My non-stop weeks continued with a babysitting session this week, collecting both of my Fulham grandchildren after their respective summer camp/nursery. We had a nice play, got home and read some books, watched her play her new instrument (see below). First I got Blake and took her to her favourite local Acai juice bar where she talked to me in great detail about what they had got up to at her summer camp including craft activities like decorating, and dressing up as cowgirls, and how she really felt like some sushi… she was really talkative this week and I really enjoyed it. Plus I got a little sip of her Coco Loco smoothie, lucky me!
Then before we picked up Kaleb, we had a rather interesting experience on Parsons Green….
Funny – This week’s ‘funny’ is a bit long-winded but bear with me. And open your imagination and picture this…
Blake is a real little giggler, and we had such fun when I picked her up on Wednesday after school. Before we went and got her little brother Kaleb, we had a walk back home through the Parsons Green Gardens, and played a game of “hide the soy sauce packet“. What is that game, I hear you say.
Well…
It just happened to be in the pocket of my coat which she decided to wear because she was a little bit cold when we walked around Waitrose. We would not have been so long in Waitrose but Madam wanted £8 worth of sushi salmon slices. And she started doing the pouty face. So I Insisted on helping her understand the value of money by comparing what else you could get for £8 which meant that we marched past the chicken counter, looked at big lumps of cheese, an armful of tubes of Pringles, and two children’s magazines, amongst other things, to show her what else she could get for the same money! In the end she settled for a £2.50 essentials plain packet of smoked salmon. Job done. Good NanNan! LOL. But she’d picked up the sauce packet when she was at the sushi counter.
So in the midst of playing this game of ‘which place have I hid the soy sauce packet in,’ (which included informing her about how handy hiding things in a bra can be, car keys, mobile, you know the sort of thing… Ha ha), she was twisting it in her mouth creating what she called a bubble, and it burst. Oh my goodness you’ve never seen so much so sauce come out of such a little packet, all over her chin, her hands, my coat, her dress, the floor, just missed a nearby Chihuahua, but covered the cowboy hat that she just brought back from the final day of her summer camp. I had tears in my eyes from laughing. I know you had to be there, to some extent, but you can imagine can’t you. And she thought it was hilarious as well!
It was also kind of hilarious seeing a little feisty seven-year-old tackling the latest of her projects – a double bass. It was bigger than she was. She could’ve fit her and her brother in just the case. Yes, she’s given up on the violin because she “didn’t like standing up.“ Now she’s got herself a double bass which her parents are indulging her in, and she starts lessons soon. Watch this space…!
So glad to have these little humans in my life, and I see the other two at the weekend!
SNIPPETS
Menopause month, or is it!
This week, it was the start of menopause month, QVC version, but the thing is it is a month ahead of the main one everywhere else, so on my Monday night MYW show at 7 pm which I enjoyed thoroughly, I said this is the one that leads up to the main event, so it must be QVC’s “perimenopause” month!!, or should it be QVC’s menopause “peri-month”! What do you think? More of these shows on many evenings over the next month or so. Meanwhile here’s a lovely Vlog from Pippa tied into changes she has seen and how she’s coped! (See it here).
Board but not Bored Meeting!
You may remember me moaning about the previous property managing agents at my flats in Surrey! Well the meetings nowadays couldn’t be more different! Such a lovely team to work with, the new surveyor helping with the refurbishments on one of the listed building blocks in my development comes across very well, and I do far less now than I used to! Probably just as well given everything I’m doing at the moment for my Association in Devon! This week, I did also complete the final version of the signage, new house number signs et cetera, that should help stop the parcels going to the wrong place. When those new ones are all in situ I will be very happy! No rest for the wicked 🙂 but I love the new team working around me. They are fun 🙂

There are only about 30 people who can go. It’s £49 and it is being run by medical detection dogs! We’re all just attending! Register here.
Watch – 20 years ago last week, this (here) happened on Friends. What an amazing series that was, an incredible 10 years sharing with my kids where we hung on every new series and loved every clip. Could it BE any more nostalgic??
Vlog – big news about the Elemis TSV launching this Saturday night at nine, we may actually be launching with advanced orders! At the rate it is selling anyway. It’s online already, and this is one of the reasons why it is selling so fast… Watch this little blog (here) I did on Instagram to find out more about the huge size superfood midnight facial that is included along with three other superstars in their hero collection!!
Book of the Week – One of my favourite authors is back!
New York City, New York.
Meet Augustus Berrycloth-Young – fop, flaneur, and Englishman abroad – as he chronicles the Jazz Age from his perch atop the city that never sleeps.
That is, until his old friend Thomas Nightingale arrives, pursuing a rather mysterious affair concerning an old saxophone – which will take Gussie from his warm bed, to the cold shores of Long Island, and down to the jazz clubs where music, magic, and madness haunt the shadows…
Thomas Nightingale is one of my favourite book characters ever – Thomas Nightingale! And it’s expertly read by one of my top top narrators in audiobooks ever! Can’t wait to listen to this one!
