Debbie Flint

I’m going to kick off this week with a reminder about why it’s vital to break free from the nasty insidious grip of sugar addiction, in order to be able to lose weight long term and Freedom Eat properly. One lady on TTFLS group (see bottom) this week talked about how it’s time of the month and having changed her taste buds, she didn’t even have her usual cravings for sweet stuff at this point. She was amazed. I’m not.

Do read some of the articles and watch some of the videos on my

‘aids to cutting back sugar’ blog – click here.

Stand by to be amazed, believe me, if you haven’t done this already.

I see many people talking about needing to lose weight, saying they have plateaued or reporting good losses and full of enthusiasm one week, whilst being adamant they still need to eat sugary stuff as ‘treat’s. Then all of a sudden they disappear for ages and then come back saying they’ve had a major setback, binged or gone off on a sugar rampage and undone all the good work, really down on themselves.  MOST OF THE TIME those ladies later admit their blip had begun with some sweet ‘treat’ which turned into lots of them, then they ended up beating themselves up, having one long last supper (that ‘start again tomorrow, eat the cupboards bare now’ rubbish we’ve all done at one point or another!) and feeling really really bad and down on themselves.

It’s NOT necessary to have sweet treats (cakes, ice creams, sweets.) It’s truly not. You can get sweetness from some natural foods like a little fruit (whole fruit, a little) and certain non-fructose based home cooked recipes. Or Marlene’s sweet vegetable tea – that’s one of the most amazing alternatives whilst you’re trying to cut down. A squeeze of lemon juice in hottish water is also incredible at helping to combat a sweet tooth and people really report great results in changing what their bodies are actually asking for once they’ve been drinking that each day instead of sugary coffee or tea or fizzy drinks or (just as bad if not worse sometimes) fruit juice drinks. Once you're off the white stuff, it's ok to have sugary stuff every so often, of course, that's what the Freedom Eating 'when' diet is all about. BUT your body often WON'T now feel like it...

So do what you can if you’re seriously trying to lose weight and get some sanity back into mealtimes and snacktimes. Will power will help of course, but the information you get from my blog above can make the difference between it being a permahabit and a quick fix.

Great Results.

Here are some more fab comments that have gone up on the groups I run this week – what’s yours? Do tell us on one of them! (links are below)

And this from QVC UK item 704285 - “Firstly I want to say this is NOT a diet! This is a book which will stop you dieting forever, make you rethink your relationship with food and let you eat whatever you want BUT in doing so you will lose weight and change your life.

Since buying the book I have quit sugar, learned to listen to my body about when to eat and what, and the result is since January I have lost inches all over, gone down two dress sizes and lost over two stone. All this and I still eat bacon sarnies and have chips, I eat out and I enjoy my food even more than I ever have before! This I coming from a real foodie too! My taste buds have altered, I not only look better but feel so much better too.

Don't just flip through, read bits that appeal at first and think them through, so many people have scoffed and said it is common sense, well if it is why are so many of us overweight and prisoners to food! Try it you have 30 days!!!”

"I have struggled with my weight for years and now with a combination of ttfls, SW and BB I am getting it under control without feeling under any pressure at all. As a footnote I read the Paul McKenna stuff years ago and it did nothing for me, but ttfls is getting into my brain and I am actually asking myself 'what do I want to eat'? Instead of mindlessly shovelling stuff down." Facebook TTFLs

If you have been wearing gel nails or any form of enhancement, nail envy and Avoplex is the best treatment. If you have lost layers of natural nail and the nails are peeling our main aim is to grow the weakened edge out first. Don't think you are growing for length at first, but keep using the nail envy every other day, removing it at the end of the week, file any growth, reapply nail envy and continue till all the peeling has grown out, then you can go for length. Continue with the routine, if you stop your nails will go back to how they were before you started. Apply Avoplex oil as often as you can, over the envy. The key is moisture

I have used lots of OPI products for over 8 yrs now. Wouldn't be without nail envy & avoplex oil.

My nails grow like wild fire, have to cut them down every week to keep them at a manageable length.

Love Big Apple Red for my toe nails. OPI nail lacquers stay on my toes unchipped for about 6 weeks, they grow off!

Julie, are there any red lacquers on the show?

You will see a real difference in 6 months, as this is the time for the nail to grow out from the cuticle to the free edge

Lynn Parry Thanks Julie wasn't rinsing off will start doing that I was leaving it on overnight. How long does it take for peeling nails to grow out?

3 hrs · Like · 2

Julie Barham Joanne, infinite shine is a gel lacquer system. It is a separate base, colour and top coat which wears like a gel and last up to 10 days. It is remover with our none acetone polish remover. I find this last longer on my nails, especially after looking after my horses

3 hrs · Like · 2

Julie Barham

I would just like to confirm the best way to improve your nails. Apply nail envy to your bare nail, apply 2 coats, then every other reapply, remove this at the end of the week and start again. You can use it as a base coat and top coat and keep reapplying over the colour, and remove as usual at the end of the week. Nail envy can help all nail problems, flakey, peeling, soft, brittle and bitten. You're Avoplex should be applied through out the day, as often as you can

3 hrs · Unlike · 5

Joanne Mitchell Oh! Can the infinite shine primer and gloss be be used with opi regular nail polish colours as I have loads and can't afford to replace

3 hrs · Like

Sue Stewart Great advice Julie. Thank you. Just need for it to arrive from QVC now.

3 hrs · Like

Julie Barham Lynn it depends on how far your nails have peeled back, on average from the cuticle to the free edge is 6 months, so if the nails are just peeling on the tip give it a few months , keep nail envying and Avoplex, and each week use OPIs crystal file to take those peeling edges away.

Webchat - Bruce from Bodyblade - Monday 25th May 2015

Hello Bodyblade Ohana! Today is a special holiday in the U.S. where we honor all men and women who gave their life protecting our freedom. Memorial day weekend is a time to reflect and celebrate with friends and family. I am excited to be with you tonight at 8pm. I thought we'd talk about the value of training with a partner! Research shows that results are better when you have someone else to share results, challenge each other set goals.

Wendy Lawrence Hi Bruce hope you're ok, asking this for Poppy Warden 'Is it better to do as much as possible in one go (until muscles are aching) or is it better to split it up into smaller amounts? also please do you have any tips for getting a good wobble on Tricep push' Thank you very much x

Oh dear Bruce I hope it's just not you and me. It's a Bank Holiday in England today as well. I'm retired and use my BB on my own. I don't know of anyone else who has one. We do challenge each other on the fb page for some activity at certain times of the day. We then report back to say how we got on. It's not like being in the same room but it definitely helps. I went on a 9 mile walk yesterday cross country and lots of the girls willed me on. Some did a Leslie Sansone walk as I was walking and I knew they were with me.

Hi Bruce happy holidays. Yes I agree it is better to exercise with others. I love joining in with you and Debbie as I feel I am not alone. Also find the moves are easier to do as I feel more determined to keep up with everyone. The Hampton Court exercise is also good as we are able to see other members namely Anne. With the help of you, Debbie and support from other members I have managed to lose a stone in weight and inches from my waist and hips. Just want thighs to reduce.

