Coming up roses! And sneaky peeks

Since I’ve been away so much I thought I had better spend some time with my lovely mum who had looked after the “Bed on the Bend”, and balcony, so much when I was away, so we went to tend dad’s grave then for lunch. It’s all doing very well especially considering how much drought there’s been. I even had some of the recent Thompson and Morgan dianthus flourishing away!

Fortunately, it wasn’t very hot and we’ve had a few downpours here in Surrey and London. Devon however has been really, really dry. They desperately need rain down there, so fingers crossed.

After the hard work reading et cetera, we went for lunch at mum’s favourite café in Tattenham Corner, where we had our usual – for some people that’s a drink or a beer, for me and mum it’s liver and bacon with vegetables and mash! Yummy!! Mum thought so too, look at this look on her face! Then we went food shopping and delivering stuff. Had a really nice afternoon, thanks mum! (She’s down to do plant sitting this weekend as well whilst I’m away! More information below!)

SNIPPETS

AGM Again!

It was that time of year again last weekend, down in Devon, time for the AGM of our association.

Looking forward to welcoming and working with the new chair, congratulations to Jeff Wilton-Love, a good friend down in Devon.

Apricot TSV

Last week they had to change around some of the deals and I ended up presenting a denim and co shirt and Cami set, instead of this top from apricot fashions which will now be on around the 14th. It’s quite stretchy underneath, and an interesting batwing construction – if you love things that go in at the waist you will love this pretty batwing broderie Anglaise style top!

Sheena’s BD

End of last week had a lovely lunch as usual with my super friend Sheena, whose birthday it was. We had our usual (in the one market street café in Hatherleigh, scampi for me and chips for Sheena. Looking forward to the next one.

Watch – Haven’t watched much this week again. Was going to carry on with ‘Succession’, or ‘The Morning Show’. And my regular #Thursdaybantz gang recommended another couple of series for me. But I’ll have to wait a bit longer to tuck into a TV fest. There is still not much on at the cinema either, although I wouldn’t mind seeing the Mission Impossible film because I’ve seen all the others. If you’ve got any recommendations for me let me know!

Meanwhile here is a lovely bit of piano playing down in Devon this week 🙂

It’s looovely!

Also, search “Rye teacher student cat”, on the internet if you want to see a clip of the infamous incident this week!

Blooper – I’m not allowed to show you pictures but my youngest grandchild, Jasper is a crazy boy! Lolly sent me a video this week of him making Wah Wah noises into a plastic bucket whilst taking it on and off his face, at the same time as walking round banging into things! (What was the name of that film where the child is doing something like that? Walking round with a bucket over the top of his head or something? Let me know if you remember, unless I’m making it up LOL!) Anyway, silly Jasper thought that it was very amusing and so did my daughter who was laughing away. I can’t wait to spend the weekend with them all down in Center Parcs in Longleat!

Podcast

Go here to get the latest Inside QVC podcast from Will, and the current one if you haven’t listened yet :-). Don’t forget there’s a massive back list to catch up on, too!

This week’s interview is with hunky handyman/glamorous gardener, Tommy Cross!! Don’t miss it!

Vlog – Back in London at QVC and the weather has cooled slightly, outside in our business park there was the most beautiful breeze by the mini lake. Watch this (here).

Book of the Week

If you want a light-hearted, usually domestic, drama, with romance and regular smatterings of witty repartee, then Jane Lovering is your author. I walked through her latest pretty quickly as I really enjoyed it, as ever – ‘The Recipe for Happiness’ is an enjoyable story with some really original content. Part of the originality is that the main character Seren, is a baker, and some of her recipes are scattered throughout. Very interesting for me, getting inspiration for when I cook down in Devon for the retreats! Seren, divorced and in need of love, cooks dinners for the elderly at a daycare centre and lives above the shop. Mysterious new colleague Ned, and a rescue dog called Kez, enter her life, bringing about amusing consequences, until the secret of her past is revealed… Very good, I was delighted by the usual really clever writing, and I will definitely get the next one 🙂
