody who understands.

Then a management change brings slick and well-spoken Edmund Evershott to Monkpark. He's interested in Amy too, but for what reason? Josh suspects the new manager is up to no good - but will Amy?

I always enjoy Jane's books. I've read almost all of her previous novels which have been released on audiobook. I find her turn of phrase refreshing and original, witty and fun, just what I need for some of my long car journeys and her stories are compelling and moreish. So I would never hesitate to get the next one... and the next... and the next...

Click the link above to get it on Amazon and do leave a review for Choc Lit author Jane Lovering as it means a lot!

Well it's Four in a Bed - but sadly I can't do it because of my QVC Commitments. But maybe my Inspirational Woman, Marlene Watson Tara, could do it instead of me! She'll hopefully be having some visits to Retreats for You at some point, maybe to do some macrobiotic workshops? That'd be nice! Let me know if you're interested!
