She's done it again! One of my most prolific writing mates, Alison May, has just released the latest in her line of Christmas romances and it's another belter! 'Christmas Kisses' (here on Amazon) is an amalgamation of her fabulous series focussing on Holly, Cora and Jessica's adventures, under one title, in ebook and paperback now too.

Holly hates Christmas with a passion and can't wait to escape it - but then the flight to her once-in-a-lifetime holiday destination is cancelled.

Cora has had the year from hell, and faces a bleak Christmas working in Golding's department store - in the most unflattering reindeer costume imaginable.

Jessica is in denial after her husband's betrayal, and can't help but think back to when her life still seemed so full of hope and promise.

Three years from hell, three sets of broken dreams, three girls in desperate need of Christmas spirit.

Is the perfect Christmas kiss all it takes?

Am proud for Alison that Cora's Christmas Kiss was a finalist for the Romantic Novelist's Association ROSE Award so do give it a go, especially if, considering it's now only 7 weeks away - eek!

One reviewer on Amazon says -

"I have read these 3 stories separately so to have them altogether in one place is brilliant and makes you feel Christmassy already. Alison May is one of Choc Lit's excellent authors so all her stories are worth reading - enjoy!"

and

"Each story will get you in the festive spirit I can guarantee it, so get in the loft, grab your tree and decorate it."

Well done Alison! Cracking book and a great gift idea too, don't you think?

Loved the look of this fellow Choc Lit author's yuletide offering this week - see below for more about talented Alison May's festive tale.

But first, in the week that I spotted my book for the first time in a proper bookstore, news about my steamy romance has reached Australia! Blogger Renee has done this fabulous review- plus she's written a quick reminder of what the book is all about. To get yours, order paperback via your local bookstore or find it now at number 79 in WHSmithTravel outlets (main rail stations, airports) or online here via my publisher ChocLit.

Choc Lit

You know what they say about mixing business with pleasure …
When the breakdown of her marriage leaves Sadie Turner a single mum, she vows that she will make it on her own. After all, why would a smart businesswoman with a PhD and the prospect of a life-changing deal on the horizon need a man?

But Sadie’s man-ban is tested to the limit when she travels to Monaco to meet her potential investor. There she encounters Mac, a rough and ready playboy billionaire who lives life in the fast lane – and that’s when the real adventure starts!

But Sadie’s heart isn’t the only thing on the line. There’s also the business she’s worked so hard to make a success; the business that could so easily slip out of her grasp if she doesn’t seal the deal within thirty days …

Published under Hot Choc Lit - slightly raised heat level but not erotica!
Previously self-published as Hawaiian Affair. Revised and edited by Choc Lit March 2015.

Renee's review Told in alternating POV between Sadie and Mac, this novel combines a raunchy romance with a great plot. I loved the build up of tension, waiting for all the little lies to blow up into a drama. I found Sadie to be likable and relatable. Mac had more depth than the typical playboy billionaire and I liked him more than I had expected to. I often find "billionaire romance" novels over the top and unbelievable, but this one was much more realistic.

This is book two in the Hawaiian Trilogy, but can be read as a stand alone.  Read more about Renee here on her blogspot.

Available via all good bookshops, WHMithTravel #79 in chart, or get Take a Chance on Me on Amazon here.

Book launch What's even more exciting is that my publisher wants to do a proper book launch and we are just working out where. Most likely is local to me in Dorking. But our lovely guest Lorna Ko who is a reporter on Chiswick Buzz a local online video magazine show covering events near QVC, wants to do an interview soon with me - come back next week for more! She usually books a venue like a bookshop for such things and it looks like the Chiswick Bookshop family team are open to my having it there in January - if you'd like to be on the guest list just email me This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. Do go in and ask manager Emily for one of the signed copies, it's in Turnham green Terrace, about five mins walk from Turnham Green station. I also got some super wrapping paper that can be framed - it looks like some old school bookshelves full of eg 1930s girls books, or classics etc. Fab gifts they do in the store too!

And next...? I am cracking on with the follow up now. It's funny, having written the prequel Hawaiian escape, the sequel Hawaiian retreat, to the original version of Take a Chance on Me, (which was originally called Hawaiian Affair.) because Choc Lit have suggested that I do a revamp with a different ending! If you have read all about Sadie's sister, Helen, already, you may be intrigued to read the alternative… more soon!