Jill Dowding-Walker I have been a bit of a shirker with my BB recently! I had a fall and hurt my back a month ago, then was just getting over that when I fell flat on my face a few days ago! Hi Wendy. Answering Poppy's question is two fold. You can always split exercise into smaller or more relaxed sessions so you go easy on the muscles and training but you also can train harder in each session to become stronger, faster, increase endurance and essentially progress. When exercising with Bodyblade or any device, there comes a time when you can train harder for growth. You have to challenge the body to work harder, longer and more intensely to make progress. Pushing yourself in the right way, is a good thing when training. Imagine an athlete training for the Olympics. If they just do a little each day or when they feel the burn or challenge in their body, they stop to rest.....progress will be average. Perhaps, a consistent training regimen, 3 to 4 times a week and remember "Flex Intensity" to make progress. We are all with you!!

Jo Hunt Karen recommended the body blade to me. I've searched online reading reviews and even joined this group before buying one! It should arrive any day now so where do I start?! Is it the dvd that comes with it or are there better options?

I go to to the gym 3 times a week and work with a trainer so my fitness isn't terrible but I need extra help!

Anne Keating Bruce we had a discussion the other day and decided to ask your advice. Can you advise the best exercises to use a. To put on inches in the chest area and not to lose them and, b. To lose inches in the same area and not to put them on. It's not a flippant question Bruce some of us genuinely don't want to put on whilst others don't want to lose inches. Thanks. xx

Bruce Hymanson Hi Jill, sorry to hear you have fallen a couple of times. Perhaps share Bodyblade with your Doctor to see what they say. Bodyblade can help exercise those deep spinal muscles to bring blood and help move waste products away from the injuried area. Make sure they approve but, it might help you recover with "gentle" training for rehab rather than heavier training for regular training.

Anne Ward Hi Bruce not used BB for a few weeks as I had sore arms and wrists with painting the fence healing fine then done some gardening sore again is there any exercise I can do to strengthen my wrists x

3 hrs · Like · 2

Bruce Hymanson

Hi Anne, hope all is well with you! Great question about taking off and or maintaining size in the chest. This is a difficult combo. For some, losing weight will reduce the size of their breast as breast tissue is normally composed of fat tissue as well. Each individual is different. For some, losing weight may mean seeing their breast size go down. For others, they may lose inches elsewhere in the body and not in the breast area at all. Our individual genetic make up is different and will vary from person to person. That is separate from toning and strengthening the body. We can not spot reduce when it comes to weight loss. So, we can't exercise to lose weight around just our stomach, chest or hips for example. We can only globally lose inches the way our individual body is programmed. When it comes to changing the shape of your arms or toning the chest, hips, legs, we can do specific exercises to address those areas of the body. If you want to increase the toned look of the chest, shoulders and arms, we can focus on those exercises that will help in those areas. Remember, Bodyblade is not recommended to be used like weight training to build large massive muscles but rather defined, toned, sculpted and strong muscle.

Sometimes, there is something called "Thoracic Outlet Syndrome" which produces symptoms like Carpel Tunnel and Bodyblade will also help with that. Bruce Hymanson Hi Anne, difficult to specifically say what exercises to do that will strengthen the wrist (other than Bodyblade). For Bodyblade, any exercise you do will always strengthen your wrist (which is really strengthening your forearms both inside and outside). The key in to increase muscle endurance and grip strength which will naturally occur with Bodyblade training. Make sure you are clear to train.

Hi Debbie, great question about how to partner up on our group. Perhaps get a few people to do more then just a virtual exercise at a particular time. Add a new dimension. For example, how about doing the super 6 and recording your time in each exercise. Keep a log, share it with the group and keep track as a group. So, you train virtually but with specific goals that everyone keeps track of for progress. Have a start date and meet (virtually) for six weeks recording progress. I'm open to additional ideas too.

What a fabulous week, including spending time with lovely Bruce from Bodyblade when we went to record our latest new routine at Hampton Court and stopped off for a nice cuppa afterwards with one of our lovely ladies, Anne Keating. And then doing another full hour with him on QVC UK on Saturday night. It was a great example of reaching the tipping point.

The Bodyblade QVC facebook group now topped 1200 members, Back to You QVC group has over 3080 and Till the Fat Lady Slims group another 620 or more. It means there are some superb supportive environments for us all to make use of to keep on track and not feel alone in the quest to get healthy. (links to all are at bottom of page)

Below you will see the webchats with Bruce from tonight – Monday 30th March. And Abi Cleeve from Ultrasun takes the stage with advice on combining her genius once a day sun protection with other products and shares her own beauty routines too.

Bruce explains all

Tonight Bruce said this about why Bodyblade works so well –

“OK, so How can a airplane that weighs 112 tons, or 348,000 kilograms actually fly. The answer is all in the physics. It's called Bernoulli"s Principles. Has to do with fluid dynamics and "Lift". The shape of the wing creates lift so the pressure under the wing is greater than the top of the wing so it pushes the plane up. You can't see it with the naked eye yet we see these monster aircraft take off and fly in the sky. Bodyblade looks like a flapping stick but the flex in the blade and the physics involved are every bit as real as those that make a plane fly. They are the laws of Inertia from Sir Issac Newton.”

So the next time your cynical loved one says ‘how can that stick really be doing any good’ tell them that! And then get them to do the hip and thigh No6 exercise – for a full minute! Lol!

Hampton Court circuits, sequence, coffee and catch up.

I must say growing up, Hampton Court was one of my favourite places to be, and from Merton it didn’t take too long to get there. So when we were considering which venue to use for the next variation video, it was a simple choice. Shame it was so cold but at least the sun came out for the second one. I like the look of the second one – I think we’ll have to do it to music at some point! Anne Keating one of our lovely Back to You regulars kindly came down with an extra Bodyblade for Bruce and joined in. Anyway I’ve put the whole lot – every current top youtube clip from Bruce and me, and from Bruce solo, into one blog – on this website, and you can get to it from the home page too, if you ever forget how to access them.

Click here to see all the bodyblade videos.

Do come join in and do share your experiences! There’s always someone there to give support and feedback and show you’re not the only one going through what you’re going through. Here’s Anne’s lowdown - a diary style entry – to share what’s been going on in her life including how she’s lost more weight! She put it on our open ‘page’ ‘3MCFeb’ on Facebook. (link below.)

Getting ready for China

I’m less than two weeks away now, from jetting off to help train QVC China presenters for three weeks, and am thinking about all the things I’m going to have to take with me! I’ve promised Gatineau to do a full trial on a complete Defilift skincare routine, and will of course take all my gadgets I use regularly, plus a stack of cold medicines, vitamins etc, in case the Beijing smog attacks me! Hope it won’t! I’m planning to do tons of walking too so the case will be a full one! Yes I’ll be seeing the sights at some point too before I come back around 2nd May. Gladly my Bodyblade will fit in my suitcase too – I just hope the security scanner doesn’t go off in wonderment! Lol!

Other news

-          Another disappointing ‘Truth About’ programme from the BBC. I was going to link to last week’s truth about calories but my heart sank when I saw it was being presented by the awful doctor they keep using who just doesn’t seem to be up to date or comprehensive enough to make his programmes worth watching. Your thoughts echoed this too – ‘didn’t learn anything new’ was the most common reaction. It’s on iPlayer so search it if you’re interested, but if not, maybe we should all email the producer in BBC Scotland and request that they get Marlene on to talk some sense about health and food eh!

