Devon Family Hol and Sneaky Peeks!

What a lovely summer holiday I had with the family. A proper week off, to be together under the same roof, and mum came for three nights too. We had several outings including to War Horse Farm, regulars will remember I went there with pal yoga Jennie and said I’d love to bring the kids back. Well we did. I also got to cuddle a goat! See this week’s newsletter for that one! (It’s this week’s exclusive, if you don’t get to the newsletters please sign up by clicking the icon at the bottom of this page. Please note some Internet email addresses/providers don’t accept the emails. Check your spam. Or better still try a different email, see the note below.)

Plus there were excursions to see family in Ilfracombe, where Blake went on a fairground ride in a teacup and the kids went on a bouncy castle with my niece Jodi’s family; swimming at the local pool, and of course the beach – thank goodness it didn’t rain, it was quite warm and sticky and the little ones loved playing in the shallows on Bude beach.

Happily for me, (I explain why I use the word happily, on this week’s ‘watch’, see below!), the Sun did not come out and stay out, in the belting way it did when we went to the Milky Way on Wednesday, when it was so damn hot! But that was a great family day out, especially for little ones, their soft play is superb, and the bird show was fascinating, the dodgems were fun, and the little roller coasters were a thrill for the girls 🙂

It was so lovely to see the family together, absolutely great to spend time with my daughter and son, although looking after the little ones especially helping my son, it did not give me as much time with the others as I would’ve liked. Hopefully it will be better and easier next year when they’re all a bit older, especially the two little boys. But I wouldn’t have it any other way. Mum and partner came too. And a good time was had by all!

I was quite pleased with several of the photos I managed to take. Particularly these ones – I might get some framed and put on the wall! What do you think? What’s your favourite?

It’s a holiday I’ve been looking forward to having at my place in Devon, ever since I bought it. And it was so lovely to have all my descendants in one place. We managed to take several group shots which I hope will be part of what I print and put on the wall at home to remember a lovely family summer.

SNIPPETS

Midweek Meeting

Managed to get away mid week for an association meeting with our MP Sir Geoffrey Cox. Very proud to be launching the Patrons group, although lots of disenchantment with politics at the moment, I like the people and I like organising events and this was a good one. Thank you to Susan Collins my friend in Devon, for helping to choose the venue and arrange it all. Was nice to be a grown-up again for a while 🙂

Family meet Friends

Tuesday morning, I finally got to introduce my friends to my family and vice versa! My lovely Devon friends all came along and said hi. I also got to make a cake, which didn’t quite turn out right – it’s one of the funnies in this week’s #thursdaybantz, my regular Thursday night Facebook live. See below under “watch“.

Mum the Romany?

Whilst at the War Horse Farm, mum spotted this gypsy caravan. She has always said she had gypsy roots or Romany roots or traveller roots, whichever is the appropriate phrase nowadays. She said she could imagine herself touring the country in something like this! Behind her, the two little girls were exploring 🙂 I liked this photo so I thought I’d share it. No one has turned up yet on mums ancestry.com but you never know…

Super Scrabble

Played a lot of board games including Articulate and of course this one. Mum is very good at this sort of thing. Lauren won the first night though. Luck of the draw from the bag but also skill. This was one of the best finishing boards – can you guess which word I was most proud of putting down?!

Watch

Only watched kids programs this week, so how about this? This week’s #thursdaybantz. With several funnies! I’ve got the giggles a couple of times 🙂 enjoy 🙂 from the holiday in Devon. See if you can spot what’s wrong with the ceiling in my lounge in Devon at the start of the video (here) 🙂

Funny – Ali Keenan again, she posted this week! Funny! And eek at the same time! (See it here).

PodcastGo here to get the latest Inside QVC podcast from Will, and the current one if you haven’t listened yet :-). Don’t forget there’s a massive back list to catch up on, too!

This week it’s the turn of Imogen Connolly, one of our fashion experts. She talks to Will Gowing about the early years of her career, reflexology, training as a fitness instructor, and transforming her life 🙂

Vlog – as promised, an unusual one from my holiday, on a day with her son was very ‘Bitey’. Anyone else ever heard anything like this? We are one of only 250 people in the whole of the UK apparently… #EPP … #itsaDNAThing (See it here).

Book of the Week – Omgeeee I am loving my current series of books. Not only did I really enjoy ‘The Brief’. I’m now onto the second book, ‘The Honest Man’, featuring the hero Charles Holborne, a Jewish London barrister in the early 1960s, he becomes a bit of an outcast, in the days of the Kray twins. Really really well done. Kind of a John Grisham type courtroom scenario going on for much of it. Very clever as well. And an excellent narrator! Highly recommended!
