Been busy socialising this week, (amidst masses of online minutes, sorting out leaflets and people to deliver them in Devon!)
Following on from last week, the rest of the weekend retreat went really well, and I ended up having a first: the group got on so well, they took themselves off to the beach together, and on the way back they called and said they would give me the night off from doing dinner, because they were all going to get a meal at a pub together! Which I must admit was a very welcome break – heavenly! It was lovely to have this group of writers staying with me and heartwarming to see how well they got on together. Hearing uproarious laughter all day long, warmed my cockles! We even got some good weather and they could eat lunch outside in my courtyard, as in the pic.
My place looked fab, it was a great week, and I got some lovely messages at the end of it, including this one from a smashing lady called Kate.
Very proud. The next retreat is on the 1st of July and it’s a big one! One more space to fill on this workshop week – all about Memoirs and how to write one… (if always wanted to do one, email me at the email address on this website home page or go to retreatsforyou.co.uk.
Also whilst in Devon I went out and about with a couple of friends who walked around the villages with me in lovely sunshine. What a difference it makes when the sun comes out! Firstly Linda who used to live next door and who I haven’t seen for ages.
Then lovely Barbara and Penny who went walking round Sheepwash with me.
I also saw Sheena, and Sheila, so it was a busy time. Oh and Caitlynne and even, briefly on the way home, Alix! Most of the gang!
Plus went to Tavistock on Saturday morning for the market stall event.
Then it was back to work on Monday, and a hectic week.
SNIPPETS
Sometimes the only time I get to catch up with my lovely sis is when I’m having my nails done! Lucky me having such an expert sister sibling! Her youngest is 30 this weekend, so happy birthday to Stephanie! (Actually this week I also met up with sis for coffee in the High Street with a couple of other people, it’s part of the newsletter exclusive – sign up if you would like to get the weekly email on a Friday, see below, click newsletter).
Seventies Styles!
This was my favourite photo that I posted last weekend for Father’s Day, all of us around dad in the 70s. Hope you had a nice Father’s Day with yours, doesn’t seem like it can be possible that it’s 32 years ago that I last celebrated one when my dad was alive! Goodness how time flies. (I’m thinking of you as well if, like me, you had no cause for marking the day or sending anyone a card (I said happy Father’s Day to my brothers and son instead!))
Backstage Pizza Night!
Lorna Ko at work was in for a today’s special value, as was Tom Shepherd and his lights, and like so many guests, they bring in a takeaway to get them through the day! They let me take a photo – the light was playing weirdly on Lorna‘s face, and they both looked so relaxed and at home in the guest lounge! Now you know what happens behind the scenes on a long day at QVC. PS Lorna did give me a slice!
Clip on Facebook – corrrrrr! One Day! #kingTutTomb360° ! Really must go to Egypt one day!! (See it here).
Book of the week – I must say I have really been enjoying Judge Rob Rinder’s ‘The Trial’ – I got into it after a while, and I was very surprised at the twist. Well done him! A very likeable trainee barrister main character, and some compelling storylines as a peculiar case of a popular detective’s murder goes to court. Recommended. One of our makeup ladies also recommended a book to me, about time travellers, so I downloaded it. It’s called ‘The Ministry of Time,’ by Kaliane Bradley, and that is next on my list.
I also saw that a couple of books are out in paperback now – ‘The Running Grave,’ by Robert Galbraith (a.k.a. JK Rowling), which is also very very good – as usual. Very long too!!
Blooper – here’s a funny I could not resist, Katie with the most incredible faux pas! Kept me laughing for days! She won’t be allowed to forget that in a hurry! (See it here).
Watch – this is quite fun as well! #eyebrowsThroughTheYears (See it here).