-          Fifty years of women’s fitness video – from stretches to Zumba – fab video – wonder if you too did all of the ones in your own era? I’d have liked to see Callanetics in there too – end of 80s? click here

-          (but of course nothing beats the original Youtube sensation ‘History of Dance! With 290m views! If you’ve never seen it, Click here. And if you HAVE seen it, here’s the genius sequel #2 – click here to see it!

Lorna Connell Hi Abi, hope you're well. Can you tell us what will be in the TSV? Thanks x

Marie McEwan hi there Abi, which items would you reccomend for extremely sensitive adult skin and 2 year old fair skin? Cheers!

Glenys Phillips Hi Abi. If you have put all your skin care on first thing in the morning. Then about 2 hours later you realise you have to go out do you have to cleanse your skin again before applying Ultrasun? Thank you.xx

Chris Dig N Doug Hi Abi. Quick question. Should I use my Decleor iris oil before or after my face 30 ? xx

Vanessa Bond Hi Abi how many tubes of Ultra sun do you recommend for a one week stay in Spain in August for two children who love swimming thanks x

Sue Foley hi abi looking forward to the tsv and pick of the month which ive tried and its fab

Sara Mahmoud Hi Abi, how often should we use the new overnight treatment? And I am looking forward to tsv so much on Thursday, I never miss an ultrasun tsv.

Lynn Parry Hi Abi where would you put this in your daily skincare routine after serum and moisturiser or before? Thanks x

Carol Gillmore Hi Abi do ultrasun do a tan accelerator? Xx

Lindsey Sweet Hi Abi, I am new to Ultrasun could you please tell me if you apply it before or after moisturiser or if using a face serum do you put Ultrasun on before it or after serum. I will be buying the TSV on Thursday for sure and will get the spf50+. Thanks

Dawn Robinson Hello Abi  i was going to ask the same as Carol, if Ultrasun do a tan accelerator xx

Abi Cleeve Hi everyone – so lovely to be here. Thank you for having me! So excited about this week but must admit struggling to sleep! I will go through your questions and please feel free to ask away!!! Xxx

Abi Cleeve Right then Lorna Connell – the TSV is available in two strengths – medium/high and high/very high. The med has supersize (quarter of a litre – yes I appreciate it’s 250ml but quarter of a litre sounds EVEN BIGGER!) of the Glimmer and standard size Family 30 and supersize aftersun, lip and full size anti ageing face 30.The high has supersize (quarter of a litre – yes 250ml) of the Family 30 and standard size Extreme 50+ and supersize aftersun, lip and full size anti ageing face 50+.All adds up to over £110 for hmmm for…a lot less. Actually whole pack is cheaper than buying the supersize on its own!

Sharon Harvey Hi Abi so lovely to welcome you here tonight, thank you for popping onto the page and keeping an eye on our Sun protection! Cannot wait for the TSv, you must be so excited?x

Abi Cleeve Yes Sharon Harvey - you and Debbie Flint know what I'm like. I could pop! I absolutely love what I do but honestly the best bit is that people love Ultrasun once they've found it and that makes my smile even bigger! xxx My kids call me a "suncare nut job!" xxx

Sharon Harvey Better than just being "nut job"

Abi Cleeve Hi Marie McEwan – definitely the Extreme 50+ for little ones and for you to start with then maybe step down to the family 30. Keep a 2 year old on the Extreme 50+ please.Sounds like the high/very high TSV is perfect for you. xxx

Dawn Robinson Also what would you say are your top 3 beauty products

Abi Cleeve Very true - not just a nutjob a SUNCARE nut job! ought to be my tagline. xxx

Lindsey Sweet Welcome Abi x

Jill Dowding-Walker Hi Abi! x

Sue Foley hi abi

Sharon Harvey I would honestly like to thank you because, i would like to hope that we all have a knowledge of Suncare protection, at least at the very basic level, but you and Ultrasun have managed to educate, inform and glamourise Suncare protection so much ( by adding shimmer ) that it is automatically a part of my day to day rountine. Thank you! x

Abi Cleeve Now then I’m going to address the big before or after debate. Because Ultrasun is once-a-day. I do need to get it on to clean dry skin. The way it works is that we place the sun filters into liposome jackets. This encapsulation process protects the filters and allows the skin to absorb it right into the skincell. It is naturally released 8-10 hours later, hence the protection lasts so long and is water resistant. It also means it is photostable so won’t break down under the sun’s rays. This means I need a clear canvass to make sure it absorbs properly. You can put your skincare over the top and you are not wasting it. xxx

Christine Kelly Hi ladies. I always have ultra sun in stock. I use on myself (( despite being Afro carribean) and insist that my fairer skin daughters and husband use it to. Highly recommended and love the after sun too

Jill Dowding-Walker I get dry corners of my mouth and the Ultrasun Face seems to 'bleed' into them, even if I slather on the lip balm as a barrier. I am not keen on the taste!  Any ideas how I can still be protected (especially on the filtrum) but not fed on Ultrasun please?

Lynn Cheeseman Hi Abi. Quick question how much protection does the hair protector give a gents scalp. The sport got in hubs eyes and stung, but the family 30 is great but a makes his fine hair very messy. Would the hair protector help?

Lesley Fletcher Hi Abi Cleeve, will beauty product of the month be the new overnight treatment or the product featured in the Sun yesterday, the 50+ Anti ageing/anti pigmentation?

Abi Cleeve Hello Glenys Phillips - no you wouldn't need to cleanse first after about 20 minutes your skincare would have sunk in and Ultrasun will still get a great application. So this is an alternative way to apply. You could apply Ultrasun about 20 minutes plus after skincare but please do wait for everything to sink in. xxx

Abi Cleeve My honest advice would be with facial protection - try and get that on as part of your normal routine. When on hols - first thing in the morning. We have always done that in hotel room, apartment or more laughable in a tent! Then by the time I have fed my little monkeys - I know they are good to go. xxx

Jacqueline Jackson Hi Abi do we still get vit D absorption whilst using Ultrasun? My OH is vit D deficient and refuses to be protected. I'd love to prove him wrong lol x

Lesley Fletcher Can moisturiser be applied immediately after Ultrasun or is it best to leave a while before applying?

Abi Cleeve Hi Vanessa Bond I would say for a beach holiday - work on 100ml per child per week and 150ml for an adult. A little goes a long way. xxx

Linda M Evans Hi Abi I use Decleor Aromessence do I put this on before or after

Abi Cleeve OK on Pick of the Month - my goodness me this is ground breaking stuff and I am so very proud of the Swiss formulators on all they do but this is special. We now know that your skin goes through 3 stages of recovery at night...triage/assessment, repair and hydration. Unless you want to set your alarm clock every 3-4 hours you need the right ingredients at the right time. The Overnight mask is a very light texture - sinks in really beautifully and has a system of hyaluronic cages (very technical) that are differing thicknesses so they melt at different times feeding the skin what it needs. xxx

Abi Cleeve We now know that the "genetics" part of ageing is actually how genetically good we are at repairing daily damage. Now we can support it and clinicals and feedback been amazing.

Anne-Marie Mason Hi Abi, great to have you on here again. Just realised how much of a stalker I must be as I seem to know what you'll say to alot of these questions! I'm an ultrasunaholic I think. Please please remind me if it's this week that the eye cream is coming, if so, I won't buy other things coz I really can't miss it. x

Abi Cleeve I am not trying to say you need this every night - no I am sure we all have a fave routine that we won't be separated from (well til the next amazing TSV anyway) but this is a must for holidays or very hot days here. xx

Claire Horgan wow the overnight mask sounds fricking amazing...I need to get sun protection for my 2 babies they are both under 3,I assume the high/very high tsv would be the one to go for?

