The Future’s Orange! Plus 7 days of sneaky QVC peeks

Oh my gosh I think this might be one of my favourite theatre productions. Not quite as good as, but almost on a par with, Mrs Doubtfire.  Accidentally ended up wearing the same jacket as my friend Andie, (SHE of 21 Denim & Co jackets fame, item 177300). My fault because I told her I’d be in yellow… Then we find QVC fashionista Patrick Hoy also arriving in vibrant orange! We decided next time we all go, we will make it deliberate. :-)) Lorna Ko and Beverly Cressman, QVC guests also came as well as Patrick: Back to The Future at the Adelphi Theatre in London.

One of my family’s childhood and teenage favourites was the ‘Back to the Future’ trilogy. We loved it and watched it over and again. So I’ve been meaning to see this at the theatre for a long time. The guy playing Marty, is absolutely fabulous! The Doc is a genius. The cast is superb, I think. They didn’t put a foot wrong. The only thing is that Biff the bully isn’t quite as big as you’d expect but he also played it brilliantly.

I loved the film, about accidentally going back 30 years in a time machine, meeting your parents and trying to avoid changing history, whilst re-creating the future.

And the theatre production is very true to the film. But the effects, oh my goodness, the effects! The songs are pretty good on the whole, and the 1950s ones are outstanding. Just loved it all. So much so, I’m going to go and see it again with my son Brad hopefully at some stage. My birthday is coming up at the end of next week, and I will be out with him to celebrate, at some stage in May so let’s see what we can do :-). Highly recommended!

We had a lovely meal afterwards and then I had a catch up with Lorna in a hotel bar near Charing Cross station. She really is a lovely friend. Check out the exclusive on my newsletter this week that went out by email – for the most unusual drink being served in the bar where Lorna and I were! (And see below about how to sign up so you get the newsletters as well). We hope to do it again – maybe to see Moulin Rouge – in the summer sometime! So nice to have a social every now and then 🙂

Training in Devon

Had a quick whiz down to Devon midweek, helping to do some training for my local Association. Always lovely to see my friends and colleagues down there. I did a lunch for them for a change and had a really good chat with some friends. Since I took over as Chair suddenly on the 20th, it’s been a bit hectic!

The other thing that’s been taking my brain power over the last two years, as regulars will know, is being a director at my block of flats in Surrey. Well the new property managing agents have taken over and they are turning up all sorts of things, getting lots of quotes, and assimilating reports. And far exceeding my expectations. Well done Veena and Wildheart! On a walk round this week I took these photos, how adorable and beautiful are the blooms in Banstead! Spring is finally on the way 🙂

Blooper – Klutzy Kabler strikes again! Lolol!! (See it here).

PodcastGo here to get the latest Inside QVC podcast from Will, and the current one if you haven’t listened yet :-). Don’t forget there’s a massive back list to catch up on, too!

Watch – BBC’s ‘The Responder’. Martin Freeman is back, I really enjoyed series one! I’m going to dip into series 2.

Vlog – when I go away to France early June for my writing holiday, it’s the first time in many years I’ve needed a new passport! Look what happened when I went out seeking a replacement! (See it here).

Book of the Week – ‘Dead Man Running’ by Michael Dylan.

A missing witness. A dangerous killer. A cop with nothing to lose.
“The trial of notorious gangland boss, Elrit Selmani, is about to start but the star witness has gone missing…” Another book from this series featuring Detective Simon Wise. Really looking forward to starting this one. I just about finished the Marian Keyes, so this will be just the ticket!
