Going Out Out  – a Lot! & a Guy’s Appt

This week I went ‘out out’, a lot! Tuesday I had a couple of appointments, including one up London, and when getting off the train at London Bridge, in bright sunshine, I took this picture by the Shard. This time I wasn’t going for a get-together with a mate at the top, I was off to my annual EPP checkup at Guy’s Hospital nearby.

Every year they take blood tests and make sure things are how they should be inside my blood and liver, and do a fibro scan (where they have a little machine that sends out tiny thumps against my rib cage and basically tells them if my liver is in a good condition because of how the sound waves bounce back through it.) This year, even more so than previously, the results were pretty good! Which I’m well pleased about. No sign of fatty liver. It would’ve needed to have been over 250 for that to be the case, and mine was 223. The girl said it was all good! My erythropoietic protoporphyria (EPP), caused by my body not making the enzyme ferrochelatase, means there is a buildup of porphyrins inside my capillaries. My measurement is for instance 19,000, whereas everyone else who is normal, would only have a measurement of 200. So they have to keep an eye on it, especially its effect on the liver. So everything is good.

Afterwards I even made it across London in time to go to the theatre after a quick bite to eat, see ‘watch’ below!

Out Out by Coach

The next night, Wednesday I actually went on a coach up London for the first time in absolutely ages. It was for dinner at the Carlton Club where there was a very good speaker called Gillian Keegan talking about education. Very enlightening and enjoyable. The food was utterly delicious but not very plentiful! I’m glad the event I chose for the dinner I’m organising in London on the 7th of November, serves much larger portions! I had some nice chats with some interesting people, and it made a change to go to a posh event like that. However, the worst thing was the coach driver who took us through some of the worst traffic imaginable! Putney High Street, and then up past Harrods believe it or not towards Hyde Park Corner, where it was static much of the way. The people who got on the coach at the stop before me were on the coach for two hours! Anyway, I’m glad I made the effort, usually I’m quite reluctant to do things like that but I’ve been talking to the organiser David Collins about running events and he persuaded me. I’ve got several coming up myself during November, which is a little bit stressful. Plus lots of family things, don’t forget mum is 80 and we’ve got a big weekend for her the first weekend in November. Then sister is 60 in December. it’s a packed agenda!

Grand-kids Time

Thursday I was out again (after sleeping till 11, admittedly LOL) in the afternoon to go to collect my son’s two little ones from nursery and half-term camp, and we had another great time. I walked with Kaleb to go and get Blake, see the Vlog below. They are such fun at that age, and on the way back, we got a little Babyccino each for them, a coffee for me, and some chips and sat on the bench in the nearby green and talked about birds and what Kaleb had seen at nursery, for Halloween. They had a lady with critters and creatures and a snake and a rat that the children could say hi to and stroke! He was full of it, bless him. Later after dinner & bath, I read to Blake, her favourite Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, picture book version. But I kept nodding off at the ends of sentences! So she prodded me in the ribs to make me carry on 🙂

So it’s been very tiring this week for sure! I got back and mum said to me you’ve got to remember you’re 61! Thanks mum LOL.

SNG sofa!

I had a lovely bunch with me for my first SNG, ‘Saturday Night Gifts’, hour of the season, where we start off on the couch, like we do when QVC has a Lunchtime Show or Menopause Your Way.  It was a very busy hour and it was lovely to see some of our favourite guests with some brilliant bargains! There will be some super presents coming up for everybody to take advantage of, in the next several weeks, so join us if you can and don’t forget to look through everything online on qvcuk.com too, as there are often really good bargains to be had if you just ‘sort by’ prices ‘low to high’ to see all the clearance! There’s a brilliant Gatineau deal this weekend too, see below!

Watch – Theatre – ‘Private Lives’ with Nigel Havers and Patricia Hodge

What a masterful production this was. Patricia Hodge is absolutely outstanding and I mean outstanding! Nigel Havers is very good, and the other two are pretty good too. It’s a Noël Coward, done wonderfully well, and once it settled down, I enjoyed every minute. I would see it again one day but I have so many other things to see! Probably 8.75 out of 10 🙂

I went with lovely Amy Anzel and Selin Taylor (previous and occasional QVC guests and friends). We had the most wonderful meal beforehand in Amy‘s club which is just opposite, above the Ivy restaurant. And had a proper catch-up afterwards as well. So nice to go out out!

Watch 2 – chuffed to learn that ‘Upload’ series 2 is finally out, if you remember that surreal series about life after death inside a digital world, kooky and crazy and funny. And also out now is the TV adaptation of one of my books of the year, ‘Lessons in Chemistry‘ which is on Apple TV. Can’t wait to see them!

Funny

Had a laugh with my mummy Lesley out on the balcony this week when she took photos for me as I prepared to tell everyone about the upcoming centigrade TSV coat that turns into a gilet. We laughed and said because it’s got a removable hood AND removable sleeves, maybe you could just wear the hood and the sleeves! They wouldn’t fit on my legs but this worked LOL. But one of the photos that made everybody smile was the ‘photographer’ getting in on the act at the end of this little reel on Instagram! Go here to see mum doing her version of a QVC pose LOLX

PodcastGo here to get the latest Inside QVC podcast from Will, and the current one if you haven’t listened yet :-). Don’t forget there’s a massive back list to catch up on, too!

New on Monday 30th, catch up with Will as he discusses bringing new brands with super guest and supplier Abi Cleeve, of ultrasun and skinsense fame – you may be surprised at what other brands she has helped – and some of her potent ingredients in her skincare range!

Vlog – This week people reported that they liked this little walk through the park when I went to see my grandchildren on Thursday afternoon, in Fulham. Kaleb is a talkative little soul! Take a look here and don’t forget to watch #Thursdaybantz while you are at it, on my Facebook page!

Book of the Week – Well, having finished nearly everything else, I took my hygienist’s advice and continued reading Angela Marsons’ book 2 in the Detective Kim Stone series, ‘Evil Games’, is absolutely brilliant – so well researched. I’m now on book 3. I hate to say it but there are more than 18! Hopefully I can vary it a bit. After all, the new Lee Child Jack Reacher novel is out imminently and I will be getting underway with that very soon!

Sunday – time for the luxury age benefit renewal collection. Not only do you get the top of the range age benefit night renewal elixir –  which is new – to help to reduce the appearance of deep-set wrinkles and uneven skin tone whilst strengthening thinning, fragile skin (a must for older skins), there’s a super size of the age benefit regenerating eye cream, 50 mil size of the top of the range age benefit regenerating cream, plus a new DeFi lift volumising treatment with colour for the lips, and once a week peel. All you need to do is use it once a week! It really makes a difference and plumps the skin and feels incredible. I really, really loved using it and will definitely continue to do so. There are so many products that we are asked to trial, and many of them are good but don’t get this kind of reaction from me! The extra video over on my newsletter this week is the link to the video I took in my bathroom with no make-up on, putting the mask on! **

The thing is this, so much impact and effect, for such a little amount of effort. Genius! Looking forward to selling it to you! Already online, go get it early 🙂