Abi Cleeve You know when you've packed for him, you've packed for them and you end up with the luxury of about 10 minutes to pack for yourself. Have you ever stepped into the bathroom and grabbed a randon selection of skincare or whatever's running out so you don't have to bring it back? Well just remember your hols is the most traumatic time for your skin where you will put it under the most pressure. This mask is your one-stop solution to that trauma. Oh and 2 years shelf life so as its 50ml (about 2-3month) might last you 2 years worth of holidays? xx

Claire Horgan wow does everything have 2 year shelf life?

Abi Cleeve Hi sara and Lynn Parry just use it once at night - last thing if you can because of the time release. I would say 3-4 pumps. Thanks Sue Foley glad you liked it. xxx

Sue Foley the overnight make's yr skin very soft and hydrated loved it abi and looking forward to trying it in the sun x

Sharon Harvey The Overnight Recovery mask is absolutely beautiful! You literally wake up with hydrated, plum, dewy glowing looking skin that feels clean and healthy....such a brilliant product!!

Claire Horgan omg that overnight mask sounds incredible ladies

Denise Skerman Hi Abi have you got a protection cream for around the eyes please?

Abi Cleeve Yes we do a tan accelerator - it is 205895. Our aftersun is also a tan accelerator - yes it really is! You can use it for a week or more if you can before going away and it does everything you would expect - preps the skin for sun exposure, helps reduce that risk of skin trauma (prickly heat). The tan accelerator has doule the concentration of ingredients like super oxide dismutase and tanositol which get that tan coming through even faster. I would say if you haven't tan-accelerated (think I made up a new phrase there!) before, use the aftersun. That's why we put the supersize (250ml) in the TSV. xx

Sharon Harvey The Suncare Nut JOb just told us to Tan Accelerate ..........hehehehe

Abi Cleeve Just a quick word on the aftersun. Please don't underestimate its power or think it is just an add-on to bulk up the TSV. It is a very special formula and even used in medical environments. It is the first thing I reach for on a thermal burn (daughter helping with ironing). It cools and reduces the over activity in skin cells caused by UV radiation and is genuinely your defence against the ageing and damaging effects of the sun. Bodies age too! xxx

Sharon Harvey wow

Sharon Harvey So Abi......where is your favourite place in the world to use Ultrasun? x

Carol Gillmore Thankyou Abi will try the after sun xx

Abi Cleeve Aha yes I did Sharon Harvey but it is so important that you do because...if you see that tan nice and early I know you are less likely to take risks. Anyone ever compared their tan lines to hubby or best friend and then maybe said "that's it, I'm stepping down to a lower factor and gonna be out there all day!!!" Yes that is when we do horrendous shocking damage so I would much rather you saw your tan, felt confident and enjoyed it rather than took extra risks. We are all human xxx

Claire Horgan thats good to know about the after sun..really cooling and conditioning so

Anne-Marie Mason Ooh, and I've always wondered, where do you get your jewellery from Abi? x

Abi Cleeve Hi Dawn Robinson oooh fave 3...not including ultrasun of course. Would have to be Judith Williams Future skin - am loving that and have heard there's a TSV so saving up for that one. (Have to mention that I have known Judith for a while and I really admire her so I am biased), I do love prolegene (sorry about spelling) as my skin flares and Fiona told me that was the one...and it is. Also I am a bare minerals girl...and A'kin rosehip oil is great for redness and older skin damage - oops that's 4 sorry. xxx

Abi Cleeve Hi Jill Dowding-Walker which face product are you using? I would say try the anti pigmentation if you can. It is our newest formula and was designed to not only dramatically reduce pigmentation but to be kind on very dry skin - even specialist conditions. xxx

Lynn Parry Sorry Abi I meant the daytime ultrasun face cream could you still use usual moisturiser and would you apply before or after? Many thanks x

Sharon Harvey dawn robinson bet you are dancing on the spot right now xx

Dawn Robinson Ooowww i  Judith too !!!! Thank you Abi  xx

Dawn Robinson I am, you know me to well Sharon yayyyyyyy  xx

Abi Cleeve Hi Lynn Cheeseman the hair protector is an SPF 30. We don't put it on the packaging as we can't claim SPF for a non skin specific product. As it is designed for hair you cannot claim a specific SPF. I know a few people have commented that it doesn't have SPF but it does it does. Really important to protect partings and scalps xxx

Sharon Harvey Oh wow....how did i miss the hair product?? As a natural blonde... very fair that is something i am always concerned about, also my children, protecting their hair in the sun... ThankS Lynn & Abi, will try that xx

Abi Cleeve Thank you Christine Kelly - so important. Although black and darker skin tones are less susceptible and therefore lower numbers of serious damage - unfortunately the diagnosis is often very late (harder to detect changes) and therefore we are really working to support this education so our black and asian youngsters are aware that they do need to protect. xxx

Anne Keating Hi Abi. I used the hair protector on holiday in January. It was very hot and I have very little, fine, baby soft. With the hair protector and with Philip Kingsley's Elasticizer, my hair has never looked so good! Really pleased. Thank you. xx

Lynn Cheeseman Thanks Abi. Just to add I used to have to avoid sun until ultrasun, it's no fun being prawn coloured with prickly heat. Now I can spend time outside with my lovely horse or in my garden and know I am protected. Xxx

Abi Cleeve Hi Lesley Fletcher it is the Overnight Summer Skin Recovery Mask - was featured in The Sun as well at the weekend and The Metro in the week. xxx but you are right they also covered the anti-pigmentation face formula xxx

Lesley Fletcher Thanks Abi, will definitely be getting that along with the tsv xx

Sharon Harvey Abi.....i know, i know Ultrasun must go on first....but are there any skincare products across any ranges that MUST go on before Ultrasun? Any exceptions to the rule? xx

Abi Cleeve Hi jacqueline jackson - yes you do but at a slower rate depending on what formula you are using. Supplements are always a good idea. We are looking at ways to get vit D into Ultrasun but the absorption is not yet good enough. We don't want it to be a marketing ploy - it has to actually work xxx

Abi Cleeve Hi Lesley Fletcher and Linda M Evans - yes decleor after please - 20 minute gap would be my ideal please xxx

Debbie Flint abi hi hon! Enjoy the chat everyone! am flitting between this and Bruce over on Bodyblade QVC till 9! Abi - i put a pic of the TSV on my blog - will link it below. Will also link the tan accelerator you mentioned. x

Jacqueline Jackson Thank you Abi .x

Sara Mahmoud Hi Abi, is the ultrasun hair product only for blond and fine hair? Or does it protect normal dark hair too? Thanks

Abi Cleeve Hi Anne-Marie Mason you are not a stalker - you are my very dear friend and I appreciate all your questions and interest. No the eye cream is STILL under testing. The guys in Switzerland are amazing but slow! Because of eye proximity we do a huge amount of testing - we have done it with all formulas. There are products out there that can with over use lead to issues and your eyes are just too precious - well all of you is really xxx

Debbie Flint Abi - question from me - you know my skin - am going to China for three weeks soon (as you know, training QVC presenters there.) And want to tan accelerate - I have several but am curious about using yours this time as it may be warm (hopefully not hot!) out there. Maybe with my photosensitive skin i should just go straight for the tan accelerator rather than the after sun? x

Abi Cleeve I meant Hi Claire Horgan!