Book of the Week - it's been a bit heavy, with my thrillers and self-help books in this slot. So this week I thought I would do something little bit different, with a recommendation for book of the week from one of my fellow Choc Lit authors. It's Jessica's Christmas Kiss  by the talented Alison May.

Real Christmas miracles only ever happen in the movies – don’t they?
When Jessica was fifteen, she shared the perfect kiss with a mystery boy at a Christmas party. It might have only lasted a moment, and the boy might have disappeared shortly afterwards but, to Jessica, it was just a little bit magic.
Fourteen years later, and Jessica is faced with a less than magical Christmas after uncovering her husband’s secret affair. And, whilst she wouldn’t admit it, she sometimes finds herself thinking about that perfect Christmas kiss, back when her life still seemed full of hope and possibility

I love the premise of this story and look forward to reading it. She's a very accomplished writer and writing tutor so it promises to be excellent!

Go here to get it on amazon.

And here is Alison's own blog - sign up for her newsletters and do catch her back list - some super titles!

another Book of the Week for you from the Choc Lit stable and fellow author, the talented and very funny Alison May brings us an updated spin on the classic from Shakespeare. Now I don't know about you but I did plenty of am dram when at school. And my 'breakthrough' performance (ahem!) was aged 17 as Beatrice the lead in Much Ado About Nothing. So I was very pleased to see her next adaptation was another one dear to my heart!

Would you risk everything for love?

Independent, straight-talking Trix Allen wouldn’t. She’s been in love once before and ended up with nothing. Now safely single, Trix is as far away from the saccharine-sweet world of hearts and flowers as it’s possible to be.

Ben Messina is the man who broke Trix’s heart. Now he’s successful the only thing rational Ben and free-spirited Trix see eye-to-eye on is the fact that falling in love isn’t part of the plan. But when Ben’s brother sets out to win the heart of Trix’s best friend, romance is very much in the air. Will Trix gamble everything on love and risk ending up with zero once again?

Sweet Nothing (click here to get it on amazon) is a fresh and funny retelling of Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing, set in the present day.

Well how proud am I to be mentioning a rising star amongst my writing colleagues? Fellow author and fun lady Mandy Baggot has released a brilliant beach read. 'Truly Madly Greekly' is one of the best titles I've seen, and it's a fab book - well deserves to be riding high in the Amazon Kindle UK charts as we speak! Well, as we write...

1.    Your new book is doing really well how did you think of the title?

Ha ha! The title is all my own work, however, the book did have quite a boring original title and my lovely agent, Kate Nash, suggested it needed sparkling up a bit. She came up with a good one with ‘Greek’ in the title, but it wasn’t quite hitting the spot with me. Then a flash of inspiration hit when I was looking at the title of the Romantic Novelists’ Association anthology I have a story in (Truly Madly Deeply). Change Deeply to Greekly and there we have it! People do like it!

2.    Tell us about the hero and heroine.

My heroine is Ellen Brooks. She’s a 30 year old accountant who had the perfect life. She had plans for her own accountancy practice, an attractive, successful boyfriend, power shoes and designer suits - everything a modern woman could need. Then the boyfriend proposed and everything fell apart.

Yan is the hero and he’s a Bulgarian animator at the Hotel Blue Vue. He’s late twenties with a body to die for and a good heart. He’s sexy, funny and sweet – the perfect package in one hot ripped-abs exterior. He’s hard-working, loyal and he’s not looking for love because he’s too busy hiding a big secret.

3.    Where is it set?

Truly Madly Greekly is set in Agios Spyridon, a small village in the north of Greek island, Corfu. I’ve been visiting this area of Corfu since 2003 and in the past couple of years, twice a year. I adore everything about the island – the beaches, the landscape, the perfect weather, the wonderful warm welcome from the Greek people. We always stay at the Mareblue Beach Hotel and there is no doubt, my visits to the hotel inspired the hotel featured in the book.

4.    What section did you enjoy writing most?

I adore writing dialogue so I love all the scenes with sisters Lacey and Ellen. They’re fast-paced and fun. I also love the delicate love scenes with Yan and Ellen. It was also so nice to be able to describe to the readers this picture postcard island I love visiting so much.

