What do you do for Hallowe'en? Anything? I do love this pic, taken three years ago at the launch party of a special spooky anthology. It was such fun - mind you, masks are always easier than makeup right?

I don't generally do much for Hallowe'en - but I will be in Devon without any guests this year, so maybe we will have some trick or treaters! It'll be the first year in a long time since my last two houses were actually quite remote so we never got any visitors! That's after many years where the tradition in my Banstead house, quite close to other houses where kids live, was that all Laurens cousins came round, dressed up, and went off with their little cauldrons! So should I get a bumper bundle of treats? Or be prepared for some tricks? What do you think? Shame I haven't got this mask any more since I might be able to lie in wait behind the door for them... mwahhahaaa! That's the sort of thing my dad would have done anyway!

One of the biggest blockbuster authors is back! Origin, the new Dan Brown is what I'm currently listening to on audiobook and I can already see it in my mind, appearing on the big screen. There is a fascinating premise to the plot, which is already gripping me and making me want to read on. As usual I can’t guess what it is – can you?

What I love most is the way he intertwines facts and history, places and people into his stories, meaning that for an archaeology geek like me (I got A level archaeology ) it ticks loads of boxes!  This one is no exception.

Robert Langdon, Harvard professor of symbology and religious iconology, arrives at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao to attend the unveiling of a discovery that “will change the face of science forever”. The evening’s host is his friend and former student, Edmond Kirsch, a forty-year-old tech magnate whose dazzling inventions and audacious predictions have made him a controversial figure around the world. This evening is to be no exception: he claims he will reveal an astonishing scientific breakthrough to challenge the fundamentals of human existence.

But Langdon and several hundred other guests are left reeling when the meticulously orchestrated evening is blown apart before Kirsch’s precious discovery can be revealed. With his life under threat, Langdon is forced into a desperate bid to escape, along with the museum’s director, Ambra Vidal. Together they flee to Barcelona on a perilous quest to locate a cryptic password that will unlock Kirsch’s secret.

In order to evade a tormented enemy who is one step ahead of them at every turn, Langdon and Vidal must navigate labyrinthine passageways of hidden history and ancient religion. On a trail marked only by enigmatic symbols and elusive modern art, Langdon and Vidal uncover the clues that will bring them face-to-face with a world-shaking truth that has remained buried – until now.

Welcome all the newcomers to my regular newsletters! Every one or two weeks I update you on what's been going on. You're also the first to know my major news - and some of my sneaky secrets! There's some hot gossip below, for instance!

Wedding Dressing I went to a wedding last weekend – you know, the sort of event where you dress up and feel conspicuous, especially if you’re not happy with your appearance? Well, having been Bodyblading and using Freedom Eating (new book finally out – see below) I was unusually really pleased and even took the jacket off most of the day. Want to see the dress? Go here to see pics, in this week’s QVC blog. It was a lovely day. Plus on the blog I tell you about playing a practical joke – so unlike me, but when you read what happened, you’ll see why I couldn’t resist…

SuperSix The toned tum is of course much due to using the clever Bodyblade fitness device. It looks like a ski if you haven’t seen it and it works your body 270 times a minute - that's a lot of times! No wonder it's played a big role in getting trimmer. Long way to go, still, of course, maybe another half stone by Xmas? Also – for those who wanted the link to yesterday’s SuperSix routine on the full hour’s show with Bruce, it’s here – boy was it tough. See that bottom jiggle furing the final exercise! Haha! What a great workout though - all six one minute exercises in full, one after the other. I enjoyed the show, did you? Did you do it along with me, at home? If you need to tone up, this simple device is still on 3 pay but it won’t be for long (go to qvcuk.com.) Bruce is not back till January when a new Back to You series will be out, I hope!

Hot gossip – Oo, I had a bit of good news this week - it looks like a limited edition hardback of my 'Till the Fat Lady Slims 2.0 – the ‘When’ Diet,' may be coming to QVC at some point next year. Another proud moment, that’ll be. I would love it if anyone who has already had the eBook from Amazon could review it for me – on Amazon? Or if you’d like to read the first chapter for free, just click here. The paperback is coming very soon!

TTFLS page Plus there are lots of testimonials to read from people who have recently used Freedom Eating themselves – on the relatively new page on my website, click here to read them – are you like any of the ladies listed? Maybe the same thing could happen to you. Join the facebook group too if you are on your own weight loss crusade.

Hallowe’en special – if you like short spooky stories, see what you’ll think of our little collection of supernatural tales with a twist. As mentioned recently, you can Click here to pre-order ‘Hocus Pocus ’14 – 13 spooky tales with a twist from best sellers, award winners and new voices.’  It’ll be just 99p when it’s released on 17th October – not bad considering you’ll be getting over 70,000 words! And have you put it in your diary yet, that it’ll be on free promotion when we do this year’s Hallowe’en online party on Facebook? I hope so - it's just a fun day of foodie pics, feedback, sayings and sharing ghostly goings on – you can join the fun by going here to ‘like’ the page and here to ‘join’ the event!

Gosh it’s going to be a busy autumn!

Apart from that, my daughter’s house is coming on a treat. Will she be moving out from my house before October 31st…? Eeek?! All change again in the Flint household!

If you want to reply, it comes to me, not a web-bot!

Have a great week and if you are having luck with TTFLS 2.0, I’d love to know – email me!

Best wishes