Abi Cleeve Yes the high TSV would be perfect and yes everything has a 2 year shelf life AFTER opening xxx

Abi Cleeve Yes Denise Skerman eye cream is coming xxx

Anne-Marie Mason Aw, thank you, love you too Abi! I love all you've done for me and others on here. I'm happy using the lip balm on my eyes and will now defo be able to buy the mask this week! I know how nervous you sometimes are on fb so thank you for doing this for us all. x

Abi Cleeve Anne-Marie Mason you have asked me probably the most embarressing question of the night (so far) jewellery is from a range of exclusive boutiques such as Asda, Matalan and Primark - oooh I am just pure class! xxx

Sharon Harvey Yesssss!!!!!!!! Love Pri-Marni Jewellery

Anne-Marie Mason Ha, I asked because you always look fab! I've wondered for ages but always forget to ask you. x

Denise Skerman Thank you Abi.

Sharon Harvey Oh Abi i love love Ultralip by the way and currently have a stonking cold, we all use it around the sore flaky skin on our noses and it works a treat x

Sue Foley do we know the price of the tsv?

Claire Horgan 2 years after opening..wow thats fab ill be sure to mention that aswell xx

Alexandra Sayce Hi Abi Thanks for chatting with everyone I love how you always have time to answer our questions. Are we ever going to see any supersizes on the hair or sports sprays? I know I always ask about "kids kits" but have become evangelical over the years about Ultrasun and couldn't be without it, and now especially the hair protector for the girls weekly swim lessons.

Abi Cleeve Oh Debbie Flint you are such a busy bee - thank you for popping in and yes for you with your photo sensitivity take it straight to the max girlfriend. More for actual strong support - straight to tan accelerator xxx

Anne-Marie Mason Bless, poor you Debbie, I think you should start layering it on now in preparation. x

Debbie Flint ta hon x

Anne-Marie Mason Ooh yes, not sure I could spray with bigger bottles of the sports but would love more duo's of them please. x

Glenys Phillips Thank you Abi. Have enjoyed reading all the questions and your replies which have been very helpful! xx

Abi Cleeve Hi Alexandra Sayce there isn't a supersize planned of sports spray but I will ask and when I say ask I do actually mean demand! xxx

Abi Cleeve Hi Sara Mahmoud NO the hair protector is for all hair types and colours - it is genuinely sooooper - yes I appreciate I am biased but I have thin, fine, dry ended, over treated hair and it is heaven to use. xxx

Abi Cleeve Yes Anne-Marie Mason duos, I can definitely promise xxx

Sharon Harvey Thats good to know x

Sharon Harvey Please, please join me in saying a huge thank you to the Original "Tan accelerated, Suncare Nut Job"!!! Abi thank you as always, for your fast and precise answers, we appreciate how you keep us all safe! So Looking forward to the Amazing Beauty Pick of the Month and The fabulous value in the Tsv!! See you on our Tv This week, yay!!! Thank you everyone for taking part xx

Anne-Marie Mason Ha, get us the sports sprays in one of those garden sprayer things that you have to pump up! x

Sara Mahmoud Thanks Abi x

Alexandra Sayce That's why you are so fab Abi, I can't get enough of it! I've just read your comments on the after sun and it never crossed my mind to use it on iron burns, I have a four year old that likes to "help" which invariably means I iron part of myself!

Dawn Robinson Thank you Sharon & Abi for another lovely evening xxx

Georgina Bancroft Does the hair protector protect the scalp underneath from burning Abi? My husband always burns on his parting at the back of his head.

Anne-Marie Mason Yeah, thank you loads to our fab suncare nut job, you did great! x

Lesley Fletcher Thanks Abi, really useful reading all your replies xx

Sharon Harvey Its my pleasure x

Alexandra Sayce Like your thinking Anne-Marie Mason! I'd buy that

Abi Cleeve Bless you all - thank you so much. I just don't know where the time has gone! Please look after yourselves and your loved ones. Too much sadness in the world. We all need to be around for our famillies (even if it just to nag them!) Thank you again I really appreciate your support, questions and this wonderful group xxx

Abi Cleeve And yes Georgina Bancroft it does xxx

Anne-Marie Mason Yes, thank you too Sharon. x

Claire Horgan Abi thanks for all the info i can use a lot of it

Sue Foley thanks abi

Jacqueline Jackson Good night Abi thank you and thanks to Sharon too. x

Sharon Harvey Awwwww My pleasure, thank you for joing us x

Bruce Hymanson Funny thing about what I eat after a workout. I try to stay consistent with a good balance of protein and carbs, minimal fat, lots of veggies and limit my red meat. Have to admit however, Saturday night after my show with Debbie, I had the most incredible calzone in the world...!!!! I love Italian food and every once in a while you have to reward yourself.

Lorraine Simpson I've only been playing for nearly a year and today I actually managed to par a hole. I was so thrilled, and that was on an extremely windy, cold, course. Wonderful. I also like your new video's that you did with Debbie and Anne and will use them tomorrow for my workout.

Bruce Hymanson Hi Wendy. Congrats on your son's wedding. My daughter was married in Nov and it was incredible. I know you will look great too. Here's the key. Exercise regularly and pay attention to your "Flex Intensity". This makes all the difference between just a workout and pushing yourself to improve each time. If you are not sure what Flex Intensity is, let me know

Lynne Sneddon Hi Bruce, I love my BB, I have spoken about it several times at my slimming class and last week took it in to give a demonstration and to encourage others to give it a go. doing my best to spread the word about all th good things you can benefit from using BB.

Bruce Hymanson Hampton court and Willow workout are both great! The circuit 6 can be expanded to 20 seconds on each exercise and before you know it, you are doing a 12 minute workout. The progression or scalability of Bodyblade training is really simple. This is all about muscle endurance and flex intensity. These are the two parameters you have control of in your workout.

Week four – we’re one month in to the Three Month Challenge and what a lovely review I got this week on the QVC hardback of my Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 book (704285) – see below. How have you been doing?

Well done to Back to You QVC group - we passed 3000 members this week - whoop! Also this week, the webchats were with lovely Mally herself! And Steven from Yankee Candles. See bottom to find out more

Just out of interest, the indoor skydiving again this week (see QVC blog this Friday 20th) gave my muscles a right good work out and my botom feels even smaller! Also the instructor looked me up and down and then gave me a much smaller suit than i got given last time! Whoop! There's a video of myself and QVC guest Gill Gauntlett and my sis Linda and brother Glenn all at the place - fab fun!

Hope you had a good week. One of the big things I’ve been doing is trying to get people to think about their sugar intake and this week was a great example of someone just not realising the effect of fructose – even within fruit. A lady at work was telling me how she’s put on tummy fat over the last six months and I asked her about her fruit intake – a banana, couple of satsumas and grapes – every day. How long for? I asked. About six months… she said, and a dawning realisation overcame her face. She’s a skinny so she’s never had issues – till now. So no, fruit is NOT ‘free’ if you want to avoid even a tiny bit of sugar addiction and you fancy starting to listen to your body and do Freedom Eating. Do check out the review below to see if it helps you make up your mind then buy the book off QVC (hardback with bonus material 704285) or ebook on Amazon here. It’d be great to hear from you about your story too – come join us on Facebook group Till the Fat Lady Slims, (links below) or just email me This email address is being protected from spambots. From 704285 book on QVC – Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 – the ‘When’ Diet strikes again!

