Book of the Week - Us by David Nicholls; PLUS what a lovely thing to read! Compass bookshops email
13 November 2015

‘Us,’ David Nicholls Now to a true best-selling author and the follow up to the international smash hit and book club favourite One Day. This one is a bit more dry, took me longer to get into and definitely had a couple of moments where I thought 'really? is this it?' but the audiobook narration was partly to blame so I persevered. Soon David Nicholls' trademark irony and wit began to pepper itself over this sorry tale of a marriage going wrong and it began to amuse me a bit more! Phew! I'm wading my way through it and whilst it's been nominated for a Man Booker prize, it's nowhere near one of my faves of his. Give it a go though if you want!

Galbraith Update Now last week's book of the week on the other hand, was sublime! I finished it having spent many hours in my flipping car! Not able to

leave till i heard the next bit. Just genius. Can;t wait for the next one and will probably go back and listen to The Silkworm all over again.

MY BOOK NEWS Finally here’s some news about my book which will be available via some bookshops - my publisher Choc Lit told me that my first paperback with them, Take a Chance on Me – a steamy romance! – was picked out for a special mention in the Compass bookseller’s newsletter this week – I was very proud. By the end of next week there may even be a few in some WHSmithTravel outlets! Squeee! This is the cover to look out for –

And this is what Compass said – Top 50 Kindle Bestseller summer 2015.

The clocks have gone
back, the nights are drawing in – so many readers are ready to settle down with
a cup of hot chocolate and a good book. They could do a lot worse than to choose
a title from Hot Choc Litwhich has slightly raised heat levels from the usual
Choc-Lit books – this is romance that sizzles! The first title for this imprint
is Take a Chance on Me by Debbie Flint who is a super-popular presenter on QVC –
so will be well known to the 12 million women in the UK who regularly tune in!
As you know, Choc-Lit always road-test their book with the online reading
community before they are published, and Take a Chance on Me has had
particularly good reviews, with bloggers writing “There are some particularly
steamy scenes in Take A Chance on Me but they are exceptionally well written”
and “This is fast paced, suspenseful … new and fresh with a magnificent ending.
A marvellous heartfelt novel” and “Loved this book! Quick witted and full of
funny banter ... five stars, an awesome read.” Take a Chance on Me (snappy
title, zappy cover) (978 1781892671, pb, £7.99) is published in December by Hot
Choc Lit

Am v proud! Also – update on bookshops – apparently ordinary WHSmith's will be able to order it in for you earlier - after 7th December, not ‘after Xmas’ – so if you go into their stores, you can ask! #countingTheDays!

Have a lovely week.

Best wishes
