Mining for Memories in Wales

Yes, it was off to Wales this week to see my girl and her family, always a pleasure! We went off to lunch with just the grown-ups because the kids were at school, and had a nice catch up.

Plus I got together with Lauren for her belated birthday presents and Phoebe for some little early ones.

Howard and I and the Pitt family played lots of nice games and Phoebe showed us her monkey bars techniques, and Jasper was very pleased with some biggles books handed down from my mum’s partner David S!

The other reason for the trip was partly to commemorate 50 years since Howard and I dated in 1976, regulars will know the story of how we got together again but if you don’t, we were at school together and reconnected via our Facebook and the middle school group mini reunions last year. It was amazing to see the flag we found on the beach when we went for a walk – look what it says!

So many coincidences like this!

H and I also had a fascinating tour at a National Trust property, around an old Victorian and Roman goldmine, proper underground stuff!

And we crowned it all with a lovely meal out on the night when we decided to celebrate specifically, at a place called the stubborn duckling in Aberaeron. Lovely! I think we scrubbed up nicely!

We checked out of the “artists retreat“ in Newcastle Emlyn, Airbnb, me having left a little bit of artwork for them in their guest book!

Can’t believe we are off to Cyprus on Sunday for a week! It’s nearly here. Had Lots of time with H in September, but there won’t be very much in Oct (both busy) so I’ll have to make the most of it!

SNIPPETS

Xmas trees at work

Well, the Christmas tree sets went up this week! Have you seen them yet? This is one of the ladies in charge of getting them all ready, well done Liv!! I can’t believe it’s that time of year again. But then QVC does have Christmas trees on view for about a quarter of every year! Yay! Look out for the new Xmas promos that everyone got to shoot as well. I missed a slot because of being away. But they look lovely with all the other presenters and guests, and lots of fun. And have you noticed there are lots of Christmas things already on the wider internet? Maybe because I said the word Xmas into my phone, when writing this blog, Facebook is now showing me lots of ads and Christmassy things due to its algorithms! LOL

Here is one of the new QVC promos. Merry Christmas everyone! See it here.

KitchenAid mixer

And by the way, don’t forget we are currently offering a good deal on a KitchenAid artisan mixer! Watch this fabulous video from our behind-the-scenes team, there’s more where that came from on QVC, including recipes with some of the guests(!) See it here.

Doris’s memory lane

How great is this, lots of nostalgia this week so I thought I would show you this one of Doris Dalton of Doll 10 make-up. She posted it in response to the trend saying what your most proud of, well done Doris! I’m obviously most proud of my children. But I would say I’m very proud of doing it mostly as a single mum from their ages of 11 and 14. And having not gone crazy in the process… !!

Proud of the businesses that I have set up and managed – sometimes really successfully. Of the books that I’ve managed to write. Of the charity I’ve supported. Of the events-organiser activities I’ve held. And of all the family stuff I’ve managed to maintain. Being single for 17 out of the last 20 years helped! LOL.

Laura’s gang

Really enjoyed having Laura on the show last weekend – it was a rip-roaring success! So good to have seen her again. Hoping to go out to New York next year, finally (I’ve never been.) And meet up again! She is so inspirational, if you’re in doubt, watch this. See it here.

Poignant Reminder

My mate and fellow presenter Craigy had his birthday this week, so, happy belated birthday Craig! (And to my very long-term friend Andy Hollins who lives in LA!).

Craig posted a poignant video mentioning his poorly friend who was in terminal care and it just reminds us, as he said, to make the best of life. For sure.

So did this – whatever we look like, we should be grateful we are not worse off. Admirable dancer!! See it here.

Exclusive – on this week’s newsletter (sign up to get yours in the inbox every weekend), the exclusive content is H, the ducks and Feeb!

Watch – The Capture

We have started on series one that happened in 2019. There has been a series 2 which I also watched, and we are now re-watching it. But I haven’t seen series 3 that came out this year. Kept us engrossed when we were enjoying some wind-down time in Wales. All about early days of AI – before, long before, the AI we take for granted now (where people often see something Online and say “it must be AI“.) Really worth watching! Crime series about CCTV not being reliable. It stars Holiday Granger, who plays Robyn in Cormoran Strike.

Blooper – all the what???!!! 🤣 See it here.

Vlog – lovely walk. See it here.

Book of the Week – Lolly’s recommendations

My daughter knows how much I love stories and she said ‘Mum, you’ve got to read these although they are a bit racy’ LOL! So I’ve put them on my list! (I am still reading the Brinley Knight WW2 spy series, on book 2!)