 Best Book EVER!!!

" I have always been on a diet since around the age of 8 and nothing has ever been successful for me. After having 7 children I never thought I'd even get chance to try and lose weight and get a bit of me back again. So after reading many reviews and taking advice I bought this book and I have and will never look back. Just 3 weeks in and I have lost inches as well as 9 1/4lbs just changing the way I look at the food I eat!! This is the first time I have lost weight without being on a restricted diet. thanx to Debbie, I am working my way back to being me again and enjoying it every step of the way!
Another thing is if you join Debbie's Back To You QVC Facebook page, the support on there is AMAZING! Not only from other members but from Debbie herself who takes the time to give you advice and talk to you.”

Yay! Warms the cockles of my heart!

Hayley Widdowson Thanks Steven... You know I love a trend! Happy to have my Tahitian Tiare back now though in the meantime! Xxx

STEVEN - Hi Helen Murphy as long as your trimming your wick each time you go to light it you shouldn't have any problems. Keep it away from drafts so that theflame is kept as still as possible x

Published in Back to You

Week four – we’re one month in to the Three Month Challenge and what a lovely review I got this week on the QVC hardback of my Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 book (704285) – see below. How have you been doing?

Just out of interest, the indoor skydiving again this week (see QVC blog this Friday 20th) gave my muscles a right good work out and my botom feels even smaller! Also the instructor looked me up and down and then gave me a much smaller suit than i got given last time! Whoop! There's a video of myself and QVC guest Gill Gauntlett and my sis Linda and brother Glenn all at the place - fab fun!

Also this week, the webchats were with lovely Mally herself! And Steven from Yankee Candles. See bottom to find out more.

Published in Back to You

After another fun and fabulous Monday Live B2U Hub on our Facebook Group (see below to join) I thought I’d post some of the comments that were made. Lots of stuff going on on our group at the moment – with many members discussing on B2U and also on sister group Break the Habit BTU about their August Challenges. See below for a selection of them. Plus my own begins with being happy I survived a wedding reception without too much of a struggle – I’m not a big drinker anyway and had half a glass of wine, and some sips of champagne. But I did have a bit of wedding cake – half a slice. And got a penchant for Ecuadorian 70% dark choc and had a third of a big flat bar in one day – and lo and behold, sugar hangover next day. Isn’t it amazing? And annoying. But, yes, my body’s so not used to having loads of it that if I over-indulge too much on one day I get a fuzzy head feeling, with a headache over one ear/eye, one of those. And a really tired feeling, like someone’s uncharged my battery!

It’s all part of my current experimentation with Freedom Eating and it’s really nice to note that the old guidelines are coming back. I used this system to lose 35lb about 14 years ago, and more or less keep it off for half a decade, before a combination of a business gone wrong, a disastrous love affair, a house move and financial  problems as well as kids at uni/leaving uni and health issues happened, two of which were instrumental in gradually unlearning some of the cues and reactions. But like riding a bike, it’s coming back. Now I’m finding that even really nice stuff isn’t too appealing any more – so by the time my updated version of Till the Fat Lady Slims is out, I should have some interesting appendix material. Meanwhile I can say that I have nights where I don’t even want a final hot cuppa before bedtime, since I’m really listening to what my body wants, and the sight of truffles and cookies at work do nothing – and I mean nothing – to tempt me. So far so good.

Keep coming back here for my new weekly blog, and on Facebook group for our Monday 8-9pm live Hub, each Monday in the run up to our new series of Back to You starting again 9pm on four of the Mondays in September. And if you have any comments, do post them below!

Next week, one of my best pals in the world – tech expert and musical genius, LJ Rich, and her fascinating insight into living with synaesthesia – the crazy condition where the system is mixed up – find out what banana fritters sound like as a musical piece!

Have a good week!

MONDAY ESSAY – ADVICE FROM ELEMIS’S KEELEY AYDIN as seen on B2U Live Hub

Firstly to say a massive thank you to Craig Rowe my fellow presenter on QVC, who took the helm when I was on air this week, and gave everyone an insight to life with Craigy! Such a  lovely evenings topics. We learned that he has always been a cheerful person – “I think I get it from my mum - she is such a bubbly lady and is always the life and soul of a party. Obviosuly I am not always happy and I have my stuff to deal with like everyone has but whenever I am on QVC or in public or on twitter etc i see it as my duty to smile and shine my light into the world. I do affirmations sometimes and one thing I do always do is say thank you when I wake up in the morning and thank you when I go to bed at night – it’s a blessing to be given every day and I try never to take that for granted.”

Also he has a fitness routine of sorts – “I am doing much more yoga and reformer pilates now since I hurt my back last year with kettlebells and it really helps. I also see my wonderful trainer Maciej (@locomaciej on twitter) twice a week and he puts me through my paces! Other than that I try and walk as much as possible and am using my car much less. Oh and let’s not forget mad dancing at any / every opportunity!!”

You’d better believe he does! Lol! Then we were treated to a whole hour of lifestyle insights and beauty advice from lovely Keeley Aydin from Elemis skincare, one of our biggest brands on QVC. Below is the Monday Essay, where she responds to some of your questions! Enjoy!

Q – Sharon – thanks for joining us Keeley!

KE - so great for me to spend some time with you all.I think I am lucky as without the Elemis products my skin would be a mess as I suffer from very dry skin without the added change in climate and flying, I certainly would never be without Bliss Capsules x

Q – Chris Calvert - Hi Keeley what would u say is the biggest change in skincare that u have seen over ur career so far?

KE - Chris, the fact that skincare can no longer be just determined by a skin type of normal, dry and combination. There are far more factors now that need to be taken into consideration .I think also to see how stem cell therapy can now be used in treating ageing skin . Skincare has advanced so much it's amazing to see in the last 20 years how far we have come and can't wait to see where we go in the next 20 years… as a company we initially had a strong focus in the beginning on body care and a very basic skincare range, I think we have really got it right with our skin are now and you will see some great new products and improvements made to our range and yes the body care products and men's skin care you will see some more improvements and additions

Q – Melissa Lane - Hi Keeley, if you could only have one Elemis product, what would it be and why? Xx

KE - Melissa, I think it would definitely be Pro Collagen Ultra Rich now as I can use it morning and evening and around the eyes and know it helps my skin keep hydrated and now having the Ultra Rich it gives my skin that added help it needs

Q – Joy Padley - Hi Keeley would it be possible for Elemis to bring out a travel size kit especially the pro collagen cleanser and shower cream my faves. Ps: also, good for psoriasis skin.

KE - Joy, I certainly will pass this on and know we have got some great new travel kits.I would say for psoriasis then Skin Nourishing Shower Cream for the body, Frangipani Oil and SOS for the face as your moisturiser

Q – Paula Jane Baker-Price - Hi Keeley, what products would you advise a menopausal 50 something woman to use on a regular basis? I use pro collagen marine cream mornings and pro collagen night cream and radiance cleanser. Anything else I need to use to give a boost? My skin is generally normal but I have dark under eyes and only very slight wrinkles are around eyes. Thanks xx

KE - Paula, I would say Cellular Recovery Bliss Capsules are perfect to help cope the skin go through the many changes the skin experiences

Q – Jill Dowding Walker - Keeley - fragile, red cheeks, getting more thread veins. What should I use? What should I avoid? Thanks

KE - Jill, avoid micro dermabrasion and gycolic based products.I would say SOS Emergency Cream as your moisturiser in the day as it will calm the skin and because of the Kunuba Wax base it will protect the skin .If you do not like the texture of the product then you can use half a pump and mix it in with your favourite moisturiser

Q - Zoe Robins – what’s your favourite food Keeley, what do you do for relaxation?