Amazon June 18th

5.    And are there any other characters that popped up while you were writing that surprised you but pleased you?

I didn’t have any surprise characters pop up out of nowhere for this book. I did make a little more of the cross-dressing secondary character, Dasha than originally intended. He’s a whole lot of fun and dropping someone completely over-the-top into a novel always makes the comedy flow!

6.    What's the nicest thing anyone said about the book?

That is a real tough one because since Truly Madly Greekly came out I’ve had so many messages, tweets, emails from people telling me how much they enjoyed the book. I guess the best ones are where readers have been looking for a tonic, an escape from everyday life and they tell me my book has cheered them up, was just what they needed, made them remember their holiday/enjoy their holiday even more. I like to think I write feel-good fiction so if I’ve made someone feel good when they come to the end of one of my books then I’m very happy!

7.    For writers out there who want to be inspired that you've got so high in the UK kindle charts, what marketing strategy did you or your publisher use?

*Laughs* I have no idea! I have a feeling the team at Bookouture have an underground bunker with lots of technical things going on in the background. I’m sure it’s very secret and if I told you anything else I might self-destruct.

I do know that, for this book in particular, I managed to get a lot of support from Facebook groups full of people who love Corfu. They want to read about the place they holiday in every year and they want a fellow Corfu lover to do well. I’ve had lots of sharing that way. I’ve also had a lot of support from various travel agencies and tour operators.

Other than the above, I’ve just been tweeting and getting the word out of Facebook as much as I can, hoping not to bore the pants off everyone!

8.    And what is your writing process?

It’s very dull! And completely uncomplicated and probably not at all professional! I have an idea for a story, I start writing it, I write a blurb, I write some more, I finish it, that’s it! I’m not a planner at all. I’d be bored if I knew the outcome of the book before I started putting fingers to keyboard.

9.    How many revisions do you do? Have you got a particular routine or trick for getting a book done?

I tend to write the story, go back through it tweaking things, then pass it to my agent and editor. Then they tell me what’s wrong with it and I revise it. That could be it if I’ve done a good job, if not there might be one more round of ass-kicking and then it’s done. I’ve been told I write quite a clean manuscript so I’m lucky!

10. What's in the pipeline?

I’m just editing my next book for Bookouture which will be out in the autumn. It’s a romance set in wintery New York featuring a single mum and a billionaire who’s dying. It sounds like a weepy but it’s a romantic comedy that will hopefully make people feel all warm and Christmassy!

Thanks Mandy!!

Went to the Romantic Novelists’ Awards Event – RoNAs

My first industry event as a published signed author was Monday night – felt very different, I must say! This is the grand library at One Whitehall Place – can you just about see none other than Barbara Taylor Bradford in the background?! It was a great night, had some lovely chats, including with two of the beta readers, Vanessa and Mary – Vanessa told me she loved Liz Earle. And – can’t get away from it – one of the lovely category WINNERS was Lucy Dillon herself, who told me she leaves QVC on at home for her Bassett Hounds to watch! Lol!

Fab night and loved being part of it. Who knows, maybe one day one of mine will be nominated! Julie Cohen’s was, here she is with me, another author Jean Fullerton (who writes the ‘Call Nurse Millie’ sagas) and Alison May, also with Choc Lit.

Barbara Taylor Bradford presented the awards, which was a huge honour for all concerned since most cited 'A Woman of Substance' as one of their key influences, and she was both funny and delightful, telling everyone, Brucie style, that the star shaped award was because 'you are a star,' and saying at one point in her own inimitable way that 'writing can be hard, but when it goes perfectly right, it's like having a good orgasm. She's 81!

Book of the Week – A Hundred Pieces of Me

So naturally my Book of the Week is one of the winners. Lucy Dillon’s lovely story takes her through the memories associated with the trinkets she is clearing out to make space in her house – with unexpected consequences. The judges loved it and she won the hotly contested Contemporary Romantic Novel category. Already highly reviewed, you can get it here on Amazon, where you'll see it has 4.3 out of 5 average over 106 reviews!

Go to bottom of page to find out more about it and the other winners on the Romantic Novelists Association site – in case you want to add some new authors to your collection! I've already downloaded 'THe Girl Who Came Home' by Hazel Gaynor, with 86 five star reviews, about a young Irish woman on the Titanic, a seamless blend of fact and fiction. My next book on audible, along with Lucy's! Yay!
