Patrick’s visit; fab family & friends; plus sneaky peeks

me and Patrick

Had another one of those weeks! Saturday was super because Patrick came to visit. He loved my place and we had a delicious lunch in Banstead. Went for a little walk, chatted to my nieces including Lara & Izzy who were over from Sweden for the weekend, and Becky, my sister Linda’s daughter. Patrick knows Linda from when my sister used to be a QVC nail product guest quite a few years ago. Lin is away but Patrick had a delighted chat with Beck. Then he and I had a really good catch-up on the journey back to QVC that evening. He’s also said he will come to medical detection dogs when I visit next month, with the auction prize winners from the November tea, for a quick tour – and then lunch on me! I love it when my two worlds collide!

The next day it was another get-together, this time with my niece Chloe, who was over from Greenwich to visit. Lovely to see her and the others.

Mum loves seeing her grandchildren, especially when Bek & her sis Stephanie turned up with Maggie the dog as well! They all said they are looking forward to next Sunday when my Lollipop arrives for the weekend with little baby Jasper, for a belated first birthday get together. Can’t wait!

SNIPPETS

Happy First Birthday Jasper

Bless his little heart, one already! Lauren sent me some lovely videos of him opening my presents. Included some little shoes, bath letters, board books, clothes and a Tonies box with figurines that play stories when you put them on top of it. Can’t wait to see them when they come down this weekend!

Met QVC Customers Filming…

… for some more videos for our 30th birthday year at QVC! Lovely viewers Barbara and Andrea saw me in the corridor and we took a quick picture. They and a few others had been doing the whole ‘balloons, confetti and record a chat’ thing, talking about watching QVC for so long and what they loved. They wanted to say hello so I thought it would be rude not to, and then they didn’t mind when I asked them for a photo too! Looking forward to seeing the footage on air.

EVs on their Way!

Regulars will know the saga of electric vehicle charge points at my flats. Well this week they finally got underway! Considering it will be about six weeks till I get my new plug-in hybrid, I hope, fingers crossed it all goes smoothly. Thanks to Zest Eco, for helping make the chargepoints happen. A job well handled, that project, and as a director helping to make things happen, I’m very proud!

Watch – theatre – my friend Gill & I went for a smashing supper in Bella Italia in Charing Cross Road, followed by ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’. Powerful as ever. When I saw it last year with my son Brad, Gill said to me ‘oh my goodness I’d love to see that, it’s my favourite book ever’. So we went! It finishes at the end of April so if you can see it before then, do try. Very cleverly done and some brilliant performances.

me and GIl

TV-wise, I’m finally wading my way through ‘Traitors US’ on iplayer, and liking it very much. The Pamela Anderson autobiographical retrospective series on Netflix is good as well.  But what next? – well, I was given a recommendation of ‘Treason’, by my mate Gill. Or ‘Designated Survivor’ (with Kiefer Sutherland as the only person left in the US government) by mum and her partner. And also the two series leading up to ‘Yellowstone’, called 1883, and 1923 – the latter starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren no less! I think I know what I’ll be watching soon! If you have seen them let me know what you think!

Funny inc bloopers!

Here’s one for you this week to make you smile, lovely Will Gowing reflecting on 10 years with Ali Young, with some outtakes! They don’t make them like this anymore! LOL (See it here.)

Podcast

Talking of Will, go here to get the latest Inside QVC podcast from Will, and the current one if you haven’t listened yet :-). Don’t forget there’s a massive back list to catch up on, too!

This week it’s the turn of jewelry designer Lisa Mason who talks about being an Emmy award-winning news anchor, writer and producer and a presenter for QVC in America. She brings us her Diamonique collection! Looking forward to seeing it.

Vlog – part of my lovely trip in London this week, beautiful beautiful day and I went swimming for the first time in ages at the gym across the road from QVC before going to the theatre with my friend Gill!

Go here to watch the video on my Facebook page and don’t forget to follow me to see them all!

Book of the Week

Well it’s time for another Elly Griffiths, but this time back to the Ruth Galloway series. Book 15? ‘The Last Remains’ has the forensic archaeologist helping out on another case of a girl who disappeared 20 years ago, when a skeleton is found bricked up in a basement. There’s a few hints about Nelson starting a new career in charge of a cold case department in Blackpool, but will Ruth go with him? We will have to wait and see!

Went on a lovely catch up lunch with my friend Litty this week as well. She is my writing friend who is now really rather good at scripts. We blocked through some of the things going on with my French Or Dutch book, and I think I realised what the problem is. If you get the newsletter, I have written more there. This week I posted on the WhatsApp group for our flats about Oreo the cat, regulars with a long memory will recall white and black Oreo, who is currently looking for a new home, since my brother Glenn emigrated and his current tenants in his old house are moving home! If you know anyone who is not too far away from us in Surrey, who would love to look after him permanently, let me know :-). If I haven’t already found a home that is!