KE - Zoe, I love love love my food hence you will see my weight go up and down , I love Chinese , Indian and Italian food. I love saucy food that is so fattening .I have a very sweet tooth and love sweets so all not good for you. I do not drink hot drinks so drink a lot of water and think that really helps with my skin. I am lucky as my husband loves cooking and cooks some lovely Turkish food… I have just got back from Turkey and I have eaten non stop for 10 days , so scared my uniform is not going to fit x

Q – Sandra Gregory – don’t ever change, your laugh is so infectious / Michael James Hamlyn – So naughty but as viewers we LOVE it! Dawn Robinson – What I love is when you start to giggle!

KE - Michael, all the presenters are lovely to work with and you can see I think on air how genuine they are. Sandra - I don't think I'll ever change and Ali and Chloe know exactly how to trigger me off and love setting me off. Dawn - each time I go on air I say to myself ok keeley control yourself today and I don't know what happens I just lose control .I am like the Pringles advert once I pop I can't stop lol xx

Q – Claire Spoors – do you miss the UK?

KE - Claire, I love been here as life is a different pace and all my family are here , we are close to Omers family and due to omers health and family health problems we can be close, I am lucky as I am able to travel and still do my work so I have a lovely balance

Q – Dawn Robinson – What makeup brands do you use?

KE - Dawn , without a doubt Bare Minerals in general but do love Bobby Brown and Benefit too.

Q – Chelsea Brown - Hi Keeley, I am suffering with breakouts and acne at the moment, what would be the best products to use? Love your qvc shows, your advice is so helpful!

KE - Chelsea , I would say make sure you have a great cleansing and toning routine. I would say Lime Blossom Cleanser and Lavender Toner and keep the skin well cleansed as this is crucial. Then I would say Bliss Capsules and SOS Emergency Cream

A special note from Keeley – “The facebook page I use mainly is the Keeley Aydin Elemis QVC page not my profile one that is on here as rarely use it only for posting pictures of family to Turkey so please don't think I am being rude if I don't add as a friend as had a problem a few years back .I am always on the other page to help and update you with all your Elemis questions as love helping you with your skin care xx”

KE - It's been a real pleasure been on here, we are two hours ahead here now so just going to try and sleep but it is over 40 degrees here , sweet dreams and chat again soon

To come in next few weeks – Marjolein Brugmann from Pilates and supplements hours… Susie Adams from Northern Nights… and possibly Lee Hohbein, IT expert…

Update

Had a very very interesting – and promising – meeting about my novels this week – I really can’t tell you more, but it relates to the future of my novels’ availability. Oooo – exciting! Lol. I am so glad about the turn of recent events – everything happens for a reason and the meeting I had this week was a direct product of a less happy series of events a few weeks before. Never give up if you’re thinking of writing. As Sammy Lee Rudd did – he’s just self-published his own memoir on Amazon and it got straight in the top ten in one of the Amazon minor sub-categories – well done Sammy!

Plus if you haven’t heard already, there will be a special Hallowe’en anthology this October – I’m just working on which fellow authors to request a short spooky story from to be included in it.  They’ll be spooky as opposed to really scary, don’t worry!

My novels

As promised last week, the countdown continues until the release of my next romance novel on Amazon. This week, a cover teaser – the first glimpse of Hawaiian Retreat – more like Hawaiian re-feet! Haha! Ok, rubbish joke – but another great cover by the talented Angela Oltmann. Plus another  little excerpt below, in the run up to 29th June - publication weekend of the third in the trilogy (again with a steamy or PG option!) - see bottom of page.

Cover reveal – teaser 1!

Full cover reveal  in the next few weeks too. Meanwhile – here’s a little glimpse – can you guess what it is?

Win a signed copy

There will be a prize of a signed copy for the person randomly chosen from all those who email me with ‘cover comp’ in the subject line, to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. , by close on 28th June, and tell me:

- what the images are which will appear in the background of the cover of my new romance novel?

See if you can guess! Clue? It’s in keeping with the other two, and is featured within the storyline! Nb - anyone who has seen the cover, is not eligible – (and please don’t tell people either! Lol!)

Other news –

-          Self-publishing authors and literary agents - do they mix? Self-Publishing Advice brought us this interesting debate this week – from a ‘hybrid’ author – someone who retains some rights to self-publish but also wants/has a traditional publishing deal too. Click here to read.

-          Screenwriting weekend more from the organisers of the London Screenwriting Festival – I’m going to a two day script writing weekend shortly – click here for more info

-         Ten teen books your kid should read – following the furore about the government insisting on all-UK authors at the expense of some of the classics, here’s a list from the Mirror – do you agree? Which is your fave? Leave me a comment at bottom of this blog!

‘I miss Damian,’ said Helen, with a petulant pout. ‘He was so sweet after what happened in Tuscany at the conference. I’m beginning to wish I’d accepted his offer.’

‘Too easy – you like to make life difficult for yourself. Besides,’ Kate said, swinging round to face Helen on the bar stool, ‘You can’t resist a new challenge. I bet you secretly wanted to show the boss what a good job you could make of his new revamped column, right? Plus you wouldn’t want to make Mr Adams think you got no balls. Right?’

Helen paused, shrugged, and had to admit – her best pal was right. She nodded.

‘Hah!’ Kate said. ‘Well, Missus “I work for all I’ve got.” Maybe one day you’ll meet your match,’ Kate raised an eyebrow, ‘a man who makes you feel able to let go and just be a woman.’ Kate swigged back her shot. ‘If such a guy exists.’

‘Actually, he does,’ said Helen, staring at her drink. …”

Saw a fascinating Horizon show this week – really made me think. Thinking being the operative word, considering it was all focussing on the power of the mind to help healing take place.

THE PLACEBO EFFECT

Had to include a little ‘essay’ this week therefore, on the wonders of the placebo effect (see bottom) … (of the page, not of me! Lol)… I’ve always been fascinated by the brain and this week’s Horizon stirred me into writing this piece – the links is below too, to watch it on i-Player if you missed it.

Week 4 of 18 – Our Break the Habit Challenge Continues with some BIG NEWS about the Back to You Show!

Well another week, another little ‘aha’ moment or two in my own re-discovery of Freedom Eating. When I lost the 35lb initially, in the late 90’s, it didn’t come to me overnight. But about six months in, it felt, like, how did I ever unlearn all this stuff?! Now many of our regulars on the Facebook Groups (see below) have been experiencing their own little light bulb moments, on their journey down the Freedom Eating path.

Chloe says -

I am now embracing the freedom eating approach.
I can really relate to this book...and it has given me that final push to improve my 'relationship' with food, to feel comfortable with my body and actually do something for ME!!

