Had a lovely catch up with my good mate Ali Keenan last weekend when we both went along to an anniversary party (more below). She’s very well and hopefully I will see her at the beginning of September. Then it was off to my break in Somerset!
Amchara Break
Just loved it, back at my health retreat again, my happy place – what can I say. Regulars will remember that I went to Amchara, the juice fast and yoga retreat, for three weeks last year and lost a stone. Got really healthy and had a complete reset of my body and mind. Well I went back for five days this week. Did swimming every single day again, even on the day it was drizzly. Didn’t matter to me, I love it! We also had a lady come and do singing bowls, a healing sound bath which was fabulous.
I wrote more of my book, and enjoyed the wonderful grounds, did Bodyblade every single day again, got back into good habits, and loved every minute. I was in a beautiful room, more of a suite. It’s like they even knew I was coming!
It was overlooking the garden, where the Yoga lady took everyone out to the lawn one evening (look closely at the pic!) It was so idyllic.
I must admit I could probably have done another five days. Perhaps I’ll book myself in for 10 days next summer! Highly recommended. Kaleb Time
Had my grandson for three hours on my own for the first time on Saturday and played some lovely games with him, he is such a little Blondie and so much like his dad was at that age although not so naughty! Can’t wait for them to come down to my place on the 19th for a week in Devon!

Some of the people at QVC were there when I first joined, including lovely chairs in sound, and his wife Sharon, who had their anniversary party this week and that’s where I caught up with Ali Keenan. So nice to have a really good talk and the music wasn’t too loud. Seeing them both so happy made it all worthwhile and there were some other QVC faces there as well who it was nice to see. How pleasant to go ‘out out’ once every so often! Perhaps I should do it more…
Watch – haven’t watched any of my catch up programs. Instead it’s been a health theme. So maybe watch this, it’s a really good explanation as to what sugar does with your red blood cells and how they can’t get round the body well enough. Interesting. It also mentions collagen too, and the mechanism as to why eating sugar makes you look older basically. There’s lots like this on YouTube so do have a look! (See it here).
I have also been researching Mary Stopes and there’s a really good documentary about her methods of contraception back in the 1920s on YouTube but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea so I won’t give you a link to that! If you’re interested just google it. Read some fascinating biographies about her this week too, while I was doing my prep for writing my book. Really enjoying reading about that era. I swear I was alive in the 1920s 🙂
Funny – considering dairy disagrees with me and I spent all week having really healthy food and listening to people say what they missed the most (cheese!), this funny shop sign made me giggle.

Book of the Week – Rowan Coleman’s ‘From Now Until Forever’
Have been really looking forward to this one and I wasn’t disappointed. If you loved her ‘The Summer of Impossible Things’, I think you will like this one as well. Finding the love of your life but knowing you will see them die takes on an extra dimension for Vita, a lady who has been around a long time. But how can Ben change things. And maybe avoid his fate? And create a new one for her? I don’t wanna give too much away but it’s well worth reading and a brilliant beach read. Well done Rowan! More please.