Week 7 and I've lost nearly a stone but this is just the beginning.
I’m starting to recognise feelings of hunger and satiety, which I don't think I was actually aware of before. I would just eat up until the point where I felt bloated and uncomfortable. I would also eat even when I wasn't actually hungry!
I don't feel deprived of certain foods as I'm not excluding anything. I'm not having extreme cravings that I would normally get on a 'diet' which would usually result in me having a binge and just giving up!
I do have slip ups/bad days where I eat too much or have too many treats but I'm not beating myself up about it anymore.
I've realised that I'm starting to make healthier food choices naturally. I WANT to eat healthy delicious nutritious foods.

Great post, Chloe! It makes me so happy to observe other people experiencing the same thing I did when I first started. Fab news. Keep the posts coming in. This free around food, is how you can be for the rest of your life! We just have to re-learn to trust our bodies.

One of the best things for me is that food and mealtimes are the most-enjoyable ever – taste-wise - yet food becomes so much less prevalent on my mind. Some days I can't even remember what I had to eat. Before, I could list every morsel, as well as the time I ate it. Now it’s as though I don’t have to think about it any more, until my body tells me to.

Keep it up everyone! And keep sharing. It's an amazing transformation, and once you 'get it', it becomes easier than any other weight loss method ever, IMO. Cos it's not a diet you 'go on'. It's a totally new way of being around food. Permanently. (Link for TTFLS at bottom of this post).

THE MONDAY ESSAY

The power of the placebo – what does the future hold?

If you are in any doubt whatsoever as to the power of the mind, just watch Horizon: The Power of the Placebo. For instance, even a fake/simulated operation led to some patients believing their actual fractures and joint problems had been cured, and their lives transformed. There was no statistically significant differences between those who had the real op and those who had the fake one. Incredible. Fake pain relief resulted in less pain felt, as the placebo effect can activate the naturally occurring pain killing reactions in our own brains. The Parkinson's patient whose brain released dopamine - shown on a CAT scan - in reaction to a placebo. A sugar pill as good as the meds. Really? Watch the programme.

The Horizon placebo experiment using fake oxygen at high altitudes showed a physical, measurable, scientific reaction in the subject's body, causing them to feel less pain and work harder - producing a real neuro-physiological effect (of lowering the all important Neurotransmitter PGE2 even though the second chart showed there was no increase in oxygen in the body.) The fake oxygen administered might not be real. But the belief is. And that's real enough for the mind to work the magic.

The only thing I’d observe is that it'd be preferable to use cornflower capsules rather than sugar pills!

In years to come, I believe that the power of the mind will be utilized, rather than denied or ignored in so called scientific studies. Further, in my humble opinion (IMHO), this is in keeping with the power of belief, visualisation, and manifesting your destiny with affirmations etc. It’s all to do with our expectations. The person who believes they can, achieves things. Things which the person who consistently says 'I can't, you can't, it's impossible, chances are it won't happen, be realistic' could never ever do. Hence a 'make it happen' person, well, makes it happen. That's my belief. And hey, whatever I believe will be true for me, right?! ...

In decades to come, this might be a fact of life used to treat symptoms, rather than be regarded by some as simply airy-fairy stuff. Yes, the placebo effect taps into the body's own natural pharmacy. Bad news for drug companies. Sure, you have to think they're real. But - imagine if one day Hypnosis was the technique used to produce interleukins in the brain to treat cancer patients, instead of scary chemotherapy with all its side effects. The brain is indeed a wonderful thing.

Final show of the series! What have you enjoyed most? And Kim from Kim&Co gives hints and tips about dressing right.

It’s gone so fast, hasn’t it? January? Already we’re at the final show, this Monday night at 9pm on QVC UK. I do hope you’ve enjoyed what we’ve been doing and whilst it hasn’t always been possible to schedule purely New Year New You items, we’ve done our best to tie it in!

KIM AND CO COMPETITION AND FASHION TIPS

Since this week’s theme is health and beauty, I thought I’d mention Kim’s range, since in the promo, most of the clothes I wear are from Kim & Co! Kim’s clothes also fill much of my QVC wardrobe space too, as I found out recently when I had the ‘samples police’ (!) in the dressing room checking out what I’ve still got! Seriously, I buy a lot – ‘cos it’s comfortable elegance. So I asked Kim for a message for this blog. She said –

Hi Debbie, A great fit and fabric will allow all of us to be better people e.g. kinder to ourselves and others, more attentive, compassionate, focused, relaxed, confident, etc… Why? When you are not concentrating on how your clothes are fitting and feeling you are free to be the best you can be…Let the beauty of you shine through.’

Lovely words from one of our Queens of Fashion, who returns for a Today’s Special Value on 10th February – can’t wait! And over on my QVC UK blog, (see blog tab at top) this week’s latest blog (Friday 24th) has a fabulous competition, including a prize to win £75 outfit direct from Kim & Co that suits your shape. Go to the blog to see how to enter.

FINDING A LOOK THAT WORKS

I don’t know about you, but I spent much of my youth bemoaning aspects of my shape – bum too big, boobs too small, wobbly bits all over. I met a body builder once, who said to me ‘Debbie, work with me and I could give you the body you had when you were 20.’ I said to him ‘I don’t want the body I had when I was 20!’ lol. My best shape was around 2000, when that pic was taken of my abs.

Well, my routine consisted of going to the gym four or five mornings a week, so no wonder! And eating right. We’ve had a lot about eating right haven’t we, over this last four weeks. Well assuming you’ve been reading all the hints and tips, links and info (read back over the past three blogs if not) you’ll at least know what to do, even if you don’t do what you know. We all have set-backs, none of us are perfect all the time (well most of us aren’t, including me.)

But the difference nowadays is that I feel more at home with a body that I know I can help with certain tricks that make the best of my shape.

-          Shapewear – I know I joked about this in my romance novel, but it truly is one of the most wonderful inventions ever. And what’s more, wearing it could help you feel like you’re a few pounds slimmer – which might spur you on somewhat, even if you’re having a ‘fat day’ or a slip up. Choose the right ones tho – I recommend several that we do including ‘slim n lift aire’ long shorts with lace trim.

-          Empire line – OMG if only I’d known about Empire Line years ago! Goodbye horrible t-shirts and long skirts and yukky suits. My shape – hour glass – or hour glass in one of those comedy hall of mirrors from a fairground, ie a bit shorter and rounder! – suits a silhouette that goes in at the ribcage, NOT at the waist. Like the dress I wore at the  Beauty Bash this week, 120226. Or my Mother of the Groom dress by Antthony Designs,106613.

-          Draping tunics and shark bite hems – Yong Kim, Kim and Co, Antthony, Together fashions, Renee, Lenny, so many of them are so fantastic, and cover the tushy and hips and make you feel feminine and flattered. Fabulous! All over leggings or jeggings, tucked into boots or Emu’s – long Bibi Bijoux jewellery or Honora Pearls – sorted! Or even some good fitting jeans – Diane Gilman stretch fit are fab.

-          And of course getting those curvier bits more tones with the exercise gadgets we’ve been discussing! Bodyblade or Leg Master if you can’t stretch to a pilates machine are my recommendations.

OTHER NEWS

And if you’ve been doing well with the weight loss, or even if you haven’t, how much have you lost? Measured in these wild and wacky equivalents?!

Anyway, hope you’ve enjoyed these’ weekly updates! I will keep adding little extras as and when they appear, and come back in February for the first of my new MONTHLY updates and a super eating challenge you might want to join me for!

Best wishes
